"Why Do People Laugh at Spirit 'Science'?" is a series in which I debunk and make fun of the claims of defacto new age cult leader Jordan Duchnycz/Pearce/David/River/whatever he calls himself this week, and his "Spirit Science," which is about as far from science as it gets. Featuring psychic powers, male and female energy which apparently relates to thermodynamics, spinning physical wheels inside our bodies and Jews from space, this is some serious stupid that sadly, millions of people seem to take seriously.

It's funny because it's a ridiculous claim by Spirit Science. Jordan's still obsessed over aliens, so it might not stop. Even if it will stop, it takes a very long time.

I feel dumb. When I first watched a spirit science video I thought they were storytellers. Now that I know they think this is real I regret watching their stuff.
To be fair, given how batshit insane the things they believe are, it’s hard to believe that there exist people who take this stuff seriously.

@Brandon Booth It was a big deal about two years ago. He even had a video up where he admitted to it, and there was a recording passed around where he and the victim talked about it. The video has since been taken down, and I can't find the recording, but a Google search (for example "Jordan Duchnycz rape") might be a starting point.
Is the event physically possible? Well that rules out all of Spirit Science's videos.

@@hedgehog3180 the electric universe theory is so much more than that. If you like watching spirit science for the lols, I highly recommend watching their videos. Some of their ideas sound somewhat plausible on the surface. Other ideas are totally batshit. Good stuff.

Speaking of Nephilim, Trey the Explainer has done a rather in depth video on their origins and what they actually were. It's a very interesting watch.

More like the fact that they were not in fact giants or sons of fallen angels but rather something akin to heroes of old. Nephilim does translates into 'the fallen ones' but is not referring to fallen from grace but rather fallen in battle or slain. It's basically early Judaism and early Christianity trying to accommodate the heroes of other religions of the time into theirs as has been frequently done throughout history. It's actually quite an interesting watch and along with his vids on the origins of Leviathan and Lilith shows how abrahamic religions changed and evolved overtime.

For a while I was a pretty active debunker on several "conspiracy" forums.
When Comet Elenin, and then Comet ISON, were passing by, however many years back, the "electric universe"-advocates were front and center.
They claimed (while arrogantly dismissing, on ideological grounds, the idea comets are essentially dirty snowballs) that each comet was "absorbing charge" as it entered the inner solar system. And what was supposed to happen as each reached perihelion?
It was going "to detonate".
As a debunker, the most surreal periods of time I've ever witnessed were the months leading up to those 2 comets' arrivals. It was like "debunker's Christmas" everyday.
When Jordan brought up the "electric universe" "theory" at the end of this video, it conjured such misty-eyed nostalgia...

What I really hate about SS videos is how self assured Jordan is, he's absolutely certain that everything he says is at least a valid way to look at things, if not positive that it's true. He has no humility or self doubt, as far as he's concerned he's more in the know than anyone else on Earth.

Similar to Jordan, if they wrote this tripe as fiction and sold it like "john Carter of Mars" or "Captain Future" ( ... or Battlestar Galactica today ;-)) it would be fun to read, enjoyable and entertaining. And it would not matter that it's pure fantasy with no reality behind it.

Martymer, just a quick note on the « attempt to explain giants » thing (about 11:34).
I’d agree that fossilized remains and huge bones are most likely the inspiration for giants (that and the fact that exceptionally tall individuals exist, and hat humans have a tendency to exaggerate), but rather than dinosaur bones (hard to extract and find since they are entirely mineralized and found deep in the earth), bones from big mammals, both alive and extinct species, are most likely the remains that inspired giants and mythical giant creatures (if there was a need for them to be grounded in such thing).
Which I can be pretty confident about for two reasons 1) ... it’s the simpler explanations, 2) though I only know of European examples, there are multiple locations where myths about things like dragons are very popular, since a long long time, where there are many remains of paleofauna nearby.

You're talking about the colloquial laymen's use of the word. A scientific theory isn't the same thing. Since Jordan's channel has the word "science" right in the name, that's the standard he should be held to.

When I was younger as in I was in high school(I am 25 now) and I thought the spirit science Channel was pretty cool. I was like wow these is some cool world building and there are interesting interpretation of history and religion. I thought that these Channel was some sort of I don't know alternative history type stuff. But than it dawned on me that they actually believed it. And I was like What? How can these people seriously try pushing this as real. The channel was the first time I was really introduced to new age and s*** like that. I knew of Scientology but I didn't really know what they believed in so I would say their channel was the first eyeopener of how crazy these type of people can be.

Patchman is not as prolific or eloquent as Peterson, but at least you can somehow "understand" what SS is saying. It's complete nonsense and bs, but you could realize that SS is outright saying it. Peterson OTOH is more inclined to say absolutely nothing, shrouded in impressive sounding phrases.
Example: "Do you say the moon is hollow?"
Patchman: "yes, I have the deep knowledge that ancient reptilian marsians ankhed the hollow moon into its frequency!"

It's actually not, good sci-fi has real thought behind it. It's internally consistent, with coherent messages that tie in with the events of the plot. As has been said before, though, 99% of sci-fi is bad.
@@PlatinumAltaria I define good sci-fi (extremely unscientifically) as sci-fi that the layman can enjoy (without caring too much for internal consistency). I forgot to insert that in my previous post. This is the type of short film that you watch on a lazy saturday with a box of popcorn and enjoy it. Let us disregard the fact that it is utter bullshit. The animation quality is good, the narration is nice. Again, this is something I'd enjoy on a lazy weekend. But naturally, I still know it is bullshit.

Although I expected a different topic related to Spirit Science to criticize, it seems like that all of it is from the "Nibiru Movie", instead of coupling it with Parts 4 and 5 of the "Sumerian Epic". I saw a video back in 2011 that was supposed to be the "rogue planet Nibiru" seen from Earth the whole video I'm thinking that planet looks familiar, then it hit me, they took an image of Eternia from the 80s He-Man cartoon, edited the colors so it didn't look cartoony and flipped the image vertically. Another one was supposedly "strange sounds from nowhere" that were supposedly the signs of Nibiru getting close or something like that, it was the classic Godzilla roar slowed down and tweeked to sound a bit electronic. I'm not sure if they were poking fun at the people that believed it or if they were honest believers trying to convince others.

I turned it into Call of Cthulhu campaign. I feel like a fraud, my players are just amazed at my skills "dude how do you came up with this stuff, this is awesome"
