If the forum post you showed is accurate, $5MM is a lot of debt to overcome. Even if someone buys the brand and starts cranking out guns, they likely wouldn't break even from the purchase for a couple years. That's no way to run a business and ensure it stays in business.

I bought mine some years ago now, ran it for a year without issue. Liked it so much I SBRd mine. The quality on mine was really great, not an issue at all. Rivets were tight, and the top cover didn't wiggle barely. I loved my PCC Russian Vityaz clone. I put an Omega 45K on mine, and it's so comfortable to shoot with accuracy for 9mm excellent. I bought mine early within a year of announcement, mainly on your advice, Tim. Never failed me yet.

I won the KUSA give away a couple years ago. I have the KR 103 and couldn't be happier with it. It shoots and groups great. I'm not an everyday shooter and have put a few hundred rounds thru it. Mostly 2 - 3 inch groups. Some bigger when I failed to-do my part. Everything about the gun is smooth with a very light trigger pull. It would be a shame if they went out of business. I have to admit I was wondering why they weren't coming out faster. I hope they will be able to stick around.

I have an early KP9 (SBR'd) and an early KR 103SFS. Both have been very good shooters. Customer service at KUSA was pretty good as well. My KR 103 had a piston that wasn't dimpled to the bolt carrier, so it could unthread by hand. I assume it didn't get caught during QC. Anyways, KUSA took take of it in just a few weeks. They also took care of a cosmetic issue that I pointed out at the same time. Their customer service was also quick with upgrading the firing pin on my KP9 bolt (look up out of battery issues with the KP9 due to the original firing pin design; although my example never had issues).
All in all, I'm sad to see them go out of business. They were the only company that produced a bunch of Russian AK 100 clones at a decent cost. Yeah, PSA has their own thing (which I've never owned), but they aren't the same as 1:1 Russian clones. I was hoping for some AK 74Ms at some point. Guess that's a pipedream now. Hopefully someone can get them back into business.

I bought a KR103 non folder almost 2 years ago from my local shop, had a nice straight front sight, everything tight the way it should be. Gun is accurate and 100% functional at over 1000 rounds of steel case, and any/every mag I've tried has worked perfectly. Last year I picked up a Blem KP9 directly from K-USA and it sadly wasn't as great an experience. I won't go through the whole list, but other than the coating being seemingly unfinished, the safety had a peg left in it from when it was made that would scrape the trigger spring right off the reset, requiring the disassembly to put it back on (easy fix, but still sad to see). I sill support them, and I hope w/e is going on there gets resolved. Thanks for the vids, Tim!

I knew every station and stage of production. What brought kusa down was poor management hands down. There was definitely great managers and then there was office politics. I was pretty much doing an assistant factory floor managers job and making maybe 17 dollars an hour. They started getting rid of some of the original employees on the line and replacing them with temp workers to cut cost. Quality went down as well as standards. My KR9 had an OOB discharge on the first magazine (bought it new this spring before I knew they were going bankrupt or had so many issues); I sent in in to be repaired, which they claimed to have done successfully before sending it back two months later. The first magazine after they sent it back...out of battery discharge. I removed the squib, pulled it apart and check everything over, said "screw it" and tried a different box of ammo *wishful thinking with a dangerous firearm*. Five rounds in and had a THIRD OOB discharge. The last thing they said was that it may be an issue with the trunnion and then wouldn't take it back. Went dark and now they're closed.
My FFL is trying to do right by me and repair it in house, but three OOB discharges in less two full mags...Kalshnikov really screwed me on this one.

Some issues that i have seen documented on the AK subreddits:
Mismatched parts on website examples (random pieces slapped together to get pictures for the website)
Mismatched parts on purchased examples (usually saftey levers). So much so it has been considered by the community to avoid purchasing if you cant visually inspect the rifle you are purchasing.
KUSA Social media presence was abysmal. They would openly argue with people who had issues with KUSA products on their main SM pages.
KUSA is fairly expensive if you arent looking for clone accuracy. Average KUSA price is $1,100 and for a few hundred less you could buy a WBP Jack kit and have it built by a quality AK builder (i priced one at about $875 in 5.56)

I bought a very lightly used KR9 a few months ago. I put a Holosun red dot on it and it is very accurate. Mine is missing the faux suppressor shroud, but otherwise it’s identical to yours. So far, I have put 250 rounds through it and there have been no issues. The 10 round banana mags convert to 30 rounders in less than two minutes. I plan on adding a left side charging handle, and the trigger seems to be good. The only problem I am having is my example will not lock the magazine in with the bolt forward. You must have the bolt to the rear in order to get the magazine all the way into lock. If I can find a buffer, I will install it. Maybe if the bolt would lock back, the magazine loads would go more smoothly. Otherwise, I am very satisfied with this pcc and plan on keeping it around. I am interested in input on this rifle from other owners.

I have an early KR-103. Absolutely excellent rifle. Accurate, reliable, in-spec with all the Russian parts, and relatively cheap. It was the first AK I would recommend to friends. Unfortunately, I got word later that K-USA had loads of problems. Big one was inventory. It seemed like their guns would be out of stock for months and months on end, and when they finally went in stock, they'd have QC problems. Either that or they'd introduce dumb things like the Komrad or the Vityaz HK slap handguard instead of actual products anyone actually wanted. On top of all that, apparently they used "adult film actors" in their advertising, which gives you an idea of where their priorities were at. Definitely in agreement that it's an absolute shame they're going under. I'm hoping they come back somehow and bring us more of that Russian "Smekalka" potential they promised.

KUSA seemed like it’s had a crisis of management. Products that had wonky QC, and tbh I’d just would rather have gotten the PSA versions. I don’t need a 1 to 1 Vityaz when I have one that’s close enough for cheaper and more reliable.

Peep my 103SFS Tim. I can make hits w irons out to 300 yards. 25 yard Belom zero rear sight leaf on number two. I replaced everything on the rifle. I had the correct AK-100 series stock set, unserialized IZHMASH BCG/piston, recoil spring, and dust cover. Only parts still KUSA are the barrel, bolt, and receiver itself. Zig Zag 74 brake chrome lined to match the barrel. Krebs bored the Russian 74 brake for 7.62x39. I have right under 1K total rounds fired. Zero hiccups of any kind aka no malfunctions. The only gripe I can think of is the magazine release pin or spring wasn’t aligned properly. I fixed it with a punch.

I have one of these, and the Komrad... love them both. Thinking of picking up a 101 as well, but I really don't like 556 that much but it is certainly easier to get a hold of. As for quality, they are all excellent - at least with the ones that I bought. The K12 was used and the 9 was new. I did have issue getting the upper handguard off and emailed KUSA for help and they were responsive and helpful. So all in all I'm happy with them, and would like to buy more from them. I was hoping they'd start making some 545 ammo and guns, but PSA is half way there, though they have some room for improvement in the quality realm.

Had my KP9 SBR a few years now and has been a great gun! Glad you brought up the accuracy because I was surprised how well it shoots. The handful of times I’ve actually shoot it for groups it’s been sub moa 😳 with mostly just a front bag or using the mag as support. I thought the first time my Ballistic-X app was wrong and confirmed it. And my kr103sfs only has a few hundred rounds but looks good gauging off all my other combloc AK’s.

I really would want one of those guns.
