i always knew about crimson but when I saw the new trailer that said he was a protag I was like "What?", from the story summaries id watched he sounded more like an anti-villain or minor antagonist, weirdddd
He was acting like a cocky anti-hero to flee from elisabeth's hold and carry on his mission of removing saiki from existence "his evil master", if Elisabeth knew he would sacrifice himself she would've been a huge obstacle for his plans to succeed, he pretended to have gone mad and stole saiki's power because he was the only one able to control Saiki preventing him from entering the gate of orochi, After their fusion Saiki controlled Ash's body for a while and did antagonistic actions until kof xiii winner team defeated the ash X saiki being (dark ash) and ash regained control of his body, didn't enter the gate and vanished from existence together with saiki.

I can't confirm cuz I actually din't go look for it, but if you look to Ash design I believe he was based in tanbi kei ( european aesthetic visual kei style), and considering that early 2000 was the time the style was really popular with a bunch of japanese bands going for this style and that Ash is european it would make sense. But I don't know if has a confirmation somewhere on the internet
I like to think Yoji Biomehanika had an influence on him. A popular DJ in the late 90s and early 2000s. Just google his look and tell me you don’t think Ash might have been inspired from him

I was one of those people that despise Ash Crimson do to his Feminine (Flamboyant) Design, but when KOF XIII happened, he has now become a Fan-Favorite, I like how Ash's Gameplay is similar to Guile from the Street Fighter series (as expected from a Charge Character) and I'm actually surprised that he's way more Successful than Remy from "Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike."

I think more people liked Remy than Ash though. Remy wasnt at the helm of being a Street Fighter protagonist, so who knows how most people would've seen him. I always thought Remy was cooler than most other charge characters in SF (was never a big Guile fan, sorry not sorry)

That said, I don't really love how the game kind of railroads you into the peace ending unless you're actively a jerk to everyone. If you're going to give the game two main endings, I think you should have more dialogue choices than just nice and mean.

Apparently the official KOF XIV Manga de-confirms both and doesn't name a winner. When I had previously said Team Japan won in a podcast, I got corrected and told Elisabeth's team won. I know Team Japan's ending directly mentions the tournament though, just didn't know whether or not that ending is canon.
