This interview with Dev Anand was recorded in 2011 just before his film Hum Dono Rangeen was about to be released.

Such a humble man. So caring and loving even to the interviewer. And the interview was mindboggling, even better than the Rendezvous one. The way he has spoken about Goldie, Guru Dutt, Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor....the last two were his rivals but there's no trace of any malice or bitchiness, completely objective and frank. And his love for Goldie was very touching. Completely floored❤️

My uncle who was in the army , was a big fan of Dev sahab and Ashok Kumar, he used to often play Dev sahabs songs which I grew up listening to. 'Dev Anand' a true gentleman indeed . No one recognised him in the lobby .
I walked up to Dev Anand and his first question was “ Are you from India “ - Yes , of course I said .
How do I get to Oxford Circus for shopping ?
Guided him all the way .
But he was fragile in his later years .
Yet he was a regular visitor to London .
Great human being .
I loved him.

Dev sahab should be understood through his attitude towards life in general. His acting and film making skills were just a part his. It doesn't define him completely. His honesty, straight forwardness and saying things as they were without malice, truly deserves a respect.

For dev saab i just wish to say dat people identifed with him dat he was same in real life. Full of life, energy n voh sadabahar hai. We always feel he was english man. His approach to his entire life shows this. He always played urban heroes . I think he took d lines of guide climax to his heart, n sukh hai na dukh hai. He was very fine actor.
I disagree with many dat he was not dat much good actor n was full of mannerism. He was best complimented by urban heroines like nutan ji, sadhna ji. He was very fine emoter n lip syncer in songs.
Dev saab was widely travelled person, well read.
He had rich experiences in life. We remember watching his songs n films on sundays n my parents saying dev saab toh sadabhaar hai. His best was in black n white n 60s colour movies. Thanks again for this interview sir!🙏

i agree he was a fine actor and best movies were black and white . my most favourite from that era is the sentimental hum dono which i can watch any number of times . in the seventies his best was tere mere sapne with outstanding songs where he and mumtaz acted finely !

This interview affirmed my view of Dev saab and truly validated my adoratation and respect for Dev saab. Devanand was perhaps the most handsome and well dressed actor who didn't know what to do with his hands in movie songs! Adored that awkwardness. Loved his teen devian movie for his courage to be the actor who was not committed to one woman.

My dad was huge fan Devanad. An interesting anecdote for you. It quite well known that Gurudutt and Devanad were very close friends even before they became famous. Eve. As Gurudutt and Devanad were still struggling, they had made pact they once they become successful, then will definitely make film for each other. Gurudutt had promised he will direct Devanand and Devanad had promised he will give chance to Gurudutt as a director. It finally happened in Baazi. But apparently Gurudutt didn't like Devanad's dialogue delivery style. Gurudutt tried really hard to break that style, but Devanand couldn't come out of it. Finally frustrated Gurudutt finally told Devanand that - "Tu star to ban jaayega, magar actor nahi banega".
He was right. Raj Kapoor, Devanad and Dilip Kumar were considered Trinity of that era. Devanad was most handsome among them. But when it comes to acting and intense roles It was Dilip Kumar, followed by Raj Kapoor and then finally Devanad.
Quite nice to know that...gurudutt was way ahead of his time.....

I was and am a very great fan of Kishore Kumar. For being honest my fav actor was Navin Nischol. Later it was Amitabh.

One of his kind, the only major star who didn't work in South films exept Insaniyat and Amardeep. Though south producers offered him films. He gave breaks to many young talented actors, technicians and writers. Amazing man indeed.

Dev Sahab a very great actor I love all his movies such a phenomenal personality.
There is a Guide in everyone of us and it guides us to the right path. We all have a struggle of good and bad within us and ultimately good prevails in most cases. We just need to push the right button the way Raju did. I fell in love with Raju when I first saw the movie in my college days back in 90z. . ... And I still am. Don't know how many times I've seen it till now. 💖
