You guys should have listened to the album version. Or watched the actual video for this song. So much better then this version.!! One of my favorite radio head songs
The video is so great, probably my favorite music video of all time. Such wierd video as well, love the animation.
True!!! Shouldn't have fond for this version
The Jools Holland version is one of their best live performances.
for sure, this version was kind of like a sensory overload for me. while the others are much much nicer
This sounded strange. What version is this?? Horrible mix and the official video is one of the best things about the song. Must be a copyright thing.
its a live version
It's good for a live version, as it threw me off for a while wondering why it sounded different.
It’s good from where I’m sitting👨🏻🎤
I recognise this version, it's from a BBC live music show, Later . . . with Jools Holland, which is why he doesn't sing the swear word in the lyrics and just fumbles it.
Do Hoeijmans I believe this isn’t the only time these two have reacted to the wrong version of a song. It’s a shame, they should let the viewers send them the right video
You sure chose a weird version to react to. The studio version is much better in my opinion.
yeah its a bit exaggerated.
What even is this? A demo? It doesn't sound like a live version.
They re DUMB
@@vladlr There arent dumb, radiohead is that type of band that confuses people at first because they are so original. I had the same type of reaction as they did when I first radiohead I wasnt sure If I liked the band or not but they made me curious.
This sounds like shit. The album version thanks.
Why in the hell do you guys so often choose these oddball/live versions of songs to listen to instead of the album tracks/singles? Nobody heard that version of that song back then. The original one, as in the awesome music video they released with it, is what you should have heard/watched. This is a pointless reaction.
I think it's because the copyright is really bad with radiohead, but it's true that are so much better live versions of paranoid android than this one
Ah man.... I'm normally into studio versions first. I've been to so many gigs and been disappointed with some of my favourite live bands. The Paranoid Android Live performance on Jools Holland is amazing though.
Radiohead's OK Computer has been my favorite all time album for over 2 decades at this point; it's also my favorite cultural product of all time. It's the closest I've come to a piece of art being like a religious experience.
Hope you guys listen to the whole album at some point and give it it's due. It warned against the dehumanizing effects of technological advancement and the destructive effects of Neoliberlism in 1997 - and has been proven right in almost every regard.
Thanks so much for listening to this song. This is the live version which is undeniably great, but for the full effect, you gotta listen to the studio version of Paranoid Android (which, incidentally, was recorded in one take).
Got no problem with your analysis cause I agree with you despite the other comment you received! I'm 57 years old and Love the Whole album as well. Reminds me of what could've been with Floyd if Syd Barrett could've maintained his sanity!
@AJ lol
@@michaeldrennan9932 Because Pink Floyd flopped after that? :)
@@xenophon343 Pink Floyd don't floped. But... Syd was without a doubt the most talented, artistic, visionary and couragous of all the band. Just imagine what they would achive if he don't burn out so soon. Maybe the others never leave his shadow and started to try to write songs, and they found out they are some of the best musicians ever, maybe they had that urge and just leave the band, and never shared with each others, But maybe... Maybe... Syd nurished the band vision, and help them out, and they made something ever greater than they did. Honestly, i think they never leave Syd shadow, and never became the band they became. But Syd was always the greatest in the band, all they ever achieved after he leaving was just a band struggling with losing his leader and mentor. Even when they are in the top spot, biggest band ever, they are still a band in the shadow of Syd. For them at least, the rest of the world don't even know who Syd was.
@AJ With all due respect, it's more than music to me, my man. Like I intimated in my original post, it was uncannily prescient about what we'd sacrifice if we'd allow ourselves to becomes subservient to the whims of technological change. It's the most complex Prog Rock album I know of, despite being conflicted about being Prog. And it's got some of the best and funniest one liners in all of popular music.
This is probably my favorite radiohead song, but I'm unfamiliar with this whack version. There's some things just kinda weirdly off about it. I think even the tempo is a few bpm fast. Kinda odd.
Isaac Knicley I think it’s a live version? It’s irritating how they pick the wrong version so many times for example when they fucked up the NIN Hurt vid as well
It sounds like a live version...
Wow this version was horribly mixed. Should've gone with the album version
This version wasn't mixed. It was live.
@@iblamegravity1 It sounds like it's live in a studio. So it's highly likely that a live mixing engineer was present.
@@Zappaisgod4983 Hmm . . . . 🤔 point taken
@@iblamegravity1 I could be totally wrong though. Either way, I've heard better live versions and it's a shame they heard this as their first listen 😫
You know, I really do love this channel. I want to say that first and foremost. There's no hatred or animosity at all in what I'm about to say, but...
How on earth do you guys go about picking the actual track once you figure out the song you're doing? If this had only happened once or twice, I wouldn't think anything of it. But this has to be the, like, 15th or 20th time I've been excited to watch you react to a CLASSIC, critically acclaimed track from the annals of rock history and it's some version other than the original one it was known for.
I mean, was this particular version specifically requested? If so, I think it's a bad call. But at least that would make sense. If this is happening over, and over, and over again on accident, can I make the humble suggestion to select a couple of your more loyal and knowledgeable followers as track-selection consultants? I know I don't speak for everyone, but clearly there are plenty of people here that feel the same way I do whenever I click a video to watch my favorite reactors react to a piece of musical history and when the track starts it's some complete other version which only that band's die-hard fans have heard.
It's just a bit.....daunting.
All of that being said, I still love the channel. Hope you guys have a wonderful Christmas!
Ryan Wills seriously. type in the song name, click the top fucking link. apparently that is difficult for them
@@lzw3 sometimes that's not the best thing lol
@@lzw3 this actually is the top link when looking up this song
@@andre99249 as I said, that is the only studio kind of version on RUclips. I looked at it
Yeah. I would honestly prefer a silent reaction to the real track rather than this weird demo.
I don’t want it to discourage them from listening to all of the other amazing Radiohead songs out there 😭
Thom was on a bus one time and a fat lady wearing gucci started screaming at the bus driver. Thats where that lyric comes from. This was 3 seperate unfinished songs that Radiohead strung together as a tribute to "Happiness is a warm gun" by the Beatles. Peace!
maybe you should listen the Studio version (cause this one is not) and the official video :) happy christmas to you from Paris !
hero
For real. Radiohead’s live performances usually feature a lot of rawness and improv...not the best way to hear them for the first time. Love your channel!
From their third album on, I've started thinking of Radiohead as this generations Pink Floyd. The music they're making is just so different from anything else that I hear.
Yes
100%
The lead singer thom Yorke mentions rain in several songs. It seems he likes rain. The interlude to this song, the rain down part, I’ve always thought was him finding comfort in the rain. Then, “ that’s it Sir, you’re leaving” is him being drawn back into the every day reality in society, which is hell to him.
This isnt the studio version. BTW your faces are priceless like WTF was that, yes thats the reaction. Radiohead it usually completely alien to anything you've heard. As you listen more to them you realize their uniqueness and genius. This song has to do with a night out and drinking with your coworkers and trying to fit in as an introvert I think. Please react to I might be wrong, I know many will suggest other more popular songs from them, but if you are curious, I might be wrong will intrigue you.
It has to do with a night out and you meet a bunch of mean drunk people. Thom said that was the inspiration when he described a event happen similar to what I described.
ahhh my ears. get the normal version. but it's too late, you've ruined it
this is one of the most honest, raw and deep lyrics ever written for a song, so much truth has been said there. Music isn't dead yet thanx to this band.
Paranoid android was a name given in mockery to the depressed robot in hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy.
This entire song is so bizarre and uniquely put together. Even after all the years it’s still striking
Thanks for the shout out guys! I'm not that bad btw. ;) Much Love & Respect! \m/
Confusion is, absolutely, the best place to start with a Radiohead song. There is simply far too much to take in on one listening. Songs that are interesting and unsettling the first listen are the growers you end up loving.
Thank you, for doing their awesome live version!
Radiohead- Street Spirit (Fade Out) next please. Or maybe creep.
I prefer jigsaw
creep? seriously?😑
"It's not a yuppie; its a guppie I was thinking about" Ah, Weird fishes! Lol
I always took this song about the battle between Humans and Androids. Humans pray for rain to help them in their fight. The line "god loves his children, yeah". That's why they are Paranoid Androids.
I'll say it again Let Down is their best give it a listen guys
This.
Big facts
This is another one of those songs that I think would make more sense in the context of a whole album listen. And you guys would be giving yourself quite the treat to listen to this album. OK Computer is one of the greatest albums of all time, and not just in my opinion. It's widely considered one of the greatest albums of all time.
Radiohead - Paranoid Android Lyrics (from genius . com)
[Verse 1]
Please, could you stop the noise
I'm trying to get some rest
From all the unborn chicken voices
In my head
[Hook]
What's that?
(I may be paranoid, but not an android)
What's that?
(I may be paranoid, but not an android)
[Verse 2]
When I am king
You will be first against the wall
With your opinion
Which is of no consequence at all
[Hook]
What's that?
(I may be paranoid, but not an android)
What's that?
(I may be paranoid, but not an android)
[Verse 3]
Ambition makes you look pretty ugly
Kicking, squealing, Gucci little piggy
You don't remember
You don't remember
Why don't you remember my name?
Off with his head, man
Off with his head, man
Why don't you remember my name?
I guess he does
[Bridge]
Rain down, rain down
Come on, rain down on me
From a great height
From a great height, height
Rain down, rain down
Come on, rain down on me
From a great height
From a great height, height
That's it, sir, you're leaving (Rain down)
The crackle of pigskin (Rain down)
The dust and the screaming (Come on, rain down)
The yuppies networking (On me)
The panic, the vomit (From a great height)
The panic, the vomit (From a great height)
God loves his children
God loves his children, yeah
[Outro]
Love you guys but both Radiohead songs you have done are very different sounding versions. I get your worried about song getting blocked. Great live versions is from “live at the basement” . Reckon you might like the MTV joint video clip of a Radiohead song called All i Need” video definitely causes discussion.
Live from the basement is definitely on of the best live shows ever recorded!!!! imo
Radiohead, one of the biggest bands in the world, yep they’re “underground” 🤣
Megadeth: Five Magics or Take No prisoners
Btw new Boobie design in the works
Edit: no. Leah and jay and I are now all leading the core 😂😂😂
Original version : 11/10❗️
Ok Computer : one of the best albulm of all time❗️
Lyrics are 1% of a song. Lyrics only seems important in music because very little of the population can actually interpret actual musical choices and artistry by the performers.
Sorry guys, I"ll have to be honest. This must be wrongest pick of a version in the history of your channel. The original version everybody knows sounds so different. Anyway, merry christmas!
I want to share this song's meaning to me with you-
I was in college when 9/11 happened. Many of my friends were in school in New York and I could not get in touch with any of them that day. I went about my business, going to my classes, not fully understanding what was happening. I went to work that night after school and was watching the black and white TV in the restaurant break room, seeing replays of the planes hitting the towers over and over and over again. When I was driving home after work that night this CD was playing in my car. The gas stations had lines around the block. No one knew what was going to happen around the world and I didn't know if my friends were even safe in NYC. And Paranoid Android started playing in my car.
"Rain down from a great hight. That's it sir, you're leaving, the crackle of pigskin, the dust and the screaming, the yuppies networking, the panic, the vomit, God loves his children".
And I broke down and sobbed on my steering wheel. That was when it all hit me.
Thank you for what you do. You are magic.
I’ll never understand why some reactors choose live versions of songs to react too. Even weirder in this case when the music video for this song is so iconic and well known.
Simple. Radiohead/Led/Beatles/Floyd etc, own stock in Vimeo, their studio songs get blocked on youtube.
The dust and, the screamin', the Yuppies networkin' and, the panic, the vomit, the panic, the vomit... God loves his children, God loves his children... Yeahhhh!
And you were both like " WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK!?" 😲😂
It's very scary at the way some people interpret music
This is one of my top five, among the best songs ever.
GOJIRA - OF BLOOD AND SALT ft. DEVIN TOWNSEND AND MESHUGGAH🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
Radiohead ok computer is a masterpiece
It's a concept album addressing the downside and fear of the future from technology, it's about the control due to technology you would have to do a whole album review of ok computer to understand this song.best album of the last 15 yrs.
This is one of the most amazing songs I heard in my life. "ok computer" It must be in the top 10 of the best albums in rock history.
When you listen to it again, definitely listen to the album version. It’s mixed much better. You’d be able to hear each part with more clarity.
Check out their album in rainbows. It's beautiful. Am so happy radiohead got into the rock Hall of Fame. 😆
Paranoid Android is a reference to Marvin the paranoid Android from the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy
Unborn chicken voices = egg shakers. The band were playing around with percussion devices while Thom was trying to sleep.
I know this is the first time hearing the song. I just wish you had found the official album mix of this this song or the official music video. This has had an odd music and vocal mix to it. It is the same singer but just an odd mix.
I'd forgotten just how good this song is
Merry Christmas guy
Jeff Buckley - Mojo Pin
and Grace from "Mystery White Boy"- none of these reactors have done it yet and none of them know what theyre missing... also Dream Brother from LIve a L'Olympia
@@awave1 Yes, great recommendations.
Radiohead’s lyrics are like walking through Times Square and grabbing sentences from every person passing by talking and all of the signs and advertisements everywhere...schizophrenic Dadaist poetry.
Alice In Chains: Them Bones
Who loves people being confused to Radiohead?
Great video guys! I'm pretty sure this is live. I think that this song is about someone who is powerless in their life fantasizing about seizing control and getting revenge. I also say most radiohead songs are more focused on the music than the lyrics. Radiohead songs need digestion since they are musically and thematically complicated.
For me, this was always a ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ for the 90s, structure and sound wise. Lyrically it’s about anxiety, depression and despondency, in a corporate world, in a world of burgeoning technology being abused to a solely capitalist end. Well, that’s my take anyway.
Interestingly, considering your disastrous ‘Pixies’ review, Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead’s guitarist) famously said about them, “We don’t use guitar as much anymore now… There are only a handful of Pixies albums and you kinda can’t keep copying them, which it feels like is what we’ve done for so long.” Thom Yorke also has plenty to say about their influence on them. You should watch the Documentary, it’s very interesting (even David Bowie chimes in).
www.imdb.com/title/tt6274582/
Even though I first heard it in 1997, I'm sure I had the same reaction first time too! After 2 or 3 listens, it may well begin to dawn on you it's actually one of the most genius pieces of rock ever written. The studio version obviously sounds more polished, but I like this one too. It comes across pretty well, and the "rain down" is awesome.
LOL perfect first reaction to Radiohead. Keep listening. They will grow on you.
The Black Dahlia Murder - The Window, The Lonely Deceased, Deathmask Devine, Abysmal, Closed Casket Requiem, I Will Return, Denounced Disgraced, Crucifed in Cruciform, Nocturnal, Funeral Thirst, Miscarriage, Dave Goes to Hollywood, Statutory Ape Moonlight Equilibrium.
Please give any of those songs a listen.
unborn chicken voices is probably code for nascent song ideas in his head.
Thanks Vin and Sori, you'r a good company tonight 😊
Opeth - Demon of the Fall!!
Merry Christmas guys. What a present.
Great song! Epic album!
vin and sori thought they could troll us with a bad quality live audio, but radiohead trolls em with the most confusing song they listened to
It's Christmas day in the uk. Happy Christmas you guys.
For everyone asking they probably chose this version because the studio would likely get blocked
He sings like a droning meditation mantra . If you werent paranoid before he started you will be after ...
OK Computer is leagues better than Kid A, change my mind.
Everything in its right place...need I say more😂
No way
Their music has stretched decades now. They just get better and better. Try out their live from the basement, their joy division/smiths covers, thom Yorkes suspiria soundtrack and lastly their album a moon shaped pool.
Creep is probably their most famous song, but Stop Whispering was the first one I heard and is still my favorite. Love the twist ending of this video, as far as your ratings.
While I do agree you would have been better served with the studio version, I’m admittedly a Radiohead nut and I’ve always liked this live version. Anyway, this whole album deserves a full reaction. I know you did Dark Side of the moon already, but this (OK Computer) and Abbey Road by the Beatles that’s the trifecta of greatest rock albums that deserve to be heard in their entirety. I really enjoyed your discussion here and would love to see more on Radiohead.
20 years and the unborn chicken voice still in my head
This version is for a hard core fans, not for a firts listeners.
Radiohead - Weird Fishes
My favorite!
One of the best pieces of music ever.
I was so excited...then the song kicks in...My enthusiasm plummeted so hard my neighbors could hear the disappointment .... Do yourself a favor n hear the studio version please....
I think you are taking the word chicken to literal
That was a horrible version.
Also if you weren't aware Jonny Greenwood who plays guitars and other instruments in Radiohead has made film scores for There will be blood, Phantom Thread and others too.
Pretty talented bunch I'll say
Sori's face when Vin rapping!! Really adorable couple...but this version of this classic sucks
The song version is very important. As others have stated this is a weird mix and takes away from the song. Sometimes the live versions are better, but as a standard its better to go with the legit album version and make sure you have that version to react to. But you are more lyrically oriented, so the analysis is at least not affected.
That was an interesting version of the song that I haven't ever heard. Radiohead is a pretty fantastic, very polarising band. The songs that sealed the deal for me are Climbing Up the Walls and Let Down, a pair that shows their diverse style as well as really great vocals. Have fun with these guys, there's a ton of good stuff.
It's a live version without the video. When onstage live, they tend to sound a little harsh and ragged but their stage presence and the overall great structure of the song make it still awesome.
You hould have listened to the studio version for your introduction to Radiohead, though it's still a great song.
Radiohead's lyrics are pretty abstract. Don't expect traditional storylike progressions. Just go with it. It's so interesting, inventive and complex.. I love Radiohead. You liked it.
Some great live music of theirs is in From The Basement sessions. It's so damn good.
i dont want to be the guy complaining about the live version, obviously its been said enough, but just a suggestion. if a specific live version was not recommended and you cant put up the studio version then just respond to the studio version without putting it in the video and link the song, do a countdown and we can start it in a separate tab. just a suggestion, all i hope is that you dont let Radiohead pass too easily, they are one of my all time favorites. merry Christmas!
As far as being paranoid goes... crackheads are next level. There was a dope den down the toad from where I grew up. That shack must have had 30 windows.. and each one would be occupied by a pair of eyes watching the outside world. Straight Scooby Doo painting action.
Hey guys. Listen to Radiohead Live from the Basement. You’ll be blown away! Really!
That was a weird version of that song but I can live with it (Was it live?). The other Radiohead song you did, "Karma Police" came from this same album, Ok Computer from 1997, which was inmediately considered as a classic and one of the best rock albums ever.
Congratulations on your 86 k subscribers.
Please react to "Nothing Is Not" by Morbid Angel and "In Their Darkened Shrines" by Nile.
The song is about Marvin the Paranoid Android from Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy iirc
For everyone who complains about the audio, radiohead is very strict on copyrights. This is prob the only video they can react to without getting strikes.
HOW DO YOU GET IN A CREW? I'm already a patreon sub (Natalie V) with me being chronically ill not sure how much I can participate so I would need a understanding crew .....
Radiohead tracks heard live never sounded the same twice, went to one gig where the first track Thom was so out of key, I toyed with the idea of going straight to the bar. However, 60% through the first song, like magic everything bedded in and i forgot all about the bar. Stood there transfixed for the whole The Bends album.

Before I read the lyrics I thought he said, ‘Rain down on me for the great I Am,’ and that he was talking about the flood during Noah’s Ark and that the part about ‘God loves his children... yea,’ was a sarcastic remark about the whole situation.
You guys should listen to “Climbing up the Walls” by Radiohead from the same album. It’s about the singer’s experience working in an insane asylum and it is both frightening and glorious. Obviously listen to the studio version.
It's like playing it to your grandad and he says … well its got a good beat ….!
You finally got the metaphor at the end! Thom uses the Alice in wonderland metaphor a lot. Just look at the picture(logo) for Radiohead that’s in the video you’re watching.
From what i remember this song is about an experience the band met in some bar with a bunch of important/famous people. It's just a really cynical view of the whole experience. The god loves his children is sort of like a 'yeah right' line.
Gucci little piggy - woman dressed in gucci
crackle of pigskin - leather.
'why don't you remember my name' - probably an experience where someone got extremely offended that they didn't remember their name.
Down - bury me in smoke. It’s time for some more Anselmo
Please react to Angra - The Shadow Hunter
Old band from the new lead guitarist of Megadeth
Brazilian metal
You gotta hear the Radiohead song "Nude". The live version they have on youtube is brilliant so you won't have to worry about getting the studio version.
The best band alive today
