I learned about Bird and his dad over 30 years ago! In his playing days I just used to think Bird was the greatest white player I ever seen, by the time his career was over I saw him as one of the top 3 greatest players I saw play. Once I saw that video Larry Legend and learned about his path to the NBA. It was full circle. In my eyes, Magic is my favorite, Jordan was the most relentless but Bird is the most respected.
Why does show Larry bird look more like Larry bird than Larry bird?

They didn’t claim that Kareem first wore the goggles in the 80s. The first episode of the show (set in 79) has Magic looking at the Lakers locker room, including a close-up of Kareem’s goggles, in awe. Meaning they were already iconic by then in the show’s canon.
I usually end up googling the events in each episode on my own to see what was real and what was made up, so this was great!
I know West says he didn’t really act like that but I sincerely hope he did 😂😂😂😂 that mf lose his shit so quick 💀

I wasn't expecting to tune into this series when I heard about it. I stumbled upon E2S2 while eddied up and got sucked right in. Turned it off and started it from the beginning. Obviously it was cut short but it was pretty entertaining. Great cast, loved the way it was filmed.
Imagine if a mob of Black fans chased the Bird led Celtics out of L.A. They would've called the police & all of the fans would've been arrested for harassment, assault, & for making terroristic threats. Also, David Thompson & Magic on the same team would've been awesome. David Thompson's numbers & career would been twice as good as it already was. Also, both Norm & Magic say they really liked each other & when Norm got traded it had nothing to do with Magic. Byron Scott wasn't accepted by Magic, the team, nor the fans after Norm got traded. He played his way into likeability

Well, for one, Magic and Bird weren't playing for the state championship in 1979.
It was the NCAA tournament Championship. There was a lot of fabrication and blow up a bunch of stuff. But it has been entertaining.

Game 1 race riot outside the garden did happen because I was there. Traffic was crazy because they were trying to get the Lakers out of there. So don’t spin that into the later Boston win and celebration. Please if you do more, no biase, fact changing to fit your view.✌🏾✌🏻

I don't understand why Magic didn't like the "System"...And the "System" sure isn't the "System" Westhead ran in Denver, they were up and down in 7 seconds or less. So what's the difference?...The Lakers played defense I guess
I was too young to remember Westhead's run with the Lakers, but I definitely remember Loyola Marymount. I thought it started there, but I guess the philosophy must have germinated in his time with the Lakers. I can see why Buss fired him.
cos westhead won't recognize him and play him as THE star of the team.
and i really don't like westhead, at least the show's version of him...which is good for the show.
I watched a couple episodes of season 1, and their derogatory portrayal of the overall Greatest Laker of All Time, Jerry West, told me that this was BS. Never watched another episode.

They got an oscar winner playing Riley, what else are they supposed to do? He looks alright in season 2 and they’ll show his style evolve over the course of the show’s run and eventually the Godfather will be there.

is Showtime going to follow the Lake'rs showtime era, 1980-1990, in real time, as the actors age? So it's going to go on for 9 TV seasons?
By the trailer of season 2, they’ll cover at least 5 NBA seasons in season 2, my guess they will stop with the Showtime Lakers final championship in 1988, Kareem’s retirement and Magic’s HIV story in season 3, then season 4 will be about the Shaq and Kobe era.
The producer is already saying if the ratings don't start going up, the series will be canceled. So season 3 is in limbo as of now

Actually, racism was going away in the 1980s. They were just passionate fans. They loved guys like Bill Russell and Robert Parish and hated guys like Kurt Rambis and Mark Landsberger. Racism is making a comeback in the 2020s thanks to people like you trying to find it where it doesn't exist.
