Finally someone provides a clear, concise explanation of the Draw.
Clearest and simplest explanation on how to draw the ball. Thank you !
Thank you so much!
Agreed ....
This is gold. Best part is showing what the club head looks like from yours perspective.
Finally someone who actually teaches this the right way way ..to hit a draw the club face needs to be closed slightly but still with a neutral grip at address. Other instructors are just saying aim the club face slightly right of target line which won’t move the ball much ..if anything you will just hit it along the swing path ..ie. straight right .Nice work Alex!
This is one of the best demonstrations of a draw I have seen yet Alex. I will try this next time at at the range.
Nic Ted Thank you! Let me know how it goes
You are the first person that I have noticed who explained that swing clearly 👍🏽
Thank you Henry
This was the most helpful driver lesson ever.Thank you Alex.
Thanks Alex, can’t wait to try it.
I like Alex's teaching style...I'm surprised this video is so old because it's one of the best of Alex's videos I have seen. Thank you Alex!
Hi Peter be sure to check out the new videos too!!
Watch this video over and over and learn something new every time. finally hitting a draw in my game and a fade . makes all the holes on the golf course look easy off the tee. Awesome Alex big thanks :)
Thanx, Alex. My goal this month is to perfect the draw. The lesson is clear and all aspects of the proper movement seems complete.
This is one of the best advice, how to hit a draw I‘ve ever read about. Thank you Alex.
Thank you
Totally agree, it’s the best I’ve seen.
This is by far the best explanation for hitting a draw. I’m actually hitting a draw!!! :)
Never fail to surprise me with fantastic, simplistic drills. Love your material!!
Lee McLaren Thank you! Appreciate it
Great stuff so simple and explained well. struggled with a draw up until now. great guy Alex.
Great drill Thanks again Alex
simple and easy to understand,..unlike the other technical, rocket science videos,..thanks alex
This is the best video that shows you clearly how to hit a draw. Great work!
Great Demonstration...I will practice this
Wow this is the perfect Video Mate simple and to the point I'm taking it to Driveing range tomorrow .Thanks
Im gonna try this next time im on the range
Alex, i used these principles and it has really helped me with alignment and eliminated my slice
Really simple and practical explanation, in fact probably the best one on RUclips. Thanks so much
thank you!
Fantastic Driver drill. Tried out the stance hitting inside/out to the right with my SkyTrak. Worked perfectly! Thanks!
Very good tips here to create that feeling of a draw and enhance the skill. Will try tomorrow
It worked. I just went to the driving range. A player for 12 years, always hit a fade. Very good instructions! Look out
Outstanding! First time I truly understood the direction.
brill! hope it helps you
I literally did this exact set up (minus the sticks and tees) on the course to make a critical draw around some trees. The result? The straightest shot I've ever hit directly into the water in front of me.
noo way! love this
Excellent video. Thank you very much
Hello Mark! Thank you so much
Watched so many videos and this is the best I've seen it explained. Great video 👏👏👏
thank you
What a video. Best vid on the topic on RUclips. Will implement tomorrow on the range
Great to hear Gavin!!
I have tried this approch and it worked. Great feeling to see a Draw..I just have to learn to be more consistant, all of a sudden Slice shows up..Overall great tip..Thank you..
Hope it helped you!!
Hi Alex, Thanks for that precise and detail lesson. Completely understand now. Cheers
brill! You are welcome
I play a cut shot almost all the time with me Driver and when I need to hit a draw with the Driver I struggle to hit a consistent draw. After watching your video I went to the range and was hit’n a consistent draw using your method! Prior to that I was lining me feet up right of the target then dropping me right foot back, which I think made my stance too closed. Thanks for the great tip! 👊
Thanks Alex, you explained that really well!
Great video Alex and totally clear explanation 👍👍
Very good video on how to hit a draw
Alex, great video, I have struggling trying to hit a draw, I’ll try this on my next outing
Thx for the tips. Will work on it tomorrow
When you over exajurate this feeling I just top the ball usually lol, I’ll keep giving this a go 👍
exaggerate
excellent explanation mate...this gave me all the information i needed. cheers!
Great video Thank you.
Love this video. Struggling with fade and slice... Can't wait to try this drill
hope it helps!!
Fantastic video Alex will be trying this nxt time out on the range.
Shaun Hargreaves Great, let me know how it goes for you
Excellent explanation. Thanks and keep the content coming 👍
Thank you Dee!
Best explanation I've heard. I'll try this one got feeling it will work
Alex, not sure if you're still getting notifications for this two year old video or not, but thought I would ask. Tried this today on the range after seeing it. Worked ok for it being the first time--more practice will help for sure. I'm not sure or can't tell about your left foot? Once you set up square with the target line, you then moved your right foot back and turned your right shoulder too. Did/does the left foot stay as is? or does it turn a little too? Did I confuse you? lol
Hi rich could you please explain the question again
@@AlexElliottGolf ...thanks for the reply and help. At the 4:33 mark you set yourself parallel. At 4:39 you move your right foot back along with your right shoulder. Does the left foot still stay in place from the initial set up at 4:33? Thanks again!
@@AlexElliottGolf ...saw the below video title and you did shuffle your left foot up as your right went back. Thanks again and love the videos.

Thank you , great lesson!
Nice one again Alex. I use this setup all the time.
great to hear
Very well put together - perhaps something about the position of the ball, in one's stance could be covered ?
Yeah sure! Will look to cover this in future videos
Great tip!
Thank you
Great advice! Thanks
Nicely done !
Thank you
Really great video, Alex! Thanks for explaining it so easily. Quick question - When you’re opening/closing your club for your shot, does that compromise loft? I want to learn to shape it but not if messes up my dispersion from short/long. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Justin Leemon Hi, thank you for watching. Yeah it does! I will be posting more videos on this soon, so keep any eye out
Perfect, will do. Thanks! And the blue alignment stick is for much draw/fade you want on your shot, right? Can’t you open it as far as you want, and the further it’s open, the more it draws?
If you find yourself to be hooking the ball, do you think keeping the face standard rather than slightly closed at the start could reduce the curvature? I feel I've got a good in to out path but feel the face is coming in to impact too closed now?
Looks like an excellent drill, certainly going to give this a go - thanks for sharing .
thank you
Great video Alex. In theory if you wanted to hit a fade, would you just do the exact opposite? Like move you right shoulder towards the ball slightly and open the club face and go out to in?
Great video, my question was always do you close the face before or after you grip the club as I have struggled with this consistently. This answered it perfectly, thanks from the States!
Thank you ! worked for me 💡
Nice clear video and instruction.
mick19421 thank you for the feedback
Alex, I recently looked at one of your video’s where you were using a driver with alignment sticks, you suggested that you Aim the butt of the club out towards the left of the golf ball. I forgot to save it and can’t find it again can you recall the heading. Thanks
Ur crap at ⛳️
best demo I ve seen on how to draw. Which club should I practice with 1st. I can slice and it straight as well as pull hook' but draw. I see what happens
Well done Alex, great explanation. What's your thoughts on setting the club up out of the toe to help with a little more curve?
Kyle McClure It could help yeah that’s true, let me know how you get on
Alex, as you pull your right shoulder back, does your head move slightly to the right as well? Thanks for your help.
Great lesson I will be trying this as driving is the worst part of my game. Cheers Vince
Took a hell of a long time to say "close club face and turn the body"
Is that Rory?
i'll try this when i can get back to the course
Great stuff! Hope it helps
So, to hit a draw, I should have my set up to aim down the blue line but have the face in line with the red line?
I just rotate my club face where I want the ball to move and play through the ball it works for me...It feels like your pushing the ball rather than striking it because your exaggerating the follow through.
Hi Alex, can you take the club back in a figure 8 position i.e., slightly outside the target line on the backswing to inside on the downswing with this setup for Driver?
Great video Alex, I guess you would simply reverse the set up for a fade...
thank you
Thanks Alex, great explanation! Because the face is slightly closed I presume that the club is slightly de lofted leading to the slightly lower flight you mentioned? How would you go about hitting a high draw?
Ali D open the face a little and make sure you swing in to out
Great explanation. Simple. Got a video for a cut swing you can trust?
I use to Slice the ball with my driver all the time but now that I have finally gotten the ball to draw consistently I can't seem to figure out how to make it go right or even straight anymore? It seems that I have practiced instead of playing so intently this entire Summer that now my ball never goes right, even when I want it to. Would you please consider doing a video on how to Fade the ball with the Driver. Because once I learned to Draw the ball with the Driver, drawing it with all my other clubs was relatively easy. I figure it may work that way with the Fade? Thanks Mr. Elliott!
Don't close the Face at address...Open up the Face for a Fade.
Great explanation and easy to understand. Would the opposite of this technique work for a fade?
I have a couple of videos on a fade
Nice work Alex, keep it up!
I've always struggled with the concept of swinging it 'to the right.
As all golf swings essentially swing to the left in real terms... In the follow through
Can you apply this to iron shots and achieve the same results? Thanks Richard
Thank you.
thank you
Always love your explanations and visuals, top notch. The front 9 on my home course really favors a draw but go to shot is the fade, this explanation on draw was excellent.🤙 I have also read alot about putting ball slightly farther back in your stance which feels even more unusual on top of closing stance, which compared to usual fade feel like entire back is to the hole. Thoughts?
Yes! this is a great idea
Would you say that if I had my clubface square to the target and then adjusted my stance to the right, that would essentially close the clubface enough? Or would I still close off the face more so that it's left of the target? Thanks!
Don't you need to move the ball back in your stance slightly?
Hi - Is you instructions for a draw based on a nuetral club face? I have a M2 driver which has an adjustable loft and I have my club face closed. I see when you explain setting up for the draw the club face has to be in the direction of where you are wanting to hit it. If my club face is closed it means my foot position would be in a very closed position so the club face is square to the target. What do you suggest for this please?
Well done, just need a shot tracer.
Great video, what about ball position ? Same off left heel or more back in stance ?
Yes exactly! Is there an optimum ball position?? for a draw? And is the "swing plane" the same as usual??
My slice is back with a vengeance so I'm going to the range now to try this. Ill let you know in an hour or so how it goes 🤣
Yeah please do !!
@@AlexElliottGolf well I was definitely hitting draws! Bit all over the place but I'll keep it up 👍🏼
When I drop the right foot back should I shuffle the left foot around with it. I find by aiming feet down target line and only dropping right foot and leaving left where it was , I tend to over draw it. So is it ok to walk it’s feet around so aimed right ?
I will give this a go the next time I'm at the range.
I'm confused. I've seen instructors say to close the face a little, and others say to open the face a little. Here you state you want your driver's face to be between the target line, and the other line pointing to the right, then later you say to close the face.
Extrodanary video
Brett Karst tank you
I don't know if you even read this but how do I make a draw with irons? It's not the same setup, would really appreciate an answer.
Just close the club abit there aswell?
Same for irons?
Hello again Alex. So is the clubface square to the red stick at address but then my downswing follows along the blue stick?
Ok, now I understand where everything should be.
I taught myself to draw at the driving range by simply looking and aiming a bit to the right but making sure my clubface was aiming at the target at address. Which is what this is. But at the driving range, with no concern about outcome, it came relatively easy. Now I can't fade the ball. Golf, huh?
Please can u teach how to fade? Thanks.
Everyone should aspire to hit a draw, firstly, a draw will always go farther than a fade, and the curve will not be as bad if you over do it with a draw, rather than with a fade/ slice.
Nice good thoughts
You experienced golfers help me out. If you have a straight, clear shot to the flag, why hit a draw to come back to your straght line? Why not just hit it straight at the flag?
I find it harder to hit it straight as apposed to curve the ball
@@AlexElliottGolf That seems logical.
#pickme please. Def going to try this drill on the range.
great!
I tried this path, all it does is narrows down my slice which isn't a bad thing
LOL that ball went straight.
Where do i situate the ball?
So your feet and shoulder alignment went from parallel to red to parallel to blue? in a sense...
