Its crazy how hard front ensemble music really is. they make it sound and look easy from an audience perspective. But holy crap I don't have that much coordination to do all of that. Hats off to Michael Tran and all front ensembles across Drum Corps International.
Yep. Obviously marching and choreography isn’t an issue for pit players, but it’s made up for with their difficult rhythms and music. There was a striking difference in how I heard the pit music in the overall performance’s recording where it wasn’t as clear, and how I heard the actual rhythms in this headcam recording.
Sarah Ruiz, actually it’s the tuba, at least in symphonic bands. But you are half true because The Drums are widely considered as the foundation of a Jazz band, Rock band, etc. and there is a Drum Set present
TheMainMiek IKR. I have barely enough room to do two mallets! Most of the songs I like playing have octaves that go up and down (for example, high octave Gs, then low octave Gs), and I can’t play it because my glockenspiel is literally 2 or 3 octaves.
To be a set player for the Blue Devils, or any player for that matter, you have to be a master of your instrument. It's especially competitive for people like the set drummer and timpani since they typically only take one, so you have to be the best of the best. I would say and I'm sure at least some people would agree with me that the Blue Devils is technically one of the best corps out there, if not THE best, so making the corp at all takes as much work and dedication as an olympic athlete. All of this said though, anything can be done with enough proficiency in a subject, and with enough practice anyone would have a decent chance.

The pattern is actually fairly easily, it's a lot of chromatic patterns. There a couple funky parts but once you get it the hard part is bringing it up to lightspeed
That little 7 note phrase at 7:47 is just *chefs kiss* absolutly amazing! Idek why it's this specific 2-3 sec phrase that just really gets to me. Top notch stuff right here!
I'm in begginer band and we play simple music, but every time we play as a group, it gives me a crazy adrenaline rush, so this must be like a heart attack.
ShadyCrescent93 keep that passion and use it. don’t be afraid to do new things. that feeling and that passion is what sets you aside from most of the other band kids. take it, expand it, and someday you can be in something like DCI.
Every one of those kids had the same feeling since beginning band, and it kept them going thru about 20,000 hours of practices to get to that level, just as it shall for you.
We had an indoor percussion competition yesterday and Scott Johnson was one of the judges and he scored us 1st place for music!! Definitely gave us motivation!🤩
I got to say HOLY CRAP I wish out band was as amazing as this one. Even with what little you see, it feels like you there. Damn that was amazing. Amazing work you guys. 😄😍🤗
The is the first ever dci head cam I ever watched and I come back time and time again to watch it Edit: who’s watching this because they miss dci season 2020
In my high school marching band, we have 4 bass players, one of which has been in the band since day one. She, to say the very least, is the worst drummer I've ever heard play. She either dramatically rushes or dramatically drags, and can't keep a steady beat to save her life. She can't even play a clean triplet, and our newest member of the band called her out on it, and even though he has just recently joined the band and has never even toughed a drum in his life until now, he is *so much better* than her. It's almost funny how a new member is much better than someone who's been playing since *elementary* lol.
I'm a percussionist, and I'd just like to say thank you for lowering my self esteem by forty percent

TKennedy that’s not funny, and doesn’t make sense
This just healed my soul so much ... graduating high school and not being able to be in marching band, pep band, or band on general is killing me. Being in drum line was one of my favorite memories in high school 🙂
I’m not even in band and you made my self confidence in playing an instrument plummet. You were amazing.
maturing is looking back at this 2 years later and appreciating it for more than just fast runs LOL... im going bonkers over this
This video makes me feel like I am doing something wrong as a percussionist. Good Job
4:33 I swear on this one he says “ad lib” but on the drummer head cam he says “tiny Rick”
12:00 - 13:11 my favorite part(I think I like 12:37 the most because of the energy) although all of this is amazing

Travis Vis also all i hear are the horns
How the butt cheeks do you play flight of the bumblebee on xylophone
The pattern is actually fairly easily, it's a lot of chromatic patterns. There a couple funky parts but once you get it the hard part is bringing it up to lightspeed
That little 7 note phrase at 7:47 is just *chefs kiss* absolutly amazing! Idek why it's this specific 2-3 sec phrase that just really gets to me. Top notch stuff right here!
Bb A F Bb A F G. imma be playing this on crotales
凄く上手ですね!!手の動きがしなやかで憧れです✨
Dislike because no one said “is this thing on”
Jonah Garcia *tap* *tap* “is this thing on?”
Try listening at 2x Speed. It's an experience...
2:22 EXCUSE ME??!?!?!?!
This is the first ever dci cam I saw and usually I come to watch to let myself know this my first introduction to dci
Must be awesome being a Blue Devil, ay?
We had an indoor percussion competition yesterday and Scott Johnson was one of the judges and he scored us 1st place for music!! Definitely gave us motivation!🤩
6:41 Most satisfying bar in DCI Front Ensemble history
No 7:51
Two-Handed 100
This is really nice work👍
Honestly, this will never get out of my head. Especially the fact that I am now getting into marching band stuff and just how amazing this is :D
The man on drum set is grooving in flip flops

I got to say HOLY CRAP I wish out band was as amazing as this one. Even with what little you see, it feels like you there. Damn that was amazing. Amazing work you guys. 😄😍🤗

HOLY FUCK! THE BASSES AT 7:14 !!!!!!
AJ Peal what?
ThunderAnt That bass split dude!!
AJ Peal omg yeeesss
YESSS IT WAS SO GOOD!! I PLAY FIRST BASS AT MY HIGH SCHOOL, IF ONLY WE COULD DO THATTT
This is the greatest video I have ever watched im sharing this with all my musical friends
Where my glock boos at?
Dank dank Papa here baby
I’m here fool
eYyYyYy.
Haven’t really been into percussion til I saw this. I love it
My school just only plays like 3 songs and they're sad compared to this

These guys are all professionals so you shouldn’t feel bad they should put any school to shame and they also got 1st place
Jacob Lee Because they auditioned to be in this.
Wow it sounds so beautiful! Gorgeous playing!
Dont forget this.....
Battery percussuon: Battery and power of the band
Horn players: Sound of the band
