In some markets the Vitara is actually sold with an AWD system and a 6-speed automatic.
My mom has one in the same two-tone color scheme. From my experience the only downside of this car is the lack of sound detonig. You get a lot of wind noise on highways. But then in return you get more interior volume and better hp/kg ratio.
What year is your moms vitara? I have 2023 hybrid, and sound insulation is very good. Maybe they improved it over the years.
@@sretenjovanovic3006 It's 2019. The first year they introduced the facelift
Hey, welcome to Croatia! My coworker is an ex car journalist and he drives... a Vitara... and a Panda 2nd gen. Light cars handle good. Enjoy the stay ;)
Very proud owners of the 4wd variant which is actually very good on mountain roads
For the radio problem:
STEP 1) Tune the radio off-station and go into radio station search, (the first search category with all the drop down options) and set it the search option to 'none' which is the first option. Look carefully because this option will be at the top of the list and blued out.
STEP 2) Then set the volume to best hear you txt's and phone calls.
STEP 3) preset your stations to the ones you want the most and make them the same for each band category i.e. same for all the AM bands, same for all the FM bands, same for all the bands.
STEP 4) manually power the infotainment system down to save the settings.
... ADVICE, and do this each time after a service when they have to disconnect the battery
Bonus information: Leave the aircon on at your desired temperature and set the fan setting to 1. This disables the stoppy-starty engine thing (at least for non-hybrids) and keeps the interior dry smelling like new, for me at 30,000 km. This may not disable the stoppy-starty thing for hybrids models.
Owner of LY K14C Boosterjet, 3rd facelift model of the 4th generation
-- blue headlight surrounds (like your rental)
-- external mirrors quiet
-- better sound proofing
-- hairy plastic inner rear wheel arches
I've had 2 of these now, both 1.4 4wd. Can't fault it.
Thank you for taking us along for your vacation! Hope you have the time of your lives!
Suzuki makes excellent vehicles. The saddest day in US automotive history for me was when they pulled out of the US market. I've had a Samurai, 2 Trackers & 3 Metros. All diehard, durable, reliable vehicles. Wish they'd come back. 😩
cool i am your subscriber almost from the beginning, it's nice to see after all this Japan's and other cou tries you came in my country to visit, here the Vitara is relatively popular and appreciated. enjoy the sea!
You missed the best bits - Suzuki's engines are very good (given their motorbike expertise - a bit like Honda) and they typically come near the top in reliability/low failure rates in annual MOT inspections. They do have a habit of making cars for niches that don't exist, eg X90, Liana, Kizashi - maybe a Big Car topic...
The radio turning on by default seems to be a thing with quite a few cars now. I agree, it's very annoying!
I liked the 90s boxy one, when you put wide little 15" rims on them and lower the suspension.
I have the four wheel drive version don't have any problem with the stereo like you ,and in my opinion it feels more SUV than a Qashqai
I may be able to switch it to another source. Or maybe you have another aftermarket infotainment system.
@@LittleCar same infotainment system, maybe its just need a firmware update mine did
Regarding loud music… put the car in “Aux” audio mode as if you plugged into the aux audio jack. When you restart the car, it should come back in Aux mode- quiet.
You may be muting the stereo by short pressing the on/off button.
Long press shuts it off and it stays off when the car is restarted at the volume it was last set at.
I’ll give that a go!
@@LittleCaryeah, keep your finger on it. ❤ my Vitara diesel. Enjoy the Adriatic.
AllGrip AWD is an option on all versions of the Vitara...
Only outside of North America would you find a standard transmission in a rental car. At least, I’ve never found one. The Peugeot I rented at Heathrow was a standard. I don’t even think they asked if I could drive a stick.
Well because you are expected to be able to Drive Manual 😂 No one would ask you If you are able to Drink water, right?! 😂
Driving stick from Heathrow always sounded like a nightmare for people who weren’t used to U.K. traffic. Like a trial by fire!
Not the car - just your settings! Had one for ages - good motor.
Interestingly, in Brazil in the 2000s the Vitara was sold by both Suzuki and Chevrolet as Vitara and Tracker respectively. Then in the early 2010s Chevrolet replaced the rebadged Vitara with a Latin American version of the American Chevy Trax (but still as Tracker there). And in the late 2010s it was replaced by a completely new and low-cost generation for "emerging markets".
I enjoyed this different kind of video. Enjoy your hols.
The original Vitara all beaten up is popular in the rural community here in North Yorkshire - cheap and capable when the snow comes - many choose between them and a Duster 4x4 because they both fill the cheap 4x4 remit. Neighbour bought one of these modern ones but lasted 6 months...... not impressed it seems
I've got a 2nd gen one and compared to a Jimny, it pretty much is just a luxury Jimny
All gens Vitara from 3rd go on can come with AWD, with the models being called the All Grip version, only specific dealers in India are getting a spedific package on the 5th gen right now
Much prefer when they kept it as a smaller suv though since they handle beefier tyres well, are smooth on and off road, and handle off road mods just as well as the Jimny
Hilarious range of engines they can come with as well, from a 1.6L IL4 to a 2.5L V6
Wheelied mine by mistake once (:
Really like the look of this car and its practically I just wish the dash area was a little more modern looking. But it looks really early 2000s in its style with just the modern screen
I couldn't give a shit. What's wrong with the 2000s?
I've been missing out! I'm sure this is the first "little car" video I've ever seen
There’s a lot of off the wall content.
Ik zet de radio altijd op de zachtste stand voordat ik de auto uit doe. Wanneer je hem dan daarna weer start is het gewoon stil. Dus geen probleem.
Ali, Zagrebacke tablice 😄. First look on Zagrebaki plate ...
My Ram pickup does the same radio stupid thing. It’s always Bluetoothed to my phone but every startup it switches to radio at high volume. I want to beat it out of the dash some days.
The Vitara used to be the most-sought after SUV and occasional offroader during its heyday. Ppl lumped it together with the likes of Mitsubishi Pajero & Toyota Land Cruiser in the 4x4 vehicle segment.
Wait, you are testing and using Suzuki Vitara with Croatian registration (ZG - Zagreb, capital of country also). Nice, hope you enjoyed your vacation visit to Croatia while testing car :)
Yes, enjoying Croatia!
Thanks for sharing this, cool to see cars we don't get here in the US.
This seems to be a really good value - I just looked and it starts at just over 20k in the UK!
Not perfect, that dash looks cheap, and that infotainment looks like they ordered an aftermarket unit and stuck it in there, but overall seems like a great value.
It doesn't feel cheap. Not BMW quality, but not cheap. The infotainment system is definitely an aftermarket afterthought.
It's a good benchmark a BMW interior? In they long run I see complaints about the quality of the plastics. Japanese interiors take a better long life in My experience (My truck got 25 years and still look good)
Turn the volume down, it should stay where you set it, mine doesnt blare out music when i switch it on
True, radio can be annoying, but there is a simple remedy for this - instead of turning it off, just set the volume to 1, and next time it will play so quiet that you wouldn't notice it. The other annoying feature of the infotainment is the very low default volume of phone calls via Bluetooth. Even when you push the volume to maximum, it is barely adequate.
BTW, Vitara with all wheel drive is available on Croatian market (where this was recorded), as well as in all other EU countries, and most likely in GB as well. And its AW system is highly regarded among auto journalists and general public.
The bad audio adds to the Atmos of a foreign holiday!
For a moment there, I thought you'd borrowed Peter's gaff, as used by Bill Pahl of Curious Cars. "Horrible, s*****y, nasty weather!"
Go into the menu and adjust the volume??? simple.
Croatia? Holidays?
The radio remembers its last state when the car was last turned off. If the radio is off when you stop it and lock up, then it will be off when you next start up the car.
I've had a Seat Leon for a year and the Infotainment system is garbage, at least the Vitara one works however irritating.
Peace n quiet is the name of the game 😏
That radio turning on automatically seems to be a Suzuki feature.
That sadly disqualify the car for me, I would hate my choice of car every time I turned it on.
the original vitara was definitely not luxurious lol
It was more luxurious than the Jimny.
The are really good cars for the money
What Euro plate is that?
Croatia
Zagreb, Croatia to be more specific :)
We need Suzuki Vitara that use 1.0L i4 Suzuki Katana 152 HP, 6MT, add 4WD not AWD or 1.6 M16a MPFI VVT (Swift Sport 2011 - 2014) 134 hp, 6-speed DCT "TCSS" 4WD not AWD or 2.4 L J24B I4, 6-speed automated manual "AGS", 4WD and 1.5L mild hybrid, AWD, 6-speed automated manual "AGS", We need these optionals with old Chassic 5-stars Safety Test, Upgrade Facelift as Land Cruiser FJ70 to Land Cruiser 250. Old, but Gold, Destroy Ford EcoSport, Nissan Kicks (D15), Toyota Collora Cross, Yaris Cross
Well sir, you've committed a pure crime! Going to Croatia and not driving a Yugo, blasphemy!
I've seen quite a few awd Vitaras around, they're still there, just less common. Is it as loud and unrefined as most Suzukis trend to be, or have they improved it?
I’ve yet to see one!
I had the original Suzuki Vitara. Was a great car. It underpromised and overdelivered and was cheap to boost. Despite its reputation never had any mechanical problems whatsoever.
How many times was the word "car" used in this video?
I love your channel but these impromptu videos need a little brushing up. I understand it's all for the algorithm, butmaybe you can liven them up a little bit. Slipping in "this suzuki" or "the vitara" instead of just "car, car car" would be much nicer to the ear.
Keep up the good work!
Nothing to do with the algorithm - just trying something a little different, and showing cars that some viewers wouldn't normally see. As you can see, this isn't my strong point, so I'm slowly trying to improve as I do these. There's a good reason why I normally use a script!
@LittleCar didn't want to be rude, although in hindsight it could have come out in a more gentle way. But it was intended as a constructive criticism. I do like your scripted videos a lot, that's why I subscribed so I hope you could improve in this non-scripted area as well..
Also, regarding the recent 500 video - twingo mk2 is a much much more practical small car with sliding rear seats, but I think they ruined that aspect with the current mk3 and its rear engine.
Thanks for the reply, all the best
not enough solid facts!
Average economy I saw on the dash was 5.4ltrs per 100km.
That may be l/100km. It's a EU car in metric.
@@LittleCarthanks. I’ll correct. It’s pretty good.
i have a 2016 vitara, been fine, but god damn the interior is pure gaarbage, also there's a setting in the menu to change the start up volume
I’ll take a look - thanks!
the Suzuki story?
Sir you should also try Hyundai creta or Kia saltos . They are much better than this.
It's the car the hire company gave me.
@@LittleCar o.k sir
them bulbous rear lights are ugly
Not sure why Suzuki still sell cars in Europe. They aren’t good. Get a Dacia Duster or a Frontera/C3 Aircross.
Oh my god, my neighbor has a lowered one of these with a 4-pot exhaust that sounds like hell and that he cold revs for some reason. It's also covered in cringe toxic masculinity stickers with various grammar and spelling mistakes and has hanging fluffy dice on the rear view mirror. You couldn't make that build as a joke car.
We get it Mr snowflake....
Jesus the audio quality of this video is just awful...
This video have absolutely nothing on the engine...😑
Not even to pop the hood...what a shame as the Suzuki engines are what they are🧐
White noise in video is awful
I hate having European cars in Europe period.
The wifes got a 4wd alldrive 1.6 Vitara. And if all or some of the warning lights sounds could be turned off it would almost be recommended!😁😁😁
Suzuki sells the vitara and most of its cars in 4wd, it's just called allgrip instead of 4wd in their marketing media. They sell it even in the locale you rented it from www.suzuki.hr/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Vitara.pdf
