  • @LastResortMetal
    @LastResortMetal 8 лет назад +43

    This show was absolutely sick--one of my favorites.
    I do have to say the one thing that disappointed me about this video was the obvious focus on the snares. I don't understand what is so fascinating about them--the tenors are playing just as many notes on six drums and the basses meld together as one player to play one part between five people. 50 years ago, the snares would have been the ones to watch-in the age of unison bass drums and triples. Don't get me wrong, I'd kill to have those snares' chops, but anymore, I'd argue they have it the easiest. But that's just me :)

    • @DaXXPuniSHeR
      @DaXXPuniSHeR 8 лет назад +8

      I am a tenor myself, and I totally agree with everything you're saying but each section of the line has there own set backs and it takes different muscle groups to handle what they endure. I would kill to have the chops of a snare as well.

    • @retroretro8467
      @retroretro8467 8 лет назад +6

      +DaXXPuniSHeR looool as a snare myself I would say that it is definitely easier to march and it is alot of just chops. the reason for a focus on snares in most cases (in my opinion) is because they have a unique sound in terms of other marching drums and if they are very clean (which is hard to do with the 9-ish person snare line) then that makes the drums seem alot louder and even easier to pick out of the texture. I agree with you in the sense that I do prefer tenor cams to snare cams though.

    • @retroretro8467
      @retroretro8467 8 лет назад +6

      +RetroRetro84 another thing is that snares are often the most technical drums rythmically and rudamentally speaking as they do not have to focus on multiple drums or splitting parts as much as the tonals. The technicalities of snare do make it difficult in its own right (thats why I prefer to play snare; I like to be very technical in my drumming).

    • @KyleHutBB
      @KyleHutBB 7 лет назад +4

      They are the hardest to play clean. The sound is so articulate that the littlest thing would cause so much dirt. And as for what you said about tenors playing that same thing as snare, that's usually not true, usually the tenor parts are made less complex.

I regret it all, I wish I could go back and march, being at Lucas oil for finals every year hurts my soul, A LOT. I still play drum set, but marching percussion was really my passion,
