@Beat89 Hi, I'm going through every comment now to see if I'm going to go with the Apollo Solo as I had purchased the iD14 and was not impressed. Actually to your question, you can connect external effects like guitar pedals, because I have, but on another sound card, even if you don't have an FX output ** It's an analog option that I much prefer** , you just have to connect in front of the guitar output, or in front of the mic output, works i can vouch for that! A coincidence.
Very thorough! SO here's the deal..tried like hell to get into the Antelope echsystem with the new ZenGo. However, I could never figure out how to get the routing down. The interface is confusing and there just isn't enough info out there to truly help figure it out. I've always wanted the Apollo arrow/Solo anyway but the price was prohibitive. So after dropping 500 bucks for the Zen Go and hating it, I thought what the hell, I shell out another 150 and get the Solo. But the plot thickens because...I went and get the new MacBook 14inch with the new M1 Pro chip. And now I'm scared that I won't get this new Apollo working on with M1 and latest MacOS :( Am I screwed...Musician's Friend is gonna be pissed if I return yet another audio interface!
First, I would tell you to only purchase from Sweetwater because they have the best customer service in the business and they will walk you though the setup if that is required and you can return things 10 times and they are happy to help. if you are concerned about the solo working with the M1 chip, contact U/A support and they can also put your mind at ease. I can tell you that I am certain it will work but you should confirm with the manufacture.
@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy Appreciate your reply!! Too late to purchase from SW already ordered it from Musician's Friend--great outfit as well and their distribution hub is local.. I do have experience with them them..a few big ticket item (keyboards, etc). I've reviewed UAD's website and the caveats and instructions for installing their stuff on the ARM architecture and it seems pretty straight forward. Really psyched to get the Solo!! PS. I just subscribed to your channel :)
QUESTION! Love the video soo informative. Question is: I am looking to get a MAC and use LOGIC to record vocals ONLY over beats, no instruments or extra mics. P.S I am looking to get the either sE Electronics Gemini II or the neumann tlm 103 (for rapping mainly and some singing. which one you think is better?) But the main question is do I need this fancy interface or shall I stick with my current Focusrite Solo. Looking for the best quality as I'm taking it serious. Thank you!
The Apollo solo is great I own it. You can't open more than three plug-ins though because this only has one chip. If you want to open tons of plugins you need to spend a hell of a lot more money and get the quad. Again you can only open up to three plugins with the Apollo solo. There's no point in spending money on all of their very expensive plugins if you can only open three at a time.
It all depends on the plugin you are trying to use. You can 100% open more than 3 1176's or Plutec or LA2a's, you simply can. Each plugin they have takes more or less DSP and yes you are limited with a solo but you can certainly use more than 3 in mixing
I bought the Apollo Twin USB a couple years back and really love the whole system but cant help but feel that UAD neglects their windows customers. I guess MAC is more standard for higher end studios or music pros @@HomeRecordingMadeEasy
if you don't have a MacBook don't even think about buying this......... this interface drove me insane with its crackling noise and other configuration issues on windows i just have to return it and get Antelope audio and it sound the same as the Universal audio
Totally understand but I am just making the point that the interface is not the issue. It's not knowing hw to set it up correctly which with Windows based systems is always a challenge. However, if you got an interface that is working for you then that's all that matters.
@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy true although i think UAD need to fully optimize their system for all systems. but the sound is great, and if they fully optimize it i will definitely get it
@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy With the M1 MacBooks coming out I’m afraid that UAD will become obsolete…and they know it. Thanks for the video! Is it anyone here who knows if it possible to use external audio effects with the Apollo solo in Ableton? Many thanks
not sure
@Beat89 Hi, I'm going through every comment now to see if I'm going to go with the Apollo Solo as I had purchased the iD14 and was not impressed. Actually to your question, you can connect external effects like guitar pedals, because I have, but on another sound card, even if you don't have an FX output **
It's an analog option that I much prefer** , you just have to connect in front of the guitar output, or in front of the mic output, works i can vouch for that! A coincidence.
☝️ It's not only for the Mac! The Thunderbolt 3 version is for the Mac AND PC! The USB version is only for PC.
Thanks for watching!
@@bjclenster hey, you’ll be fine, with the M1, they already have update for download on the UAD.
does apollo solo work on m1 macbook air ???
it sure does
QUESTION!
Love the video soo informative.
Question is: I am looking to get a MAC and use LOGIC to record vocals ONLY over beats, no instruments or extra mics.
P.S I am looking to get the either sE Electronics Gemini II or the neumann tlm 103 (for rapping mainly and some singing. which one you think is better?)
But the main question is do I need this fancy interface or shall I stick with my current Focusrite Solo.
Looking for the best quality as I'm taking it serious.
Thank you!
You cans tick with your current interface. If you are just recording vocals, no need to spend the money on the U/A solo,.
@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy ah thank you so much. just saved me so much money. would so quality be not as good on the focusrite solo though or?
Thank you for the information
2 yrs later, still no Luna for Windows 😢
No, and I dont see it coming at this point
I bought the Apollo Twin USB a couple years back and really love the whole system but cant help but feel that UAD neglects their windows customers. I guess MAC is more standard for higher end studios or music pros @@HomeRecordingMadeEasy
if you don't have a MacBook don't even think about buying this.........
this interface drove me insane with its crackling noise and other configuration issues on windows
i just have to return it and get Antelope audio and it sound the same as the Universal audio
You could not be more incorrect, in my opinion. I have many students that use Windows and a U/A interface and love it!
@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy well that wasn’t the case for me
Totally understand but I am just making the point that the interface is not the issue.
Plugins are catching up, computers are better than ever literally we are living in a generation of Supercomputers. UAD will be like Waves, Slate Digital and Plug-in Alliance one day. You’ve got that from me.
I have found that the UA Solo USB-3 sucks. There is nothing you can do about the latency issues it has.
I know several people who have the USB3 version and dont hav any issues so I am sure its bot the solo but something else on your end.

Great deal!!
Definitely don’t like how they add all of the plug-ins that you don’t own, took me about 30 minutes to disable all of them
I hate that as well. I wish they would fix that
You have probably realized by now, but when you update the driver they all show up again ha
I don't care about the plugins I just wanna used the interface to record my hardware synths...hell, I can't even get a driver to download...very confusing. I just want the driver, I don't care about that other stuff...
Did you contact Universal Audio tech support?
@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy
Nawww....I just returned it and decided to get one of the motu AVB interfaces
Around 9:20 is explained how to remove "not owned" plugins in the uad consol 😊 ruclips.net/video/NJy7o08kKdw/видео.html
Thanks for the great vid!!
Thanks!
I can’t seem to get any signals from my mic after connecting to my Apollo solo , I’m using Logic . Any solutions ? Thanks
No idea, sorry. You may want to contact U/A support
Thankyou
