I stayed 2 months in 2016 at Emily's cave house and rode those balloons a few times absolutely was a thrill of a lifetime! I stayed at the cave house as a base home n rented a car that way I could travel around the whole region for a couple of months was so well worth it. Btw that wasn't a crepe it's called Gözleme it's a Turkish pastry flat bread 😉 they are my favorite with a big bowl of lentil soup.😋 So happy you got the chance to visit this beautiful and enchanting area of fairy chimneys in 🇹🇷. I like you, took out my camera and video taped because there was nobody around so happy I did because to see it in real life was just a beautiful experience. One of my favorite places on earth!! Not sure if it's legal but I'm sure you could get away with it. No one is patrolling those areas and I doubt anyone would care anyway. People lived in them for thousands of years already so no harm done.

Have you ever been or heard of the Trulli houses in Alberobello, Puglia Italy? When I've been in environments where things are like that (Mesa Verde's cliff dwellings, Yellowstone's hot springs/geysers, Iceland's waterfalls (and hot springs/geysers), Salzburg's & Vienna's & San Francisco's endlessly amazing architecture) it's just so intoxicating you never want to leave because it makes you feel so high on life. Goreme is pretty busy but not crazy and as soon as you leave the town things mellow out a lot. Petra is one of my other favorite places.

Turkish food can be spicy, it depends on the dish :) In general they use a lot of spices in their food, but it varies a lot from region to region.
