Hi Janine, very interesting to see the small change you made to the Concord tee pattern, and how your new tees fit now 🙌🏻. Love your skirt & the fabric color 👏👏. I also want to make some longer & flowing skirts, as I have none in my wardrobe now 😕. Take care. Karen❤️
Great vlog - thanks so much for this post. Always enjoy and look forward to seeing you on RUclips. The improved fit of the Tee is so worth the extra time it takes to make those pattern adjustments- excellent fit and suits you so well.❤❤❤
Thanks for showing how you altered the tshirt pattern. What an easy fix. I was busy sewing for some little girls in my life. Soon i will have to make them school outfits, using fabric from my stash. I currently am hobbling around on one foot. My hubbie kindly takes my knee scooter upstairs to my sewing room so i can do some left foot sewing. I'm working on some short sleever blouses. Still haven't even started my jeans, hopefully when I'm two footed again. I tried chair yoga this summer. I didn't like it, too slow. A local Fabricland is going out of business and i am resisting buying more fabric. I did pick up some thread, elastic, and sewing machine needles. I just want to reduce my stash.
Congrats on placing your jeans in the Stampede. Even if you didn’t win you put your me-mades on display. Thanks for sharing your tee shirt adjustments, those tips help all of us when it comes to sewing’s greatest challenge: FIT! Sorry to hear you’ve had to spend so much (time/$) at the dentist. We always say in our house, that just means our dentist was able to get a bigger boat based on our latest expenditures in their office 😅.
Loved all your makes. I want to make some skirts for church. Next week we are going to have some days here in Virginia in the 70’s. I can’t wait but then it could turn back to the 90’s with high humidity. My summer appointments have been for my cataracts. I finally got my glasses this past week. However the reading part is not good. I can read & sew better with my dollar tree glasses. Far distance is fantastic. So I have appointment this Tuesday to hopefully correct the near vision. Plans for weekend I’m going to Target to get a few things and church on Sunday.
We’ve had a beautiful summer here in Minnesota! Winter snowbird season is coming soon. If you come down to Mesa Az I’d love to show you our park and sewing room. Lots of your fellow Canadians are there. This year we got a new coverstitch machine. Your makes are beautiful!!!!
It's good to hear that someone has had a nice summer! ☀️ I will definitely let you know if we make our way to Arizona this winter. Someone keeps commenting that the days are getting shorter.
Hi Janine. I enjoyed your ramble! I understand how you are feeling about your summer, although my feelings are a bit reversed - it is supposed to be winter here in the southern hemisphere, but I think it lasted properly for about two weeks. I have so many snuggly things I have made and am especially proud of the denim jacket I finished at the start of the season - and here we are in mid August with termperatures in the high twenties or even over thirty (celsius, of course!) Far too hot already.
Love the pretty fabric in the t-shirt you are wearing and it's great you learned how to alter the Cashmerette pattern so nicely. The jeans are beautiful!! The TV weather person here (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) reminded us that we'd lose 40 minutes of daylight by the end of August, which I did not appreciate hearing! I just had a root canal, too - was in the dental chair so long I got a charleyhorse in my calf! One more embarrassing moment for the lifetime collection - I yelled out, jumped up, and the kind technician started rubbing my leg 😂!
It's always jarring to see the days getting shorter. Time to close the blinds in the evening, turn on lights after dinner. You would think we would be used to it after all these years! I hope your root canal went well! Must admit that I take the easy route and have sedation. This time they used something different and it made me forget everything. Including making my husband stop at the bakery on the way home, then eating a cinnamon scone AND bun 😬
Thanks for the info on fitting the Concord-I think I need the same adjustments. My favorite jeans pattern is the Ames. I’ve been mass-producing them in knee-length capris this summer. I finally realized I needed coordinating bottoms to go with my dozens of tops. Your Soller turned out great!
You're welcome, Rachel! Thanks for mentioning that the Ames pattern is suitable for knee-length/capris. That's definitely something that I'm interested in making.
Loved this video. While you were talking about your Concord, I started going through some of my pictures wearing my Concord and I think I might need the same adjustment. Quick question though: doesn’t that adjustment lower the bust bubble as well? Would it then be a question of removing that extra 1/2” under the armscye? I didn’t buy the Soller when it came out, but it looks so cute on you, I think I might need to get it. Can’t wait to see your Busy Bee projects!
Izzy, most of my t-shirts have a good amount of negative ease at the bust so there isn't a perceptible difference in the location of the bust apex. If this was something fitted in a woven, it would probably make a difference. That said, most of the time I need to lower the bust apex (Gravity! 🤬) so this accomplishes two things at once. Thank for watching! 🇨🇦❤️
Great video!! Did you draft your own pockets for the gauze skirt? I really like how they look and would also consider putting this type of pocket on pants. Thanks so much!!!
Thanks, Mary! Yes, I just added a couple of pockets. I started with pockets that were huge (10" x 8"), pinned them on and they looked ridiculous. 🤡 So I cut them back, finished the top hem and pressed in the sides to a finished size of 7.5" x 6.5". They are placed so that the top of the pocket is 1.75" below the waistband seam line, and 1.75" in from the side seam. I pinned them in a few places until I found a location that looked right.
I really enjoy your channel💕We have been traveling from Wisconsin to Banff and stopped in Calgary for a few days! I was so excited to go to Knit City Calgary and also shopped at Fabricland! Take care and thanks for your videos!
Life gets scattered from time to time for us retired ladies and it’s just plain A ok, enjoy those times, we can get in our straight line again tomorrow! Sounds somewhat like Miss Scarlett, right?
Congrats on the Whole 30 challenge. I have stopped watching 'fabric haul' videos by people who have rooms full of stash fabrics. There will always be more pretty fabrics for us.
Thanks, Joyce! I'm with you - fabric hauls or rooms full of fabric make me claustrophobic. But a lot of people are very comfortable with it. Different strokes ❤️
Love your vlogs Janine. The fit on your Concord tee is spot on. ❤
I love your shirts you made for your typical tourist visit to Las Vegas! The embroidery is awesome looking.

Thanks so much! They are simple adjustments. I'm so grateful that I had the chance to work with someone who knows what to do to improve fit.

Janine , thanks for making this video , I have made some changes on my concord pattern following your directions. Hopefully the fit will improve

Weather in Calgary this summer has not been great, that is for sure, but hopefully we still have time for some nice weather before the cold comes in!
Shelley, I sure hope so! Saw the forecast tonight and they're say 27 for next weekend. Let's hope it sticks for a few weeks.
@@JanineSewsfingers crossed …winters here are long enough without cutting the summer short

Iv made the Ames Jeans. They weren’t perfect the first go round but they were better than ready made! Good directions.
Thanks for sharing your experience! If you wound up with better than RTW on the first go then that's a huge win!

I frequently have the same problem on both pattens and ready to wear with the arm hole being too high. Your adjustment is spot on and looks great!
Thank you! I think a lot of us have this same problem. Too high or too low.
💕
