Playstation version should have swapped d-pad and analog stick on the left side to make it "actually like playstation".... as it is, clearly, its just playstation themed/colored
My only issue with that would be the ergonomics in such a small device. You can get away with it on a full sized controller, but a phone like this would be weighted wrong. That said, they totally should've had a split, playstation style d-pad.
The one thing I don't like about the Backbone One is that you can't use a case with it, so I'm more inclined to use it at home where if it drops, it lands on the carpet. I admire what they did with the PlayStation branding and all, but the color just throws me off. The original Backbone One makes it look like you have one solid gaming device.
The audio jack alone is enough to make me switch from my Gamesir X2. That's literally the only the thing that was missing for me to see it as perfect. Idc too much about the screen mapper or analog triggers since I only use emulators, but that audio jack is worth the price imo.

I love your channel. But is an offense to your viewers the fact that you don't mention that the Backbone App hides some funcionality behind a yearly suscription. Do Backbone pays you not to mention it?
Backbone actually tell the reviewers no to mention it. They keep it hidden until you install the App, and give you a "free" year so you wont remember to cancel it. This is a dark web tactic, and the subscription really doesn't give you anything but access to change the USB protocol and use de screen capture button. All the other perks are free stuff you can get somewhere else.
I can confirm that Backbone tries to hide the fact that they charge you for additional functionality. They used to hide it below a collapsible paragraph. But the backlash made them add an additional page. Even they then never mention some functionality is behind the paywall. And never mention the price. The worst part is that almost no reviewers mention the fact.
Thanks for reviewing. I have the black Backbone controller I’ve had for about a year. It definitely makes me want the Playstation one also. Great looking controller. The Backbone controller is the best mobile controller I’ve tried.

I like the backbone but returned it when I learned you need to pay a subscription service for full functionality. Even if I can use the controller still for the most part without a subscription, it's a really shitty thing for a company to do and makes me feel like I've been scammed after I dropped $100 on a controller. Imagine if any other controller manufacturer did that. It's not like you need a subscription to use an 8bitdo controller for instance.
I picked up one of these and my use case has been perfect. I personally gear the majority of my handheld gaming to in home use. Since I rarely every game outside of the house (unless I am traveling which I don’t do very often anymore). And for in home use, this has been perfect for PS Remote play. I tried it with Steam remote play and that was pretty good too. Gamepass was awful on my iPhone tho.

I use specific studio monitoring headphones for checking song mixes and I don’t want to use any other headphones for that. I am also aware of Apple’s adapter for that but this one is also a PlayStation controller.

Looks sick! I would really like a new portable from Playstation. There are rumors that they are working on one. I would be a great vehicle for PS plus.
Honestly just grab a Steam Deck. All Sony’s first party titles on PC are in Verified status and play great right out of the box at default settings. Days Gone, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Death Stranding, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, Detroit Become Human, Spiderman Remastered is releasing in less than 2 weeks, and Uncharted Legacy of Thieves and Last of Us Remake are also set to be released in the coming months as well. Basically the closest thing to a Playstation portable we can get. And it plays literally everything else on top of it. You can even configure it to run both Game Pass and PS Plus Premium to have all the games on Sony’s streaming service as well as remote play. And you have emulators if you want to run Nintendo and retro games, including the Switch. Exceeded expectations across the board and with Sony putting most stuff up on PC lately it’s a great companion portable. Play them on PS5 at release and bring them with you when they release on PC a little later.
@@mandrews6282 yeah, I know. The next gen Steam Deck will be a beast. But the cheapest Steam Deck it has the same price as the PS5 digital. If Sony releases a portable I really don't think it will cost more than $299. That would be one of the best deals especially if it offers great performance.

Something I didn’t see mentioned. Long press of the “backbone” button while in PS Remote play inputs the “PS” button on the PlayStation.
Can't wait for the backbone android ver.
I dont want you to put the phone inside the loghtning first as that can bend the lightning port easily.
I could definitely imagine Sony teaming up with Apple to create a game streaming service for iPhones that can compete with Xbox Cloud Gaming and Android.
Sony uses Microsoft azure servers to stream. They cannot compete with Xbox as they both use azure.
Bruh you can use Xcloud on iPhones…. Lol 😂 I did for the longest until i realized that games were to laggy sometimes
@@Callieforniiaa is the original commenter just making shit up? Why couldn't you play xbox cloud games on an iphone?
you should never put the phone in the 8 pin first cuz when you do that it might bend or even break since you need to put it in at an angle.
So always put it at the camera end first and then slide the connector in.
I want to use this in the park or airplane, switch can be played anywhere!!!!
Doubt they would dip I the portable space unless they go all in on it like what the switch did
Though it heavily implied that there is a steam deck refresh in the works and also we have been getting all these windows handhelds lately competing with one another for the crown
I would say in maybe a year or two we might get some great variety in this category of devices
Not a big fan of any stream stuff but I wouldn't be surprised if a new steam deck is announced next year
Maybe a new switch ?
Great time for any road warriors out there to be honest
Would have been nice to know it that this is a subscription based product. $50 a year!!!!! CRAZY
You don’t have to be subscribed to use it as controller
I know I shouldn't complain about it but boy... I missed Altered Beast boss' theme as ETA Prime opening 🥺
Good review on the Backbone though. Too bad it cost higher than my current budget for mobile accessories.
When placing that adapter to make the room needed for the cameras.. it sits tilted.. and it might be stressing the lightning port male or female
i had no idea something like that even exists :o
Im glad theyre finally making a backbone for android
Over 40 million Americans might not have access to broadband internet.
For game streaming to really work, ISPs need to get their shit together.
Careful if your Playstation is in a cabinet or something that it doesn't overheat - easy to forget if you're not in the same room.
i just use my ipad pro with the ps4 controller and it works fine like zero lag. didnt play the ps5 on my tv for months
Do you need a playstatioj to play on it
@@taffychow7909 yes
i heard there is a hidden subscription $50 yearly to get the backbone app work in full functions.
That’s great but what about when you’re not home? Can you connect via cellular? How bad is the latency delay?
