Currently doing this on my les paul at the moment lol. Got a cup of coffee and another pot with rings and pickgaurd. Rest of the hardware is in a bowl with muriatic acid just waiting for the resukt
Keep doing what you are doing with these videos. I have watched many and yours are some of the best I have watched. Would love to see you and Big D guitar get together.
What kind of alcohol did you mix with the acetone? Isopropyl? Denatured? It’s an important difference! Please let me know what kind of alcohol you use. I intend to do this soon
This water soluble? lmii.com/products/finishing/dyes/aniline-dyes-water-soluble Or alcohol soluble? lmii.com/products/finishing/dyes/aniline-dyes-alcohol-soluble

Hello. Yes, a series of auctions for the sale of my guitars will begin soon. Access to auctions will be granted to subscribers on my patreon, Buyer and Maker levels: www.patreon.com/8bombcustom
Many Les Paul owners do not realize that the original binding and pickup rings were indeed white. They use creme colored stuff, thinking that's the right color. I also use an airbrush with slight yellow tint on the binding to give it that aged look that finger dirt and grit will give it an aged look.
Yes, indeed, binding and pickguards should be a bit of a different color. They were made of the same material. It has the color of ivory. The pickup frames M69 were made of another plastic, but they were also very light. This plastic turns yellow with time and ultraviolet. Therefore, we can observe completely different shades of plastic on the original LP. Just like the different fading of the top. By now, bunding and pickguards from that material are very expensive. Frames M69 from butyrate acetate just do unimaginable money. And it's not a fact that they are of the right color, since today's color of the original frames is not the same as it was 60 years ago.
In my experience with butyrate, there isn't WHITE butyrate and the "double white" PAF bobbins were never white. RAW uncolored butyrate is a natural off white color, but its not white. I did some research on having bobbins made and was sent a sample of uncolored butyrate and it perfectly matches the rare double white PAF pickups I've had in my shop over the years. Exact match. I know this because I opened one of the double whites that had never been opened before to repair a coil break, everything inside the cover was pristine and new. I never did research to find out what the pickguards were made of, so I don't know about that part, but in photographs of many old bursts the pickguard and pickup rings don't match in color. Have not had a vintage pickup ring here in the creamish color so I don't know about those either, but the bobbins I do know. VERY NICE WORK, by the way ;-) I've had great luck with sanding the parts and using shoe polish and powdered rust. The acetone and alcohol idea is new to me, I like that you can subtract the color with that if you go too far.
Richard Moroni because it’s a fleeting trend, just like installing Kahlers and Floyds in pre CBS Strats. I worked in a shop in the 80s that did it, destroyed countless beautiful guitars.
I don't think I have the heart to relic a work of art like your guitar.
I forgot to say that I love your music, but would have rather heard you speak instead of it. Great work
While the guitar will receive the most attention, if the parts don't share the vibe, you're project is sunk! Great work!
Extreme relicing - using the gas soldering iron over the acetone-alcohol mix.
Nice job. I like how the tuner knobs came out.

Rectified Polish spirit - I've drunk that neat back in the homeland.
The songs have something reminiscent of the good Broker T and the MG´s albums.
Excellent work my friend. Do you have a technique you like for polishing plastic parts shiny?
Nice! What is 'toner'? Thanks!
Toner is just color dyes. Like transtint. Or aniline dye. pigments diluted in some form of solvent.
Great work! Thanks for sharing. May I know what type of dye you used?
Thank you
Hahaha. What a reply. There is a vacancy for Prime Minister in the UK if you are interested
Доброго дня!!! Суперская работа. Подскажите какой тонер используете и какого цвета? В России продаётся такой? Раствор изопрапил и этил и тонер?
Я использую нитро морилку. Цвет орех плюс желтый. Ацетон и изопропил.

Isopropyl
I learned some good things. Thank you.
Amazing work! What about the knobs?
Thank you. In next video.
Awesome work, even more fun to watch with this neat selection of songs. Who plays them, by the way?
What brand and color lacquer toners are these, please? Or link to something equal I can order from US. Thanks! Excellent work and great video!

Please, where did you buy the plastics?
bartlettguitarparts.com/ www.wdmusic.com/
Nice...those plastics are too creamy to begin with IMO.
Dimarzio makes nice white rings!

This dude has some serious skills. I get that he's giving customers what they want but nothing screams "poser" more than a relic'd guitar.
So.. to you Keith Richards is a poser?

Nice but I prefer a guitar to age with dignity.
love the work, hate the music, you´d get way more hits if you just posted without music
Ur cool
Fu relicing... people will look back and lament the damage that was done to those beautiful guitars
why?
Richard Moroni because it’s a fleeting trend, just like installing Kahlers and Floyds in pre CBS Strats. I worked in a shop in the 80s that did it, destroyed countless beautiful guitars.
