For me the symbolism was the people being like the bird in the cage. Away from their family/friends in a strange environment, with weird tall creatures watching you while in the cage, even enjoying when you perform for them, while they watch you on the other side of the cage.
This is a excellent analysis of the movie and how we , as people, are constantly watching the people we wish we were. The beautiful or handsome. The rich and famous.
They need to make a Dark Fairies Horror movie based on the Dr. Bob Curran book which tells about different types of Fairies but also people's encounters with Fairies in Real Life.
I myself think it was a awesome movie as i rather enjoyed it. My only thing is i think the watchers are the fallen angels of past. Look at the halflings they are essentially nephilim. So if u open your mind and view them as such they fit every description of being fallen angel watchers
Exactly & the falling Angels have been called many different names through out the past years when they were explaining them in the movie I was like they clearly are talking about the falling angels that are in the bible & that the Book of Enoch goes in to details about them but someone took that book out of the bible 🤔hmmm very interesting

The story felt rushed in both the book and movie, and the author could have spent more time developing the characters and personalities of the Watchers. S.M. Knight did well for her first movie directorial debut.
I liked your analysis, except I didn't agree that ppl watch beautiful ppl on reality shows because they want to be like them, but rather look to see how they are like us regular peeps. Film was excellent yet I could tell it was made by a woman. It was more about deep, inner turmoil and feelings and less about the appearance and interactions of the Watchers.

I noticed that "the coop" is basically a TV too, it's a box with glass. Basically just a box tv set for the watchers.
