    I'm sure you know by now that you can fire that camera when it's empty of film by just opening the film back and firing it. That's my favorite camera ever ! Takes wonderful huge negs in color or b&w ( my favorite) ! Very reliable and easy to use. Thanks for doing this video of my absolute favorite camera ! Great video !

    Thank you for showing us the viewfinder. I've always wondered what it was like to focus with the rangefinder cameras.

    I have a backpack that holds both the GW670III and the GW690III that is one of my grab it and go bags. Both cameras are incredible, but the lens on the 690 is one of the best wide angle lenses I have on any camera! With Tmax or Fomapan 100, the 16x20 or 24x30 enlargements are nothing short of stunning. Great camera! Thanks for sharing!

    the shutter fires without film if you open the back

    All of the cameras in this series have great lenses and are highly usable. The Fuji-stated purpose for the frame counter is to keep track of total usage, as Fuji recommends that the shutter be serviced after so-many exposures.

    • @larrymccormick3226
      @larrymccormick3226 3 месяца назад

      The problem is that the counter resets at 999 and that's when the shutter should be serviced. The count can never really be known though ! Which to my thinking is a true testament to how good and reliable these fantastic cameras truly are !

    good review! one tip for these RF cameras, put your thumb on the film spool while loading to keep the film flat. It may slacken otherwise!

      It's actually better to put your hand on the take up spool for film tightness,but I stretch my fingers and tighten both to be sure !

    For landscapes and room interiors, I shoot with a Fuji 6x9cm rangefinder with a 65mm wide-angle lens.
    For general subjects, I prefer the aspect ratio of the Fuji 6x7cm rangefinder with a 90mm normal lens.

    Fuji EBC glass is some of the best in the industry, even beating out the German stuff on resolution tests. Their larger format glass is phenomenal.

    Travis! Love the vids man been a subscriber for ages since before the hipsters started making all our favorite cameras thousands of dollars (AHHHHH)! Anyway I love the video and have a quick question. I'm wondering if these cameras allow the user to partially cock the shutter and still fire a frame (this would cause overlap to your frames for 6x9) or if there is a double exposure feature to possibly do the same thing. What Id like to do if this is possible is to modify the back door to have red frame viewing holes for 6x7 and possibly 6x6 (like on older Mamiya 6 and other fixed MF rangefinders from the 50's) so that I can crop the internal frame window to 6x7 or 6x6 and just slightly advance the film until the appropriate numbers on the backing paper align in the red viewing windows for those other formats... ANY insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much man! You gotta get posting again!
    Alex

      Alex Socci ah thats a pretty confident no from me. This camera requires a double stroke to fire again if I’m not mistaken. Thanks for watching and subscribing! You aren’t fuckin wrong about hipsters driving up camera prices 😫

    @3:29 you'd honestly try and trick someone into selling it to you for cheaper by claiming it doesn't work when it does? I like making deals too but dishonesty is for scammers and there a lots of them out there.
    @9:40 I totally agree, the resolution is amazing.
    @10:20 I've shot lots of Foma400 and never had the paper backing come through on the negative.

    • @ForesthillFilmLab
      @ForesthillFilmLab  8 лет назад +1

      Haha well I guess that's how it may seem. But since the camera doesn't work without film and Can't be tested otherwise if I was buying from someone who couldn't confirm it was working then how would I be able to confirm it was working? I would absolutely try to get a deal if I couldn't be assured that the camera has been shot recently. The fact of the matter is that most people who own these cameras wouldn't have that situation be true.
      Yea that fomapan 400 really surprised me when it did that. I'll probably give it another shot again but about half my roll was printed with backing paper. Kinda ridiculous.

    • @jerk4628
      @jerk4628 8 лет назад +2

      +ForesthillFilmLab It can be tested. This camera has no idea whether there is actually film inside of it or not (it's not that smart). Simply close the back like it has film in it, wind it up and fire it. It will fire. It won't fire if you have the back open. That's one interesting design element.
      But anyway, in your video you're telling us a 'trick' to get the camera cheaper than normal (which, the camera is already very inexpensive for what it does) and I don't think that's something that a lot of people in the photographic community appreciate (I know I don't).

    • @ForesthillFilmLab
      @ForesthillFilmLab  8 лет назад

      Look. I'm not "tricking" anybody. I'm a collector and a seasoned camera buyer. I think you must have misinterpreted what I said so for that I apologize. But I'm also a business man and I'm a firm believer that if both parties are happy with a deal and shake on it there is absolutely no reason to feel guilty about getting a camera for a good price. Every guy has a cheap camera find story. Are you the guy that tells them it's worth more?

    • @ForesthillFilmLab
      @ForesthillFilmLab  8 лет назад +2

      For what it's worth I got this camera from a trade for a rolleiflex. So we can all just calm down on this "tricking" bullshit.

    • @jerk4628
      @jerk4628 8 лет назад +8

      +ForesthillFilmLab
      "Are you the guy that tells them it's worth more?"
      Of course not. But I'm also not the guy telling them it doesn't work when it does.
      Here are your words:
      "Which is kind of a quirk to know, but when you're out there buying it might be a handle to get one cheaper if the guy you're buying it from doesn't know that. I always love a good deal and showing someone that this camera doesn't work... is pretty believable."
      If you don't want to call it a trick, we can just call it dishonesty? These are your words not mine. Anyone watching this video would interpret it as I did... because that's what you are saying... I didn't misinterpret anything, it's clear as day. Just own up to it dude.

    What would focal length of those lens be equal to the focal length of the lens for 35 mm camera?I think this would be perfect format for landscapes,and positive features of range finder is,no vibration of mirror or shutter!

    • @randallstewart175
      @randallstewart175 5 лет назад +1

      The 90mm lens on this camera and 6x9cm format would be about 40mm equivalent for 35mm format. The other version of this camera mounts a 65mm lens, which works out to be about 28mm in 35mm format. Both lenses are as good as they get. (Not an accident that Fuji now makes Hasselblad's lenses).
