2021 Ekuk Vlog: The Perfect Storm // Bristol Bay Commercial Fishing

What a challenging season! We had more things go wrong/break then we've ever had before. On top of all the problems it rained for weeks straight in the middle of everything going wrong AND we hardly caught any fish in comparison to past seasons!
I don't go into a comprehensive explanation in the video of all the things that went wrong but here is what I can remember...
At the processing building:
The new generator was wired up wrong and blew up after we installed and started it. We didn't get it working properly until the last week of processing.
The generator situation caused the well transformer to burn up so we didn't have water in the processing building for some time.
Two knife sharpeners broke.
The transformer on our vacuum packer just happened to break this season. We thought we weren't going to be able to process fish at all. Luckily our friend had a spare vacuum packer we were able to borrow.
The old generator was also not working but we finally got a part and were able to fix it.
At the fish site:
First, our net broke (which I show in the video). It broke completely off when we were pulling it in, so we had to swim out with our rope and tie it back together.
Our ground line broke three separate times. Finally we replaced it and fixed that problem.
Our block broke. This was a minor problem in comparison but it's never happened before and just decided to break this year.
We had major problems pulling in and setting out the net this year because of thick mud.
There were lots of mechanical problems that I don't know because they happened during pre-season before I arrived. The red and white truck did die, which I talk about in the video, we towed it home and were able to fix it. Turns out there was tons of dirt blocking the fuel sock so the truck couldn't get any fuel.
