On October 12th 1993, Life of Agony’s iconic debut "River Runs Red" was released. Hailed by Rolling Stone as “one of the greatest metal records of all time”, "River Runs Red" was an emotional concept album that focused on a troubled teenager’s inability to cope with what seemed to be the worst week of his life. The album connected to a broken generation in a visceral way through its cathartic message and hard-hitting approach, and the band developed a cult-following in the process.
Twenty-six years later, practically to the day, Life of Agony will continue the story of "River Runs Red" with "The Sound Of Scars," acting as a “chapter two” to their groundbreaking album. On October 11th 2019, the band comes full-circle and picks up exactly where their debut left off, revealing just what happened to the troubled boy through intense audio scenes.
“By far, this is the best Life of Agony record you’ve heard in years,” explains guitarist Joey Z. “We really went back to our roots on this one and tapped into the mindset we had when we first started the band.”
The group recently toured Europe where they filmed a chaotic, high-energy video for lead-off track ‘Scars’ with director Leigh Brooks of Firebelly Films. “We decided to perform right in the middle of the pit to capture what it’s really like to be at a Life Of Agony show,” said bassist Alan Robert. “It was a sweaty whirlwind of raw emotion and non-stop energy... something I’ll never forget. And to drive home the message of the song even further, we decided to include a handful of fan-submitted LOA tattoo images in there, too. Literally hundreds of them have been pouring in from fans all over the world and they looked so incredible, we had to use them. It just goes to show how deeply connected we all are through this music, both on an emotional and on a personal level.”

It doesn't matter to me, if I have to say Keith or Mina Caputo (That's just a matter of geting used to.). The human being counts. An incredible voice is behind this. Which I adore since 1993... Which is almost 30 years. So who am I to judge, if the singer identifies as man or woman?
This band sucks now and most people feel obligated to like it because keith has gender dysphoria
Came here after around 15 years of not listening to anything what they made (except Soul Searching Sound), expecting some boring stuff of some (now older) guys, but this... it's cracking ! At first I thought it's some ad playing before they feed me with LOA, and thought - hey I like it what's the band? Looked at the phone and it was not an ad - it was Life of Agony - Scars. This is the proof that old bands don't have to be boring as they age.

Goosebumps throughout the entire song. Loving the tribute to The Underground. Most of us wouldn’t be who we are without The Word and Music from LOA. This video and song are off the charts.

Very AIC-sounding on the whole more than what we may expect from LOA but it's still pretty awesome. Love that tom tom rim work and the uptempo bit in the middle. And it's still got groove throughout so I'm happy.

Likely because the formed around the same time, Mina just took time for herself to transition hence why you have the break from their 90's stuff and now.
I have a feeling of knowing this song for tens of years, it's so light and convenient like night slippers

Veronica's the perfect drummer for this band. Can't wait to hear the rest. All the haters need to get over the shallow reasons why they don't like this. If you don't like the music fine shut up and move on. Glad these guys (and ladieS) are still true to their roots and sound.

I wouldn't say "still true to their roots and sound." You won't find a bigger supporter of this band, but I can't go that far and say this is "true" to their sound. For one thing, who even knows by now what their true sound is, given the deviations from one record to the next? My take is, while I like this new song (and LOVE the two others I've heard), this is very much a mainstream sound moreso than anything I've ever heard from them this side of "Weeds".

This is absolutely fudging nuts! I love the "no holds barred" songs and this absolutely fits that. I love how the musicians are really prominent in the music too. The drummer is a beast and the guitarists absolutely killed it! Loved the solo

This track kicks more ass than a ninja with 20 legs kicking a guy with 30 asses! The drum work takes me back to River Runs Red.
My brother had "River Runs Red" as CD - good album but too despressive for my back then when I was 20 years old. Now, 20 years later I found their new music and I iike it very much. This song gets 5 stars from me. Absolutely brilliant!😍

A bit of grungy sound? It's very original, we barely see this type of genre these days, amazing sound
LOA are a metal/grunge band, some albums more one than the other. Quality stuff.
Just sounds like every nu metal band played in the radio lol
They started out as a Hardcore/Crossover band with a heavy grunge influence and then gradually softened into more of a grunge/alt-rock band on some of the later albums. Every album sounds really different.
Hatsune miku 01 sorry you feel this way. Most people who are LOA fans connect to the emotions through the lyrics. Not just the music. Plus this band has been with us longer than any Nu Metal band. Check out River Runs Red.

It is a really good track to get out first. Humbly I disagree with the AIC comparisons. I hear more of the early STP. Vocals really capture a sense of Scott Weiland. RIP.
