I have a 2002 ford mondeo mk3, with the same 2l duratec engine and manual transmission, in perfect condition. In India. 80k kilometers. But the modern turbo charged engines seem more lively, but I am sticking to my 19year old car. It's smooth, reliable, low maintenance with good handling.
Good stuff, it is not cheap to do, often more expensive than the car is worth, thankfully i still own 1 MANUAL car so i do not forget how to drive manual!
Welp. My DPS6 just crapped itself. I’m looking to do this manual swap. I will dive into your videos and possibly attempt the swap when the weather warms up. Any tips on sourcing parts?
@ Wow! Thank you so much! There’s so much great information. That’s going help make this less stressful. I think the most daunting part will be the harness and pinning. But from what I understand, I will need to run 2 wires from the clutch pedal assembly and one other pin that the PCM needs that the TCM uses as pin 13? That will let me use reverse lights, cruise control and let the transmission see it’s in neutral? Thanks once again.
Ford transmission question unrelated to the Focus: On the 4R70W it's possible to firm up the 1-2 shift by drilling out the intermediate clutch feed on the valve body separator plate. Would a similar procedure work on a 4F50N? I got a Taurus with a really lazy 1-2 shift 0-10% clutch apply time is good, but 10-90% take more than a full second and is highlighted in bright red by my scan tool.
@@kylemacintoshlinux1449 I haven't worked on the old aisins much, but I believe they had intermediate clutch piston issues, which should be 2nd gear, but if that's not your issue maybe they make aftermarket shift kits
@@BigBensCarsAndCycles Thanks for answering. Well I know transgo makes a shift kit. But I was hoping I could try a free fix like what I did on my grandpa's work truck. With the mileage on the car (240k miles) if a shift kit don't fix it guess I'll have a rebuild in my future. Yay 😢. I probably wouldn't be having issues if the previous owners took better care of it. It's first trans fluid&filter change was at 200k...
well that came out nice. Silly question though, the fly wheel on those cars (looking at 2015 Manual Focus myself) but for the life of me I can't seem to find one online ( OE or OEM) It keeps sending me over to the 2.0 Turbo in the ST, you wouldn't happen to have a Part #?
@BMan100 I was having the same problem. I found a Luk dual mass flywheel that I thought was the one, but I was getting conflicting information on whether it fit or not. I sent Luk a few messages, but got no replies.
@jeffreyscottbrock there's the link, it's not available anymore it seems but there's lots of similar options on amazon. And I've got a video for installing it
Hmm.. I don't have an llc, but If I were to do a swap, I'd have to think about it. It's a ton of labor, especially if I'm pulling everything at the junkyard for you too. I'd say 30+ hours of labor, at $100 + / hr
Cost: Total for me was $700 all in. Looking to sell my automatic transmission for $700 to cover the difference. Not bad!
how many miles on the auto trans?
@@itzmegeoffrey Its sold. i had rebuilt it and had low miles

Hey, i've got lots of info in the discord too, and I suggest taking out the transmission at the junkyard and keep what you take off

I think I have around 500 miles on my swap now too, it's also good. Just need to swap the DPS6 into the donor car and sell it now lol
Nice job!
Thanks!
Great! now; do it with a Nissan cvt transmission vehicle 🎉
Maybe I will..
FSWerks has the Exedy OE Quality clutch kit for the Focus
Cool, looks like they have decent prices on cold air intakes and exhausts too

Thoughts on doing this with a first-gen Transit Connect? Thanks for the inspiration.
@johnwallace9467 you're welcome! Yeah you can take the donor parts off the same year model focus

Big Ben I am 6’4” would I fit in the focus? Looking for a reliable inexpensive car to drive to town.
Thank you great video.
Hi, I'm also 6'4" and I fit great in it.
@ awesome, I’ve heard good things about ford cars. Just need the basics AC, Manual and cruise control. Thank you for replying. Have a merry Christmas.
Would this be a good guide for the fiesta too?
Hi, yes everything will be similar
Hi Ben, I noticed the radio in your car, looks like a good fit. Do you know the radio brand?
