Not enough land to build on campus. Even if there was enough land Coral Gables wouldn't approve a stadium interrupting their upper class quiet neighborhood. Best we can hope for is something closer than Hard Rock, like Tropical Park.
It would've been interesting to have seen the Miami-Florida rivalry go on into the 1990s when Florida had to deal with Florida St. like the Seminoles had to deal with a game Hurricanes squad throughout the 1990s.
Florida dropped Miami off the schedule in 1990 and blocked Miami from joining the SEC... Florida also tried to drop FSU but the state was going to sue them if they did. ..Spurrier promised to put Miami back on the schedule when he got hired but lied... Florida has been pussies for years they won't travel at all the last time they traveled was 1990 they lost at syracuse....
There some old articles about it...Florida and it's fans always have excuses to why they consistently drop Miami but Florida State plays both and have for years...Florida fans will say they dropped Miami because of the 9 game SEC schedule so in other words Florida wants 3 cupcakes plus the SEC schedule...This past year Florida's AD said they're dropping Miami for GOOD they'll never play Miami again unless it's a bowl game....they had no problem playing Miami in the 70s when Miami barely had a program but when Miami got good in 1979 the tables turned and UF couldn't take the heat. There is no 'always' when talking about FSU, UF, The U games. The all time W-L records for UF vs The U, or FSU vs The U are about equal. They always win about half the time. I have no idea what the FSU vs UF record is and don't care enough to look it up. 😜
Great game however Brock Berlin nearly costs the team this game and costs the U one of the greatest defenses of all time a National Championship.
