I've enjoyed the number of interviews Nick has done this week. It's been awesome watching him push back on stupid, jealous narratives around the Chiefs!
Nick is absolutely correct about the Chiefs’ villainy. I saw a cousin over Christmas who doesn’t even watch football and he asked, unprompted, how I felt about the chiefs getting wins from the refs. Since Trump 1.0 and Covid and TikTok, the world has decided that shared reality is a myth and if you don’t like something you can simply believe something different is true. People don’t like that the chiefs are dominating, they don’t like what’s mainstream, none of that is new. But this time we’ve got conspiracy theories flying around the algorithms and then sports media feeds the fire for views and clicks. Put any other dynasty in the 2020s and I guarantee the same thing happens. Add to that that the most famous woman in the world, who already had a passionate hate-fandom, became a prominent figure for the team. Bam, villains.
Heard an interesting take on Mahomes vs Jordan and the way they are perceived -- Mahomes being increasingly doubted, "hated", Jordan being universally admired -- the difference pointed out is that Mahomes off the field representation is State Farm -- pretty neutral to boring --- Jordan had the marketing prowess of Nike behind shaping and selling the "inspirational" narrative (including the campaign authored by Spike Lee) -- people actually fell in love with THAT idea of Jordan. I think it's kind of brilliant: success on the field creates the attention, but it's a marketing question to shape the deeper emotional evaluation and connection. What do you think? (Not sure if Mahomes still has time to shape/reshape his image -- kind of hope so.)
guys being called a "Pro Bowler" for going as a 6th alternate after half the league declines the invite has always been a joke, and it's why almost nobody even cares about the designation anymore, because it's so cheap and watered down these days that it doesn't even mean anything to be called a "Pro Bowler" anymore since basically any bozo can go if enough good people decline the invite
I Don’t often agree with Nick’s NBA takes but he’s totally right. Bronny is late second pick who has actually been playing very well in the G league. He played his first serious minutes and struggled against an all star guard. Stephen A was totally out of line for going after him the way he did and it was clearly a ploy for attention n probably to bait a response from Lebron.
17:26 The biggest plot twist would be if the eagles have already figured out how to get more yards on the tush push and they are waiting to break it out on the last drive of the super bowl.
I love how upset Bronny makes these losers feel. He’s living the best life which he deserves meanwhile guys named bob and Trevor are whining everyday on social media about him. Great stuff
Nick with back to back BANGER takes going from chiefs hate to bronny hate. Yes, these people who hate on the two greatest aspects of football in modern history are that dumb
He is Averaging 23. The numbers nick showed stats that included preseason stats we're he only played half the game. He is averaging 23 in the regular season.
I think it’s disingenuous to simply label someone thinking the Chiefs get a favorable whistle in high-leverage moments as a “conspiracy theorist.” Nick’s take on Brock Purdy last year, which I agreed with, was “I don’t care what the stats say, I watch the games.” Now, when someone brings up the Chiefs get a favorable whistle in 50/50, high-leverage moments, the response is “but the stats!” This is more of a macro worry than the Bills game in particular. Josh had the ball with 3:30 left and a TD wins the game. Not much more you can ask for. But so many games are regularly decided by a single, game-defining, 50/50 call. It’s uncanny how those 50/50 calls consistently go towards the Chiefs. I want nothing more than a great and fair SB. If the Chiefs win, kudos to them. Mahomes is undoubtedly a legend. But if the SB comes down to another 50/50 call that inevitably goes in the Chiefs favor, I think the NFL has a growing problem on its hands.
He's not saying they will "stop" Saquon. He's saying he won't be dominant. He's had 6 gMes with under 110 yards and 0 TDs. If the Chiefs can 'hold' him to around 110 and under 5 yds/c, they have a chance.
Let’s be real, the Eagles would never just run the Brotherly Shove every single time if they could get 3yards a pop. It’s physically tough on the offensive line and Jalen. we literally have pro bowl to all pro offensive skill players why waste them?
The reason the tush push should be banned is that it is an unfair play because the rules for the offense and defense are not the same. If you want to keep it, fine, but then change the rule so the defense can push as well (which they currently are not allowed to do)
The Tush Push isn't banned because it's basically just a "Rugby Scrum" in an NFL formation. Saying it isn't "football" is false, it's very much a product of football's origins. It is taking football back to the sport it derived it's name from "Rugby football".
I don't think this chiefs defense can shut down this high caliber eagles offense. They arent near as good as last years defense and will probably give up somewhere around 30 to 35 points. Unfortunately I don't think this limited chiefs offense will be a le to keep up especially since the eagles actually have the best defense in the league. Sorry guys. Sad day is coming
Remember folks, if you disagree with Nick on anything from sports to politics. It’s not because you have a different opinion than him. It is because you are disingenuous and lying. Deep down everyone knows Nick is right about everything 39:55
Some more important context that the media left out of Bronny playing the other night is that Gabe Vincent was out against Philly meaning the Lakers had 3 guards to choose from off the bench JHS, Shake Milton and Bronny. Bronny has played better than jhs did in the g league Shake Milton is a cone defensively and has been horrible offensively as a laker including the game before Philly where he put up basically the same stat line as Bronny did against Philly
My thoughts on hate watching. I watched the falcons vs patriots with friends and the one literally left even before the end of the game because he couldn’t bear to watch the patriots win again. For me personally I find myself not wanting to go through the torture of watching a team I hate win. So no I think if anything I become less engaged
I think Tony romo has done a lot this season to push the bad refs narrative especially on the chiefs. Really changes the attitude of the entire broadcast and how you as a viewer feel when there’s a call and it’s reacted to so poorly by Tony. I think in contrast Brady gives a much larger pass to officiating when he broadcasts and really puts the onus to win on the players
What nick is trying to say about progression not being linear is “I didn’t believe in Jayden Daniels before this season and I’m not changing that take yet. In fact I’ll double down because he’s now a threat to Caleb.” Get ready for downplaying and hate commanders fans
Has Nick ever considered that a lot of the football-viewing audience also tunes into sports television/RUclips, and hate the Chiefs simply because of his years of brazen pomposity and condescension surrounding the Chiefs? That we root against them so that we can watch him get his comeuppance the next day? Constantly being the heel, LITERALLY SITTING IN A THRONE ON TV, constantly talking down to the audience, and then claiming “wah wah people only hate the Chiefs because of Adam Schefter’s tweet!” shows zero self-awareness.
Please turn up the gain on demonze’s mic. He speaks so softly I can barely hear him. Honestly yall are probably better off g getting him a condenser mic instead
I have a lot of football fans in my ear and although I’m a chief fan most of them dislike them and it’s actually way more nuanced than all of the FTF team is making it. For some it’s as simple as, “Travis is too much of an arrogant jock” others think Patrick has a weird personality, some people have lost bets betting against them. It’s complicated
im a bron and bronny fan but idc it was stupid to try and play him knowing the media is the way it is and that guys like stephen a were waiting to sink their teeth into something like this. even if bronny played well and we lost they were obviously going to spin it and jj/pelinka should know better
Yeah Pro Bowler needs to stop being an title or at least stop giving people the title when the original names guys turn the game down, most often most of them just lost a heartbreaking playoff game of course they dont wanna go play flag. Also I think both games gave me more reason to feel the Tush push should be banned. The Defense of the Commanders was just doing whatever they could to jump it and werent actually doing it unsportsmanlike. The biggest thing to me is... if Josh went under the pile or just in the mass instead of over like he was doing.... they might of been given the yardage everytime. By design the qb is surrounded by a mass of people and there is literally no way to know where or when they are down it is just judged by the pile and that he must of got that far. Not saying it happens but for all we know Hurts is on his knees everytime half a yard before the piles stops moving and we would never know. But the mass of people also doesnt help Josh cause they block majority of the pov either way so whatever they called on the field cant possibly be overturned
Misogyny is kind of a buzz word but I do get Nicks point to a degree. I actually think it’s gate keeping. I think people think she, and by extension her fans, can’t like the nfl because ‘we were here first’ I see it everywhere in sports, best example id give is f1. Everybody decided that the people who got into f1 because of something popular (The Netflix show) aren’t real fans. I just think the exact same is happening here
Tom Brady wasn't that good in their first run, he became dominant when he got Randy Moss. So those early Patriots were annoying bc they'd also win close games with Vinitari but it didn't look like Brady actually did anything. And then the 2nd run was they were better on offense but they also had 2 cheating scandals. The Taylor Swift thing is also very real, i've heard it from my own friend group and even from women that are annoyed by it. They showed her like 1 time during the game and then post game when she came on the field lol.
Bronny is probably the number 1 option on his G league team. Is the 55 pick in the G league the number 1 option on his team. I don’t believe he is so you can’t just pull up the stats, plus do any second round pick have an 8 million dollar guaranteed contract. If not Bronny should have more of an expectation. Also I’m not a Bronny hater I’m just speaking real talk
Does any other second round pick rookie have the higher selling jersey numbers? That’s just one example of Bronnys worth. You’re naive thinking the contract is based purely off of basketball production for a rookie.
people acting like they care so much only because of the salary cap implications of a 2nd rd pick who plays in the G-league is so wildly disingenuous that i can't even start "I’m just speaking real talk" lol yeah ok if you say so, if his name was Brandon Jones i'm sure you'd care just as much huh
It is completely true, Taylor Swift is the main reason Chiefs become hated, why all comes their way and eventhe biggest pop personality is on their corner???!!! is simply stupid people being stupid
That’s the dumbest question I ever heard. Do u actually think the Eagles would be that idiotic?? Let me solve your problem for u. The Eagles are going to brutalize the Chiefs and win the Super Bowl.
I disagree it's misogyny directed at Swift as much as it is political and a sense of poserism (the latter from jealousy). I'm a KC fan of +30 years but I can't stand T. Swift for her politics and lost a ton of respect for Travis for pocketing $20M for doing the Pfizer commercial last year. There's sports and then there's hard reality.
"i lost respect for people i personally don't know in any way whatsoever because they have a different opinion on something than me" i hope you realize how soft and pathetic it is to think like this
You're soft and pathetic if you can defend anyone who publicly supports the uni-party Globalist agenda that has been deliberately destroying the United States. Read some books instead of just watching sports.
People keep trying to change their tune on Bronny and it's too late. Blame the people that put Bronny in this situation instead of the people telling the truth. People who follow HS basketball recruiting knew that Bronny was overrated as a prospect. He should have been a four-star top-50ish level recruit instead of top 20-30 recruit. Everyone was aboard the hype train and believing the propaganda. LeBron was saying that Bronny was better than a lot of NBA players when he was in high school. People were discussing Bronny is if it was a guarantee that he would be lottery pick after his first year. Sane/knowledgeable people knew that LeBron playing with his son might be a stretch because Bronny player that needed 3-4 years of college. LeBron and the media put the spotlight on Bronny and that's just how it is now.

I've enjoyed the number of interviews Nick has done this week. It's been awesome watching him push back on stupid, jealous narratives around the Chiefs!
i'm not even a KC guy but all that nonsense Chiefs whining has made me root for them even more
It was so crazy! Turned out the team with the best coach and the best quarterback was really, really good!!
You guys are so cool. Way to fight the man. Lmao
Plz plz plz turn up Damonza’s mic. Thank you and keep doing the great work you do! 🙏🏾

Of course, Mahomes has a great deal of integrity and maybe that is even better and will win out in the long run?
A lot of good points there.
I think social media has tainted peoples opinion of Mahomes more than anything he’s done himself
guys being called a "Pro Bowler" for going as a 6th alternate after half the league declines the invite has always been a joke, and it's why almost nobody even cares about the designation anymore, because it's so cheap and watered down these days that it doesn't even mean anything to be called a "Pro Bowler" anymore since basically any bozo can go if enough good people decline the invite

SAS is the biggest clown in all of of sports media
Stephen A saying know nothing nonsense just for attention? say it ain't so lol
I don't think a 55th pick has ever had 30 in the g league. Bronny has already done it twice.
17:26 The biggest plot twist would be if the eagles have already figured out how to get more yards on the tush push and they are waiting to break it out on the last drive of the super bowl.
Right on point about Bronny. He is doing fine.
As a Seahawks fan I do not hate the Chiefs. I respect the chiefs too much for beating the 49ers twice in the Super Bowl.
You don't need to ban the tush push. It's effectively a QB sneak. You just need to make it the rule that no one is allowed to lend weight to the QB.
love the pod
Bronny is averaging 23 6 and 5 in the regular season. That 16 4 and 4 includes preseason games were he only played the first half of games.
Do people know that averaging 17 in the NBA G league is impressive? 😂 first round picks aren’t even doing that!
He is Averaging 23. The numbers nick showed stats that included preseason stats we're he only played half the game. He is averaging 23 in the regular season.
I think it’s disingenuous to simply label someone thinking the Chiefs get a favorable whistle in high-leverage moments as a “conspiracy theorist.”

Nick people have been trying to stop Barkley all year long. If they can I'd be absolutely floored.
Steelers stopped him, they just gave up too many passing yards to make it worth it.
@@dilairkhara880and lost because the eagles defense is pretty good.
He's not saying they will "stop" Saquon. He's saying he won't be dominant. He's had 6 gMes with under 110 yards and 0 TDs. If the Chiefs can 'hold' him to around 110 and under 5 yds/c, they have a chance.

Nick… brother… he outplayed 15 last match up in SB 😂
I thought the Tush push sequence wss great television. I was laughing at it for ages. It was unusual & won't happen constantly.
So happy you did pardon my take
Love your hot takery
How are the Chiefs not exciting? You have to watch every play!
Just so you know, Nick, what you described is definitely not misogyny. 😊
Hopefully saquon proves Nick wrong again in the superbowl keep doubting him . Eagles fans love it ! 🦅
Loving the new and improved thumbnails

Didn't Wright also pick the Commands?😂

Nick, Question.
Do you think footballs complexity paired with modern technology is ruining how people view the game?
Nick said G league way too many times!!! lol….
DOES Bronny James go on road trips with his teammates??? OR is he just playing home games????

get a life
Of course the biggest Chiefs fan in media knew the refs could award points 😂😂😂😂
Nick acting like bronny wasn’t a dei nepo pick is insane
You don't have to use the term DEI just cuz you don't like something. It doesn't apply here.
@ it does apply because most of us believe he didn’t have the merit required so yes dei and nepo are both applicable
if you dont like the tush push stop it. OH AND ITS THE BROTHERLY SHOVE

His constant bronny caping may top those tbh. Bro can't just say he's not an nba player. He is NOT and he will NEVER BE
