    Quite a good collection you have. We have a glass cabinet that is filled up with Fenton glassware that are no longer made and also my wife was an Avon dealer some forty years ago and has a fairly large collection of Cape Cod glassware. Beautiful to look at and I bought most of the Fenton to give to my wife as gifts over the years when I worked many years ago. The Fenton pieces all have serial numbers on them and are becoming more valuable as time goes on. One day they all will get either sold or passed down to our adult children.

    I enjoyed the video. It brought back memories of my mother in laws holiday party’s. She brought out all her beautiful old dishes and filled it with good food. She had such a beautiful table laid out. Thankyou for those memories!

    Loved this video, I am almost 70 and remember seeing depression glass as a kid. Great collection, it's so delicate and beautiful and it's great that you use it. A video on the cut glass would be nice to see. Thanks so much for showing.

    My wife and I have a flea market booth we have on the weekend. Our first official date after lunch we spent the rest of it thrift shopping. Every August on our anniversary we spend going up to the mountains, and shop flea markets. Last year we went to NC mountains and bought over 40 cookie jars. So we sell glass wear cookie jars, salt & pepper shakers, milk glass, corning wear. I collect old books myself some are dated back into the early 1800's, a very diverse collection of classics and grading, cook poetry............

    62 year old here... my Mom and I would thrift & garage sale starting at 16 for me... Miss her every day. Large collection of depression glass, but love Carnival Glass as well!! If I lived in Alabama near you, I would be your friend and we could certainly do tea! You have a beautiful collection!

    Great video. My mother started collecting Carnival Glass for me the year I was born. I have all the pieces I know of in the Blue. Thanks for sharing!

    Awesome video. Speaking to my soul! I was born in the wrong era because this is just my absolute joy. My son LOVES any antique glass. He heard me watching the video & came running to see what I was watching. He just recently bought a Uranium drinking glass. So beautiful. He’s now on my case to go “junking” (what we call thrifting) at the Re-Store. 😁 He’s also an old soul, Lol. I’d love to see your cut glass collection. And I guarantee if we lived closer I’d be “tea partying” with you. Old fashioned Girly girl stuff makes my soul happy. We could wear Cloche hats & Gatsby skirts & drink tea.. 😁😁

    I'm so excited that you did this video! A lot of younger people are not interested in old stuff now. I'm a boomer who started collecting depression glass in the 80s. My first pieces were clear sherbet glasses in Royal Lace that I found at an estate sale for $1 each. I was told they came in oatmeal boxes.

    I also collect carnival, depression glass, crystal, cast-iron, etc. I absolutely love it all. I even have the glasses that came inside the Quaker Oats canisters (they aren't exactly glass... Not real sure what they are made of. Hard plastic?). I inherited all of my grandmothers kitchen and dinnerware. Oh, love the blue jars too.

      I have no clue if the Quaker Oats glasses are worth anything, but they are so neat to have.
      Yes, absolutely! And I absolutely loved seeing your collection. I love this type of stuff! It's so beautiful!

    Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I have always been told that Depression Glass started as a "give-a-way" included with say laundry detergent to entice people to purchase their products. It was built into the box.... you had your borax on one side, and a piece of glass on the other....or was that Carnival Glass?

      Here’s a website detailing the history of depression glass. It was given away in soapboxes and such, but also sold at stores. 😊👍

    My mom collected carnival glass. Is that different from depression glass? She also had a collection of figurines made in occupied Japan.

    • @harmonhomestead7434
      @harmonhomestead7434  Месяц назад +1

      Yes, there’s a difference. Carnival glass looks like oil on glass while depression glass looks clear. Love occupied Japan figurines! I have two myself that I got at a thrift store for .25 cents each. ❤️❤️
