Omg, this video is amazing. I really hate saying "It's so me", but seeing how Christian holds those apparently contradicting objectives and values ignites something in my heart and makes me feel so powerful. It is not about beating the game with a meta build but doing it in the most unconventional and personal way, almost masochist.

I came across Christian because of skateboarding culture. I don’t dress like the typical, but I appreciate the satire that he brings to subcultures of fashion, especially skateboarding. He gives me knowledge of what’s trending, but also tastefully accommodating to it if I choose to because I feel Christian has a balanced view of fashion. In the event I don’t want to accommodate to the fashion trends, the humor he brings can sometimes confirm my choices.

His story is so interesting. Loved when you guys talked about your motivation & taking things as a competition. I love the thought of what if I really did that, grinded my ass of and got to the point where the brands are I looked up to. Like acting upon that drive is so motivating. You could literary apply this to anything you want to achieve.

i didn’t realize it at the time, but i came across christian virtually right after he started, in 2016, when i was in 6th grade, me and my best friend were just into sneakers and looking cool. ironically he talks about it in the interview but i’ve grown more into the “pretentious” kind of approach to fashion and he has grown more into the subversive doesn’t really care about the fashion establishment kinda person. this year i left seattle and am a first year fashion design student at polimoda, it always feels surreal seeing a new frugal aesthetic video in the same exact as i have for years remembering just how much of an impact his videos have had on me. id love to have a conversation with him one day, but until then this interview was amazing, thank you for the great work.

Great podcast. I relate a lot to Christians life perspective. My dad always would say: you will either do great things out of love or out of anger. I can see how that feeling of needing to win comes from a strong emotion.

Such an amazing podcast bro! This podcast really remind me about the philosophy about Taoism, Flow, Robert Greene's books: Mastery. By not caring about the outcome, and going into a state of flow with what you are doing. And the outcome is just the side effect of your work.
Like the quote from Viktor Frankl's book: “Don't aim at success. The more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are going to miss it. For success, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue, and it only does so as the unintended side effect of one's personal dedication to a cause greater than oneself or as the by-product of one's surrender to a person other than oneself. Happiness must happen, and the same holds for success: you have to let it happen by not caring about it. I want you to listen to what your conscience commands you to do and go on to carry it out to the best of your knowledge. Then you will live to see that in the long-run-in the long-run, I say!-success will follow you precisely because you had forgotten to think about it”

I can agree with Christians point on the knowledge of fashion at a young age being an ever exceeding skill cap.I’m 15 and I was at an internship for the DA’s office and my coworker who was double my age took me very seriously on fashion cause I just knew abt Rick and RAF runways with a few underground runway brands at the time such as Botter and Kennethize. The reason of this is channels like Bliss Foster, Fashion Roadman, and Threaducation having an easy entry into these brands which back in the day were pretty hard to know due to the pricing of the items. Now that fashion can be appreciated from a distance with groups such as the archive community people actually start to care and get to know these brands setting up Grailed pieces and having their favorite runways be older then them.

About the pretentious part, i think it's more like being a coach for a sport where you don't actually play the sport but you usually know more about it than the players/athletes do or that you have a more objective look on it and a better insight. Also i read somewhere that "luck is when opportunity meets preparation" so what Christian said is true but if you're not prepared you won't be able to get the opportunity
