I have been thrifting yarn on vinted since mid 2024 as I finally can thrift from all over Europe! And have found so many goods!
I do have to say the categories in which people tag yarn are a bit tricky, as apparently Vinted doesn’t allow to sell “parts” and this happened to me when trying to destash earlier this year.
For example: I found most yarns in the category textiles_Home_ Tapestries, of all😂. And as you say terms like hank/laine/yarn
Love this video , people deffo not talk a lot about thrifting!

ooh I am jealous that you can see all of Europe! I guess I don't understand what their grouping logic is, although I suppose shipping from further east would be a lot for Ireland?
yess, I tend to mostly ignore the categories as they're not that helpful, but if I want to exclude clothes/etc I'll select Home. so strange that there's a whole subcat for tapestries but not something like, crafts?
thanks so much for your comment!

on Polish Vinted we can buy things from many different countries from the EU, i think only the UK has products available from their own market

oh that's awesome, I wish we could see all of the EU! apparently it's because the shipping rates/logistics wouldn't work further afield

The speed at which I click your videos is unmeasurable! I love your vision and vibe. This couldn't have come at a better time. I bought a knitted dress made from KFO mohair and merino for £50. She said the yarn cost her about £150-200 so I think I've got a bargain. It's not arrived yet so I'm excited and nervous. Not sure whether to keep it as a dress or frog it, cross your fingers for me!!

Aww - that means the world, thank you!! oooh that's awesome, I keep seeing handknit items made with lovely wool that I recognize, and have been very tempted to buy them to frog! crossing my fingers, but it sounds to me like it's already a win!!

I love thrifting on Vinted! It’s amazing. I have favourited a lot of yarn, but I have instead bought 100% cashmere sweaters and then frogged them for yarn. I just posted a video on my channel with a Vinted sweater that I frogged a few days ago! It worked out to €38 for over 500gm of fingering weight cashmere.

oh wow, how luxurious!! I find it hard to find cashmere jumpers to unravel that have a big enough gauge, a lot that I see are like cobweb or lace 😅 that's such a great score

@ initially I found the same, but I’ve had a lot of luck lately. I look for sweaters with cables, or at least visible stitches, and they are usually thicker. I’ve had even more luck with something like 90% wool 10% cashmere, like from the brand Massimo Dutti. So much high quality yarn to salvage!

I took a look, thank you for sharing!! Such a great video 🧡 omg yes, there’s so much to harvest - it’s overwhelming! I understand why they say knitting and yarn buying are separate hobbies now 😂

    Happy new year 🥳
I’m in Ireland and hadn’t heard about Vinted now supporting the Irish market! That’s great news!
That said, I don’t think it’s fair to say Ireland is always late to the party. It’s up to the companies - like Vinted, or Amazon even - to list in their preferred regions, not the countries themselves.
I wonder if the Irish website is linked to the French one because it’s our closest EU country now, so no tax on parcels being sent from there, unlike parcels coming from the UK…?
Thanks for the tips on how to search for what you are actually looking for. It’s one part of second-hand shopping I really struggle with, I hate having to wade through mountains and mountains of chaff to get to the wheat…

happy new year!! omg yess, I've been watching the UK talk about Vinted all year, I'm so happy we have it finally!
I did some very unscientific research and apparently we're not linked to the rest of EU because of shipping/logistics, and yeah the tax from UK to EU wouldn't work so they're locked to their own market. maybe we'll unlock more countries later on? 🤷‍♀️
thank you for your comment ❤️

I would put it in the freezer for 72 hours just in case it's got moths/moth eggs in it.... You never know!
