Oh my goodness - I couldn’t resist watching this and I’m so thrilled i did - it might be December but hey, what’s not to love with this fab bunch of June flowers? I only have a ‘pot garden’ here in London, on someone else’s first floor roof (!) and always grow sweet peas, climbing roses and ami magus - with varying successes - I’ll be adding the other top six flowers as soon as i can, adored the lilac sweet rocket and lavateria 😊thank you for bringing sunshine into this rather grey day 😊

You're great! Thank you for this - also, for showing me that I've been pronouncing lavatera completely wrong for 20 years (starting gardening while living in Brussels so got the French pronunciations).

Thank you, lots of ideas. My first sweetpeas have just started to flower in the garden. I am in SW Devon and everything here is behind despite the mildish climate, living at sea level below Dartmoor.

I see your lovely flower farming book was written in 2014 i built à heat propagation bench similar to yours. With the cost of electic in 2022 going up so much is it viable in a buissiness sense. How much use does yours get. This year i have a large shelving unit over à radiator in the lounge. My wife is not so happy but it works 😀😀

@@bluetreedog1205 we only have ours switched on between mid feb and end April and since 2014 we have installed some photovoltaic tiles but I agree it’s not cheap - but cheaper than a shop made propagation still x

@@bluetreedog1205 I’m wary of growing over a radiator as a) too hot and b) seedlings lean for light x

Lovely varieties!! I can't wait for my Hesperis to flower this season :)
I grew Lavatera last year, but found that the flowers opened from the bottom of the stem up. Do you snip out the tips, or just remove all the lower buds and leaves to create a top-cluster stem rather than more of a spike formation?

Hmmm… too dry? Too wet? Too much sun? Too little sun? Good quality compost? Sorry… not probably helpful. Was it fresh new seed? Xxx

@@theflowerfarmer new seeds Georgie, ,, half white and half purple,, some grown in the green house with a light covering of vermiculite and the other half uncovered in a cool bedroom ,, both kept moist ,, I expect once they’ve managed to set seed in the first year ,, I won’t need to worry and will be seedling control,, live in hope eh ?

@@lisag9493 that’s true you will live the self seeding - I always think if things not germinating we’ll change the environment - take out of greenhouse and bedroom and put in shade outside and allow rainwater x
