    Good video very helpful.how ever this vid did not help me tried everything you said and no luck finding the perch down the canal. And your 20 cm thing would be only work better in winter I think not in October

    Awesome vid on drop shooting, im from Australia and we don't seem to use it here. Id love to give it a go in the salt for flounder and flathead. I think hook choice would perhaps need to change to a worm hook to thread through the larger lures.

    I loved your comprehensive explanation of the topic! One thing I am still wondering is what weights to fish. I am currently looking at a MajorCraft N-One Mebaru Solid Tip 0-5g and I am a bit unsure if 5g is enough to dropshot effectively for small perch in quiet water or if a 10g rod (like you use in the video) is the minimum really.. thank you.. please keep up the great work 🙏🏽

      Most of the time the smaller the better just heavy enough to feel the bottom.

    Dedicated rods do have a small advantage over an non dropshot rod. Abeit a little advantage. I do think its 1 of the best techniques for lure fishing on perch. Tight lines people

      Yes, in general, they will have an advantage by having a print "dropshot" on them.

      @@AndrewsKnots not in imho. They do tend to have the action you described in your video. Can you dropshot with a rod thats design for shad/jig fishing yes. But a the one with your mentioned action is better.
      Abeit marketing is also a strong force

    I would love to show you how to fish with a diving minnow set up,but as live baiting is now illegal in Scotland it doesn't really work with artificials as smell was part of the attraction.It could be deadly for perch and trout especially with the odd pike showing up.

    Hi Sir, the perch you caught at the 7 minute mark, how did you unhook it so easily? I catch a lot of perch deep hooked like this and always really struggle to get the hook out. Can you help me please?

      I use barbless hooks and in most cases by close inspection I can see where the hook's point is and then I push the hook back slightly to free the hook..

      Hook size always depends on the lure size. Very rough rule is hook's lenght should be half of lure lenght.

    Good video, but I wish you would talk about why you do certain things more. For example you talk about how 20cm is the best distance for the lure to the weight, but you don't say why.

      ​@@TheFishingNomad ok, I won't be able to explain that as I can't get into fishes heads; if you are asking for my opinion, I think it will be to do with lure ending up at similar distance from the bottom as fishes eyes (as in difficult for them to miss the lure)..
