The unfortunate story with wood coasters is that corporate parks especially publicly traded ones are so driven by profits that they have made unnecessary changes to the the classic wood coasters, under the guise of safety. For example, nobody has ever been seriously injured on Blue Streak at Cedar Point, or the Racer and the Beast at Kings Island, as a result of normal operations. However the trains have gone from bench seats with just single position buzz bars to then adding two person seat belts which led to double seat belts with seat dividers and ratcheting lap bars and some where along the way view obstructing headrest were added as well. A huge Thank You! to the smaller family parks like Knobels who still run the old coasters the way they were intended to be run.

all I know is, The Voyage is better than just about every steel coaster I've ever been on. More like that and i'm happy.

A wooden coaster over the lake at King’s Dominion would be a good replacement for Anaconda

Carowinds really does need a good woodie and after they do that they can RMC hurler. Cedar point also needs a good woodie since all they have now is blue streak and it's just not all that great.

I think the nice thing about wood coasters is that they are affordable to the extent that you occasionally get the smaller parks getting great rides as a result. Look at Ravine Flyer at Waldameer or Kentucky Rumbler at Beech Bend or Boardwalk Bullet at Kemah Boardwalk. So with that in mind I don't think it's out of the question that a park like the new Lost Island eventually get one and ZDT pretty much opened up the market to any FEC. You could even make a case for wood coasters propelling parks into coaster destinations in cases like Holiday World or Indiana Beach. As for the chains, you predictions are solid, but I could see SeaWorld cloning or copying Oscars Wacky Taxi as a family coaster for their parks that have the Sesame Street themed areas.
Ultimately, I like the future of the wood coaster, I think both Gravity Group and GCII have come up with great ways to stay relevant in the industry, offering everything from terrific family coaster experiences to technology that could make the large wood coaster more affordable and a better ride experience than the surge of giant woodies of the 1990's. Great discussion Josh.

I could see Vekoma trying a woodie again, even if it’s a one-off at Energylandia. It’s a long shot, but make a change from them getting clones of family coasters that they already have.
