  • On this episode of Restoration Clinic, we find an old, neglected chrome snare drum, dirty and discarded, and we take the time to clean it up, scrub off some rust, replace the heads,and bring it back to its previous glory.     Nice job but I would've taken the lugs off when cleaning.

    it's a spun steel shell, the same as Tama's higher end snare drums like the Imperialstar for example, you can tell this by the 2 lines of 4 grooves on the shell. It's early 80's. They changed to a "cheaper" shell around 1986/87

      Thank you for this information, I have bought and sold so many snares in the last several years, but I kept this one, it is a favorite. I guess that explains why!

    I use Autosol metal polish, it shines up nicely but leaves a protective barrier which stops future corrosion.. Good job.

    Thats an 1983 Swingstar Snare with the Seamless Steal Shell. These Things are worth 100 Bucks.
