  • Hey guys! Need to replace your Brembo brakes? I'm going to show you how to do a pretty simple brake pad swap on my G70. Keep in mind, this is only for the trims equipped with the Brembo brakes. Luckily, the same steps apply to pretty much any other car equipped with factory Brembos. Enjoy!

      Haha it's definitely not bad at all! I just replaced my front pads again recently and the caliper pistons were much harder to push back in this time. Maybe I'm getting weaker....haha but I'm glad you found it helpful!

    If you have the Dynamic G70 then you have the Brembo semi-metallic Euro performance brake pads. But I recommend changing to the pads you’re using or the “Euro” brake pads if you have the standard Brembo pads.

    I had the brake judder at 6k miles, I own a 2020 G70 3.3t Prestige.
    The dealer resurfaced the rotors, judder has been absent for past 4K miles.
    I have 10,070 miles on my 2020.

    • @StrictlyChow
      @StrictlyChow  3 года назад +1

      Nice! I've heard people report that the brake issues come back again after resurfacing the rotors bc the true problem is the OEM brake pad material. Hopefully your's is good to go

      @@StrictlyChow yes I’ve heard that too on genesisowners forum, the dealer didn’t seem to know anything, they even mentioned if it happened again they would replace rotors and brakes, so I’ll let them figure it out. It’s a lease any way.

    Thanks for the video. Was just starting to change mine but have never changed Brembo pads before. What I expected but last thing one wants to do is start hitting things on your brakes with a hammer just to find out it's NOT a pin. lol
    When I took mine out they still have sufficient material so I'm putting them back in but did notice that they are slightly tapered in wear. I notices you did not put the backing plate on your replacement pads. Looking at mine, it clearly does not fully cover the caliper piston contact with the back of the pad. I think that is causing the taper I see.
    I tried for find a quick support number or email for Brembo to ask them about this but no luck so stopped looking. That said, I wonder if the taper wear might not be part of the shutter under braking that so many report. Would be nice to know if that shim on the back is from Brembo or Genesis and why it's not a full face design.

  • @jb0915
    @jb0915 5 месяцев назад

    Honestly it didn't matter what side the wear indicator back or front. Unless they are shaped different it doesn't matter

    • @StrictlyChow
      @StrictlyChow  5 месяцев назад

      Yeah that is true it doesn't really matter but if it's in the back, it's just more work to visually check

    Did you ever run into this issue or did this upgrade prevent any brake vibration?

    • @StrictlyChow
      @StrictlyChow  6 месяцев назад

      I never had the issue since I think the Dynamic trim came with Euro spec brake pads from the factory. Just as preventative measures, I went ahead and changed the pads and still no issues to this day. Girodisc no longer makes this model of pads so I picked up some EBC (red stuff) pads from Khartunerz for when the girodisc pads wear out

    What’s the reason for opening the cap off the reservoir

    • @StrictlyChow
      @StrictlyChow  6 месяцев назад

      It'll help make it easier for you to push the brake caliper pistons back in so you can slide in the new pads. It's not necessary to open up the cap if you don't want to though. Just keep an eye on the brake fluid level

      @StrictlyChow Great video! As MaxRebo72 said, and as I learned in your great to follow video, I too am having braking vibration issues (at 11K of normal driving). I didn't realized it might be a common problem. Where did you read about that? I'm guessing maybe in the forums, but if you could provide a link, I'd like to read up on it). I figure that taking to the dealer wouldn't be covered due to it being a brake issue but maybe it's worth it if others have had success. Sounds like you like your pads, I am looking at EBC Ultimax 2, by chance did these cross your radar when you were looking for replacement pads?
