Well, it's been a while since I had the honor to make one of these videos. In case you're living under a rock, Ink Potts has released a new video in their amazing "The Count of Monte Cristo"-series that inspired so many people, including myself. And the finished version is simply gorgeous, it was really worth all the wait u
Anyways, just like I did with the others, here's the german version of "I know those Eyes/This Man is Dead" (for all the german viewers), with english translations (for the english watchers who are curious). As always, I made sure to edit all the frames of Ink Potts' animatic to make sure it all still is in-sync. Hope you enjoy it =)
This is probably the only song from the musical where I can truly say that I like the german version more. Not only are there some lyrics I like more, but there's also a certain something they removed from the english version for some reason: That bell-sound at 1:20 when the Count sings for the first time sounds so epic. It appears a few times afterwards as well, and I think it helps giving his part a little more oomph. I just don't get why they removed it in the english version =/
German lyrics:
Mercedes:
Was lässt dich zögern?
Monte Cristo:
Der Mann ist tot
Nichts blieb zurück
Er starb ein Stück jeden Tag
Abgrundtief im Château D'If vermodert sein Sarg
Ihr seid verwirrt,
er ist nicht hier
egal was immer ihr seht
Tot und kalt, war er schon bald
ein Stück Geschichte
über Liebe
und wie man sie verrät.
Monte Cristo (& Mercedes)
Monte Cristo & Mercedes:
Lass mich endlich gehn und befreie mein Herz
Was lässt mich zögern?
Ein Flüstern genügt
So nah, und doch unnahbar fern
Hat sich die Liebe dem Schicksal gefügt?
Zu viel zerbrochen...
Zu viele Narben...
Dass dieses Schweigen uns trennt...
Really like some of these lines.
"In the abyss of the Chateau D'If his coffin decays"
Oooh
Blank Slate! Im such a big fan!
Blank Slate hi i love you videos i speak german but english too and you so butefull
I agree, Blank. I love that line.
+Blank Slate That's one of my favorite lines from this version, quite a lot more powerful than the english one ^^
Also we have that epic bell-sound at 1:20 that they cut out of the english version, so our version is superior ;)

I always love German music. You can fit so much in so few words, and yet the language allows so much contrast between gentle and forceful words.
Allen Holloway I am German and I only can agree.
People: German is a ugly language
Me: *shows them this song*
Zucchini Mc Dippers there is no such thing as a ugly language
Felix W. Agreed!
Isso...
Excuse me who the hell said that?!
At the end when the German suddenly changed to English gave me shivers!
I tried my best to make the transition as smooth as possible ^^
Count Monsparkle It was done very well! ^-^ I got shivers!
I'm around 30 something percent German. My mom has a lot of German. I really wish I knew German knowing probably a lot of my ancestors are from Germany and are German.
+_Chumash 16_ So do you know a bit german yourself?
Count Monsparkle xD i think it was helpful, that the Male Part was sung by the same actor. I really love it. could you please make a version where the whole Song sounds like this? (sorry for my bad english ...)
I love the English version, but German makes sound so much more enchanting.
They both sound great in their own way, but I agree, this is probably the only song where I like the german version more.
Galaxy spectrum JETZT GIBT ES KRIEG! ...ah, joke;)
Really? I dunno about that for me personally. so far this is the only one I don't like in German and I don't even know why I don't like it....this fact bothers me.
qpz00zpq It's ok, not everyone likes everything the same ^^ Glad you like the other ones though.
Count Monsparkle True. But it's annoying when you don't like something, and to not know why. I listen to this and think: "these are the exact same notes...why is it not as good."
I'm currently studying German and it's nice to find good songs and such things in German. I wouldn't understand much anything without the translation but it's good to get used to how the language sounds when sung and spoken...
Whoa. I didn't know that german is so beautiful!
This is amazing!
Sometimes even german can sound beautiful ;-)
Thank you!
Count Monsparkle Yes, I really love what you do!
The original version is a bit more bewitching when it comes to vocals, but this Mercédès though ^^ her voice is so beautiful. Both of the Counts have very interesting and attracting renditions so they're equal.
Still, the German language, in some way, adds more emotions, power and personality to this song, principally with those meaningful lyrics.
I'd like to point out the Korean version, too, that is pretty good. I only think that Mercédès' voice is slightly too quiet, even if it brings a feeling of mystery, which is great.
I can't decide which one is best, but all of the versions have something outstanding in them. But yes, that bell ringing was pretty epic xD
Yay, you noticed the bell :D
Btw, the Count's voice may sound similar in both versions...because they're both sung by the same guy ^^
And I listened to the Korean version before, it's just a shame that there are no translations for that one, I would be really interested to find out what they say. I still think it's a little weird that this musical was only performed in english, german and korean of all languages x)
Oh, I didn't know the Count was preformed by the same actor in German XD
In my opinion, it's really sad... I'd love to hear those songs in French, Norwegian or even my language, Portuguese. Heck, I saw that Jekyll & Hyde made its way to Japan, Spain, Czechia, and even Brazil for some videos I've watched to. Why can't The Count Of Monte Cristo play in those countries as well? It's a pity...
Daiso Dots, and Alexandre Dumas, who wrote The Count of Monte Cristo, is French as well, so I think it would be incredible if the Musical went to France, too, one more version to listen to is always welcome ^^
André Sombry yup it’s the same guy as the English accastillage album. His name is Thomas Borchert if you want to look up more of him. He is the German theatre actor, he was in lots of popular German shows.
I don't know what it is, but there's something about Sophie's voice that I like better than Brandi's. I love Brandi's voice a lot, she's a great Mercedes, but Sophie just strikes me with this tone of wonder and majesty, especially when she says, "Dark, full of desire, and deep as the sea." it just sounds so smooth and perfect.
I know a few people who don't like Sophie that much, but I agree with you, I think her voice is really nice to listen to =)
I can't say if I like her more than Brandi though, they're both really good.
I agree with you for the most part. While Sophie has that haunting and enchanting type of voice that sounds great on Mercedes, especially when she’s older in the show (When The World Was Mine to the end), Brandi has that crystalline and smooth aspect in her voice that sounds perfect for a younger Mercedes (When Love is True to Everyday A Little Death). I love both of them for different reasons although it took me a long time to get used to Sophie’s voice.
time to muRDER MYSELF
THE GERMAN VERSION SOUNDS SO ELEGANT I LOVE IT SM
That flawless transition from German to English in the credits, nice editing! God, I love both of the versions, and I'm glad you made this translation for everyone to enjoy as well, this song especially is just too good for my ears!
I was wondering if anyone would notice it ^^ It can be really hard to cut two pieces of music together without having a noticable cut at some point, and I'm pretty content with how this turned out.
And you're welcome, glad you like it! =)
Considering the story is based in France im surprised no one has done a French version.
Yeah, I don't get that either. It's only been officially translated to german and korean for some reason.
So ! Because anyone made this (and that's surprising me too)... I will try to make a French version of it (It won't be official, but...) ! But I am not a poet or a professional traductor ! XD So, here it is (you will have the english traduction of the French right after ^^) :
*Mercedes :*
*Monte Cristo :*
Qu'importe votre vision.
Mort et froid, il deviendra
La très belle histoire
D'un grand amour
Et de son trop grand crime.
*Monte Cristo (& Mercedes) :*
Je suis esprit. (Quand je le vois...)
Un rêve fou
Créé par sa vielle image. (...sa vielle image...)
(Sombres, désireux, profonds tel l'Abysse.)
Cet homme est mort. (Quels sont ces yeux ?)
Il n'est plus rien...
Mais cela me fait souffrir. (...me fait souffrir.)
*Monte Cristo & Mercedes*
Laisse-moi partir et libère mon coeur.
Pourquoi attends-tu ?
Oui, juste un murmure.
Si proche et, pourtant, aussi loin.
Est-ce que l'Amour vaincra le Destin ?
Trop de grands dégâts...
Trop de cicatrices...
Ce silence nous sépare.
Arf ! Finished ! Now, for those who doesn't speak French :
*Mercedes :*
My God, my heart beat faster
And my head is spinning.
Could it be...?
Could it be that you are alive ?
What are those eyes that does not abandonning me ?
Dark, eager, deep as the Abyss.
His face so familiar,
It is line for line his tender youth.
But why are you waiting ?
Yes, just a whisper.
So close and yet so far away.
He's lying to himself.
Separated by this long silence.
*Monte Cristo :*
This man is dead.
He is nothing aymore.
Killed little by little.
Into pits of the Château d'If his shroud lays.
You are wrong.
He is not here.
No matter your vision.
Dead and cold, he will become
The very beautiful story
Of a great love
And of its too great crime.
*Monte Cristo (& Mercedes) :*
I am spirit. (When I see him...)
A mad dream
Created by his old image. (...his old image...)
(Dark, eager, deep as the Abyss.)
This man is dead. (What are those eyes ?)
He is nothing anymore...
But this makes me suffer. (...makes me suffer.)
*Monte Cristo & Mercedes*
Let me go and free my heart
Why are you waiting ?
Yes, just a whisper.
So close and, yet, so far away.
Wil Love defeat Fate ?
Too much great damages...
Too much scars...
This silence separate us.
I hope that you enjoyed that. Personnaly, I enjoyed "writting" that ^^ (And, yhea, I am French and I love this great book of Alexandre Dumas father)
Count Monsparkle It also was translated into russian. But they made at least three versions(1990,2008,2015) because; russians? alcohol? our experts are looking into it.
Actually, we have 2 or 3 musicals about The count of Monte Cristo but no translation from this beautifil one.. :c
Rémi Silvergold Need some improvement, it doesn't sound very good in French... Looks like you use Google traduction or something like this, no offense, just saying (juste a bit too much lazy to do it myself so...)
English is great...but German ads so much too it.
They did a good job when they made the german version. I wish more german songs could do that, most translations turn out to be pretty bad.
3:40
OW WOW, that transition though.
Thanks ^^
This Mercedes is so hauntingly beautiful. I love it. Don’t even get me started on Thomas fucking Borchert, he’s just aaaaaaahhhhh
One word: Wunderbar!
Being able to speak german myself, this song (and all the others from this animatic) in german are easily one of the best i've heard.
And the lyrics are great
1:34 Holy shit that cymbal crash tho. Just.... AAAAGG GODDAMN AMAZIINGGG
Oh, I never realized that they also added that in the german version :o That's really cool! That, and the addition of that bell-sound at 1:20 makes the german version much more impactful imo.
I relate to that purple pony at 0:39 on a spiritual level whenever I'm at a party.
Why do people think German is such an ugly language? Sorry that everything can’t be Japanese and Gallish but German is such a beautiful language!
1:07 Lieblingsstelle

I don't know a word of German yet with the translation I feel I can pick out and understand a lot of words, German sounds so much easier of a language to understand spoken than French does (in the process of learning and find spoken French very difficult to understand) German sounds really nice too! I'd love to try learning it one day! Still dissapointed this musical has no French version considering it's the story's native language and setting! Thank you for the translation! x
It's kinda interesting, the english language has both french and german roots, so there's quite a few similarities in words, though both languages still feel very different from english, but in opposite ways: The french language feels very soft and "fluid", all the words flow into each other and you kinda have a hard time telling where a word begins and ends. German on the other hand is very rough and edgy, after each word there is a clear cut which makes it sound less pretty but it's easier to understand. Personally, I took both english and french classes, and I really liked english and I hated french ^^
Wow! This fast for a german version? Nice job! :D I saw someone's comments, and I'm resaying it: I love the English version, but German makes sound so much more enchanting. Great job, love it! I like how you changed the credits to version. You are good! :)
"Der Mann is tod, he is no more."
Wait, wut? how are the two voices so perfectly similar?
It's because both versions are sung by the same guy ^^ But yeah, I'm quite proud of how that transition turned out.
I had that slight suspicion, but then I though "Nah, no way he pulled out a Phil Collins"
I'm in deep love with both Sophie Berner and her voice. *.*
Yeah, she's doing a really good job =)
You know, I'm still stuck with full Polish translation of this musical and I just have no clue what to do with it. ;) Or in fact if I'm even allowed to do anything.
***** You mean you also have the polish version of this song? Or just the translated lyrics? Because I think you can upload translations directly onto Ink Potts' video. And if you have a full cover, you can upload a video similar to the one I did.
Only translation for now. There again. I've gone through so much effort to do this for all the songs, that I bothered to write mail to Frank Wildhorn. You know. Since I have no skill, funds and copyrights, I guess it would be more useful for them, than for me. :P And as I took special care to keep both syllabic rhythm and semantic beauty of words and phrases very close to original English concept and German version alike, I really hope, that somebody may reply one day.
I've already written you about it Monsparkle, but I guess my message got lost somewhere in the vast waves of your fans. ;)
vonTobiasov You did? Yeah, I guess it got lost somewhere because I don't remember reading about it. Sorry ^^' But that's really cool, and I really hope that you get a reply from Wildhorn (though don't get your hopes up too much. The more popular a person is, the less likely it is to get a response from them).
Maybe you can find someone who can use your lyrics for a polish cover of the song? That would be a way to make use of the lyrics =)
2:49 I no longer dislike Flutterdash shippers this is perfect.
very nicely done i love how the German sounds * nods* so fitting :3
Glad you like this version as well =)
Count Monsparkle well I can say I prefer it over the English one tho I can say regardless I am blown away
Excuse me Monsparkle, I have a quick question. I recently learned there was an anime adaptation of Count of Monte Cristo, and I was wondering if you were familiar with it and if you are if it's any good. I am rather hesitant to watch it, and you seem to havr good judgment when it comes to adaptations of this remarkable story.
Let me say it this way: The anime follows the original story very closely... but they moved the setting into the far future for some weird reason x) It still doesn't change the plot much, but I still don't get why they did that (maybe because they thought the original setting was too boring? I dunno). Another problematic factor is the art style, it's pretty bizarre-looking and it might take a while to get used to.
With that having said, I think the anime is really good. It takes its time to develop each of the main characters, and I like how closely it follows the book in most parts (they did take some creative liberty in the end, but I can forgive them for that cause their alternative ending is pretty good as well). Oh, and the story is mostly told from Albert's P.O.V., it's all about uncovering the true identity of this mysterious Count throughout the entire anime.
I liked it, but I know many people who don't like it, probably because of the reasons I stated above. Just try watching a few episodes yourself and you'll see pretty quickly if it meets your tastes or not. It's called "Gankutsuou" btw, and the full anime should be available here on RUclips.
The last scene he looks like a cat 🐱😻
Even in German Mercedes' part is beautiful.
(- ;
the music and everything in that show is amazing
It's always awesome to get a different understanding of something through a different language.
I was always curious how certain songs sound in different languages, but you kinda need some kind of translation to get a feeling for it if you don't speak the language. That's why I decided to add them here as well ^^
Wow.. in this version the parts sinc so well, and Mercedes is so great. I love it.
I had to make sure every frame is synced up ^^ Glad you like the final result!
Ah...man I can't wait for the next one
Better not get too excited just yet, cause this will probably take a while ;-)
Okay
I really have to get in the musical but I think I'm a few years too late for that.
I was also surprised that the german version was this good.
It's never too late to watch this musical =)
It's so beautiful!
Unfortunatelly, I don't think there is an official instrumental for this song. As far as I know, they only released instrumentals for the following songs:
-I will be there
-When the World was mine
-Hell to Your Doorstep
-Pretty Lies
-All this Time
-The Man I used to be
Ohh that's sad... Oh well, thank you ^^.
Okay, so I watched Ink Potts, I have now watched your edit, I'm at a lost since I don't know which one I like more. I know, they're the same, except that yours is in German and there's in English and is the original animatic. I STILL LOVE BOTH-
It's ok if you like the original more =) I think you need to know german to get the most out of this version. But hey, the german version has an epic bell-sound at 1:20 that they removed from the english version, so there's that ^^
Count Monsparkle I just like German more than English, so that's another thing ^^' STILL, Ink Potts never fails to blow me away!
The meaning tells more from this videos' german translation, thank you, dear Count. But the InkPotts animatic is amazingly beautiful still. Can't stop myself from re-watching it. You probably agree. :)
I agree, the lyrics sound a bit better in german (and that's pretty rare because most of the time I prefer the english versions of songs).
And yeah, I totally agree, I watch their new animatic at least once every day ^^
And I think it comes more sad and regretful/longing than angry as in the english version.
damn the lyrics are so much more badass in German
Reading the Lyrics with the music was just....It's so much more *Powerful* than the other version.
I literally went "Oh Shit!" at 1:49.
Vita Vivat The translation isn't even accurate. It's not "about love and betrayal", but "about love and how to betray it"
Which is even more powerful, because it's directly aimed at Mercedes
The end was sick!!! It send shivers down my spine!!😍❤ damn I need knew it was this good #Iknowgerman 😍😝
These lyrics are so cool! Some of them are pretty chilling
Glad you like it =) I think this one is the only german version that I prefer over the english version ^^
@@CountMonsparkle Hell to your doorstep is pretty neat, but yeah I really like this
Each for its own have such amazing lyrics
Yes, I really like both ^^
Indeed, I am a language buff so I love hearing many musicals in diffrent languages.
>"Please let me go">Their dancing partners let them go so Edashmund and Fluttercedes can dance
Well that was polite.
It's meant to be symbolic... or something x)
Their partners are like “Omg they’re looking at that person over there. I ship it” so they purposefully go over to each other 😂😂😂
yus. I love it. Nice work can't wait for more.
You're welcome! It will take a while for the next german version since I need to wait for Ink Potts, but I'll continue with my Synthesia-covers soon.
Count Monsparkle sounds like a plan. :3
Holy crap! I love the German version even more than the English version! The way the language just flows so prettily with the music... and the translation is different than the English one, but it feels like it fits so much more than the English lyrics! OMG AMAZING!!!!
I'm glad you like it =) I'm actually a bit surprised how many people like the german version more ^^ But I also agree, I think it's a little better in german.
2022 a brony here.
This is still a masterpiece
I LOVE this language
Einfach nur schön.
Danke ;)
Gern geschehen =)
That bell part when Edmond starting singing gave me chills
It's great isn't it? ^^ I'll never understend why they removed it in the english version.
Oh man I love this so much :D its been a while since I heard from ink potts, I guess they are very busy. But nice work like always :D wuhuuu.
Thanks =) And I can tell you that they're still working hard on their next animatic, since I'm one of their patreons, so the next Ink Potts video will come eventually ^^
YEY THX :D
ahh these voices 😍 I still have to decide which version is better but I probably prefer the german one, Thomas is way more awesome here xD
But he sings both versions of the songs ^^
Count Monsparkle yes I know but I think here is way better his voice is more deep I dunno 😆
Stall Bauer probably 😂👍
these songs are really great for me to try and translate since I'm taking German now. Love the video
Hope this helps you a little with understanding german =) Thank you!
Count Monsparkle thanks, it helps a bit. I understand some words, but I still have much to learn. It's nice for practice, though! thanks, again.
Elisantra ArtosVids Yeah, german can be tough, but there's also quite a few similarities between the languages.
Best of luck for your german class!
Count Monsparkle Danke! :)
Elisantra ArtosVids Bitte! ^^
Omg omg I THIS IS IN MY TOP FAV MUSIC NOW
Beautiful
Glad you like it =) I was wondering if your comment meant that you reacted to the original or if you watched it on your own time. Glad that you decided to react to it ^^
Oh hey I was wondering when you'd get this out! Awesome!
And I was debating when I should upload it ^^ I didn't want to upload it too soon after the original aired.
makes sense.
French Lyrics/Meine Franzosische Text:
MERCEDES:
Both singing different lyrics at the same time:
EDMOND:
MERCEDES:
Quelque part dans la voix
Des traces de toi
Foncés et familiers, profond comme la mer
EDMOND:
Cet homme est mort
Il n’existe plus
Bien qu’il me torture
MERCEDES:
Je connais ces yeux
qui me torture
BOTH:
EDMOND:
Trop de dégât
BOTH - EDMOND:
Ce silence-ci qui nous
EDMOND:
a séparés...
Oh wow, I love the german english translation...it's a bit more fascinating that the english version though I love that one too...
Might I recommend checking out the 1998 miniseries of The Count of Monte Cristo if you haven't already? It's really good and is probably the closest adaptation to the book that I have seen. There's a video of it here on RUclips with all the episodes back to back, though I must warn you that because of that the video is over six hours long. The miniseries itself is only in French, but the video has english subtitles so that shouldn't be a problem.
Yeah, I've seen it, Gérard Depardieu makes a pretty good Count (although maybe a little too nice at times ^^). I was able to see it in german (I think it only got a french and a german dub), and I agree, it's probably the most faithful adaption of the book there is. There's just so much more you can do if you have 6 hours to tell the story as opposed to the 2 hours of the 2002-movie and the musical.
Okay yeah here too. I think I like the German version almost as if it was that way originally. I know this seem moot, uncanny.
well, that's why after such a complete "goodbye forever"? why not make the end happy and beautiful, "Finale-I Will Be There Reprise"?
Dieses lied spiegelt mein leben. Ich muss einfach nur weinen
i love it!
Dang.. in my ELA class we were talking about languages, and my teacher said how come German is the hardest one to learn. After watching this again.. I realize.. she's right!
German really isn't all that bad, the language is very close to English actually because both languages have the same roots (if you listen closely to some of these translation-videos, you might even recognize a few words because they're so similar)
It's definitively easier to learn than Russian ;-)
@@CountMonsparkle Agreed.
Icelandic is much tougher.
I love the German version so much i'm listening to it again four months later.
Awesome, thank you! ^^
yay! you're alive! ^-^
Yeah, I'm alive and well ^^ Kinda ironic that I seem to have disappeared completely right after I uploaded a video where I said that I'm not dead x) Well, the thing is, a certain game named "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" came out and I've put all my free time into that game. But I'm also working on new Synthesia's so don't worry too much ^^
Hurray!
I'd honestly like to see the German subs along with the English translation like on Hell to Your Doorstep, but damned if I don't love this all the same.
Eh, I felt like there's too much text on the screen, so I sticked with just the english translation. Sorry for that ^^' The german lyrics are in the descriptions though.
In that case, my bad on being unobservant, then! Thanks!
I love It.
I'm just going to say it now, because I forgot to mention it in my reaction;
Does anyone else think that Edmund Dashie looks like Scar in that last frame? Like, seriously. It's practically spot-on Scar. XD
Anyway. Count Monsparkle, I think the German version has much deeper meaning than the English. Having watched the full German musical I can say that the Germans captured more of the depth that Dumas wanted to share with all of us.
And unlike the English, the Germans went a step further in conveying the deeper meanings. We see here, the two major differences in the German and English (in my opinion):
1)The lines on the balcony, at the end of Edmund's introduction to the duet:
- English: "Dead and cold / A story told / By those he trusted / Those he loved / And those who then / Moved on"
- German: "Dead and cold / He soon became / A piece of history / About love / And betrayal"
The Germans focus directly on the main themes of this musical: betrayal and love. The love that resides after a deep betrayal, and the betrayal that can be fueled by love. The sequencing Ink Potts uses definitely makes the German version resonate more than the English.
Also, the English, having to appeal to a slightly different audience, makes Edmund's pain of betrayal blindingly obvious, telling us instead of showing us.
2) The closing line. The greatest of any lines in emotional pieces:
- English: "With so much broken / And so much damage / There are no words / Left. To. Say."
German: "Too much broken / Too many scars / This silence is separating us."
Again, the Germans make Edmund seem much more adult and mature, and while the closing lines from the English appeal to a more direct sense of confrontation, Edmund is now the Count.
He is cold, calculating, and one step ahead of everyone. He doesn't feel the need to spell out how deeply betrayed he feels, for Shycedes already knows this. She can see it in his posture, in his refusal to even speak with her directly.
Thank you for giving me the chance to write this, dearest of Counts. I hope any who made it this far enjoyed the experience. ^^
And a bit of German, as I'm only now beginning to learn it: Vielen Dank, Graf Monsparkle, für einen anderen großen deutschen bearbeiten. ^^
That's a really detailled analysis, thanks for writing it, not even I noticed some of the stuff you figured out ^^
Btw, just like the line "Dead and cold, a story told by those he trusted..." references the song "A Story Told" in the english version, the german line "Dead and cold, he soon became a piece of history..." references that song as well, just that it's called "Geschichte" ("History") in german instead ;-)
Thank you for watching and writing such a detailled comment, it's always a joy reading one of those ^^ I hope you don't mind me if I correct your german sentence a little though:
"Vielen Dank, Graf Monsparkle, für eine weitere große deutsche Arbeit"
My reply: "Gern geschehen! Danke für's anschauen" ;-)
I actually didn't know the German name for "A Story Told" until just now! I caught the reference in the English version, and it would make sense for a similar version to appear here. I believe the composer was the same.
I don't mind the correction at all! Whatever helps me become more fluent. It's why I love my German tutor. He doesn't get upset at improper wording or seem to be offended by them. Instead he appreciates the effort I put into learning his language.
Learning German while watching this musical was quite an inexperience.
Count Monsparkle, would you mind if I posted my reaction to this? I had it recording when I watched it for the first time.
Jex Mask Reacts Sure, no problem. I never thought this would be reaction-worthy for anyone, but I'm happy that I was proven wrong ^^
Oh German, My favorite Languaje 7u7 I'm going to learn it someday... (I Wil not... I'M GOING TO!!!!)
Thanks a lot Monsparkle =3
You seem really torn about this xD
Thank you ^^
gutes Video
it's so weird....
the book is French
the play has a famous German version
it has two famous English movies
the diversity is amazing
Don't forget that it also has a japanese anime ;-)
Count Monsparkle that too! can't believe I hadn't mentioned that one
2:05 those vocals tho!
Good or bad? =)
Beautiful!
I must agree with you, this is the one song in the album that sounds better in Deutsch than any other language. Not so different to Seid Bereit (Be Prepared) in that respect. The song is simply much more powerful in German and conveys the emotion of the scene far better than in English.
Dylan Wight Do you mean Be Prepared from The Lion King?
Yeah, "Be Prepared" is also one of those rare exceptions where the german version is a bit better than the english one ^^
Kassandra Hehn
Aye, Seid Bereit of Lion King fame. While I am in love with Jeremy Iron's voice, he's got nothing on Thomas Fritsch.
Count Monsparkle
I've been learning Cymraeg since I was five years old, before even primary (elementary) school. Yet despite how proficient I am with that language, It's almost impossible to convey the sort of emotion that comes from Deutsch. These two throaty, growling languages could not be more different. "Be Prepared" is almost impossible to sing in old Welsh, yet it is incredibly amazing in Deutsch.
Dylan Wight I heard the Englisch Version of My Lullaby from The Lion King 2 and I don't know why but in German it Sounds More anoying. 0.0 You gotta Listen to it! ;)
(Oh and I Love The Lion King ;))
Please do animation of the final scene from this musical, where Edmond fights Montego
thank you i weit every day vor german song thank you😘😘💗💗😍😍😍💗💗😘😘💗💗💗💗💗
YASSSSSSSSSS
=D
Howdy! I'm learning German at the moment, and seeing as you know both German and English, I figured you'd know better than I.
When Edmond says "Der Mann ist tot", does that translate to "The man is dead", or "This man is dead"?
It's closer to "The man is dead". "The" translated to german means "Der/Die/Das" (depending on the gender of the word) and "This" translates to "Dieser/Diese/Dieses". I think they changed it to "Der Mann ist tot" because "Dieser Mann ist tot" wouldn't have worked so well with the rythm of the song.
Hope this helped and wasn't too confusing ^^
Count Monsparkle
Oh thank you! I was afraid that my textbook was wrong. Makes much more sense now. ^^
Count!! I need help. Your videos are literally the only place on the internet where these German lyrics exist. Do you know/have access to any others, like Schöner Schein?
You mean the songs or just the german translations of the lyrics? Because you can find the song if you search for "Schöner Schein" here on RUclips. And you can find the translation in part 4 of the full musical I uploaded. As for the original lyrics, I can post them here if you want.
I feel old even if this isnt the original video
😍😍😍
super einfach nur super😁😀😁
Schön, dass es dir gefällt =)
Helps me learn german easier! 😁
When you saw the german version after the original hahaha
I think most people saw the original first ;-)
I see that one first ^^
Count Monsparkle
I'm Not.
Darcai & Stoile What, really? Then what are you doing here? Go watch the original ^^
RUclips don't send me any notification :/
That didn't take too long :)
Well it is far less work than creating the whole animatic from scratch ;-)
Maybe it's just me, but I think the German sounds better.
You're not the only one, there's actually a few people here who prefer the german version ^^
But, why no German in the description?
Kean Kinman Do you think it's necessary? Most people understand english better anyways.
Count Monsparkle I don't know about others, but I usually love to sing along to German, in German. Even if I don't know it. It's just fun for me. I know I sound selfish, but that's what I like.
Kean Kinman Ok then, I added the german lyrics to the description ^^
Count Monsparkle Yay!
Count Monsparkle kannst du es Deutsch machen
May I ask where you got the German version? Like can I have the full soundtrack?
I got them from iTunes, specifically this page: itunes.apple.com/at/album/der-graf-von-monte-christo/id341049148
It's the same order of songs as in the english one, just in german (which should help finding out which german title belongs to which song). I think most of these songs are also available on RUclips, but I don't think there's a full playlist for all of them. You would have to search for each german title individually.
If you are searching for a specific song and have any more questions, feel free to ask me =)
Count Monsparkle Thank you so much! :)
Rainbow Shadow You're welcome! =)
