      Marla Kris hey there. I am a nail tech of 32 years. My specialty was pink and whites. I JUST heard of the dip powder nails and was floored!!!!! I have tried to do a set of p & w on myself and it was a total disaster!!!!!! I wanted, very much, to get back to doing nails, I’ve been out of it for a couple of years do to moving, fixing the wrists and elbows from doing this for SO long day in and day out. So I ordered EVERYTHING I need to get back to it, and when I say everything, I mean all I need for acrylic. I did give in and order some SNS because that’s what almost everyone asked me to give them. Besides doing my nails, I did one set. I’m SO DISCOURAGED, but u made this look SO easy, not to mention, BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! I was just curious about the speed and pressure u r using when it’s time to drill them?????

    • @MarlaKris
      @MarlaKris  3 года назад +4

      Amy Todack hey girl! Thanks so much for watching! And yay for getting back into nails!! Dip is WAY different than anything else as far as application goes so there’s of course going to be a learning curve. I hate hearing that you were discouraged but I can understand why. Absolutely give it another go and report back!!
      As far as the efile, I’m at around 11krpm and pressure is light-medium. The diamond bits are super gently and with the right application you don’t need much filing. If you require some heavy filing, I’d suggest a hand file to contour and the efile to refine.
      Please feel free to email me if you have questions! I’d be happy to help!

      Marla Kris I did try again last night. Cussed up a storm, and put it away. The first time I tried, not enough base, last night, too much base. WTF???🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ Oh LAWD I have NO patience for this. I have to figure something out cause I have a lot of $$$ in product, and beautiful colors besides pink and white. I guess I’m used to doin them the hard way and my brain is just thinking it’s too easy, and therefore, I can not do it. I can’t even make a cake from a box, from scratch only. I’ll figure it out hopefully. Thank u!!

    Ok so I’m late to this video but I’ve been desperately searching RUclips for dip tutorials since my Revel dip order is due today or tomorrow. This has been the BEST tutorial so far. Thank you! It also makes me so sad. Lol Your natural nail is so nice and before this whole stay at home- my nails we’re getting so strong by using the SNS dip powder at my nail spot. I use antibacterial gel and wash my hands all day when I work but my nails have always just been prone to tearing- and I’m starting to think it’s my actual finger shape because it’s mainly my forefinger but who knows I’m far from expert. So right now I’m dealing with awful nails, too short for even dip. I had to order tips as well. Which I’ve never done on my own either. 😱. I wear them extremely short like even shorter than yours after filing. My nail tech is amazing. Any tips on cuticle care. My cuticles literally look like I placed them under a tractor then in a gravel pit. I’m not kidding. The cuticle clipper scares me a little- I have one- but we had incident once when I used it doing pedicure. Lol. Sorry! Extra long and probably TMI but I am desperate for suggestions and tips and help. Thank you again for taking the time to film this. So helpful. Will definitely have it on while I try to do this once this stuff comes in today or tomorrow. @marlakris

      Caterina Brooks hey darlin!! Your poor nails!! Here are some tricks that I’ve found extremely helpful for my nail and cuticle health (keep in mind we’re all different with different body chemistry so this is ONLY what I’ve found helpful)
      1- cuticle oil. I don’t ever cut my cuticle (that’s scary) but I will oil then 3-4 times a day and that helps keep them soft and I feel like it prevents damage. Also, I recently did a little experiment and massaging cuticle oil 3-4 times a day does seem to stimulate nail growth!
      2- no more filing. My nails were getting so thin bc I’d file the sins off and buff them every time I did my nails. Since I’ve stopped completely (never file of buff my naked nails) they’ve been much healthier and stronger.
      I hope that’s helpful - feel free to email me if you need more answers! Marlakrishelp@gmail.com 💜

    I can tell you next time I will be sprinkling the base color over my nail next time. I was thinking ‘nah I don’t need to do that’ but I can see speckles of white in my base color and I wondered what it was. Dammit. That’s okay. I can’t wait to do French again. At this rate, I’m going to want to do my nails weekly to try all of these techniques and colors 😂 I need a second job for my nail addiction.

      Nicole Wolf I’m telling you!! The key is sprinkling! But that’s an excuse to do your nails again!! I also support weekly manis. It’s self care! 😆

      @@MarlaKris You do the nail dips once a week? Where do you find the time to take off and re-apply?

      Christine Potter recently - I do My nails every day recently lol only one hand tho so I alternate every other day. I use peel off base coat too so I don’t need to soak off! Only takes me about 2 hrs to do the mani, edit the video and upload so it’s not that bad!

    So you do a combination of dip and gel? Do you wipe your brush off between nails after the first coat? Do you also have a video on how you remove these? I use to do gel with an LED light all the time but they were so hard to get off. I started doing dip and love them and they aren’t as hard to take off as gel. Thanks for the video. Loved it!

      Lori Maggart I have 2 new removal videos so def check them out! Dip is WAY easier to remove than gel. I just file off the top coat and soak for 5ish min and gone!!

    Just found your channel and I have to say you are talented! Question have you done with French manicure dip powder using the gel method? I use the gel method and I love French manicure but I can’t do it with the dip liquids. Thanks 😊

    I’ve been scouring RUclips to find dip videos. Thank you for showing this on natural, shorter nails. The only “good” videos I’ve found are all super long nail tips

    Great video! Can you provide a link or specific details on the efile bit you used at the end??

    • @MarlaKris
      @MarlaKris  4 года назад

      Gina Geraci it’s just a diamond cylinder bit! It’s the generic one that comes with most efiles!

    Great video! I wondered about a French with dips...thank you! Quick question, I have the diamond bit also, does it ever need to be replaced? If so, how often?

    • @MarlaKris
      @MarlaKris  2 года назад

      It definitely will need to be replaced at some point. If you feel like it’s getting dull, let it soak in acetone for 15 min. If after that, it’s still dull, grab a new one ❤️

    The gel top coat you use doesn't require a light? The directions for it on amazon say to use a lamp?
