    Nice eclectic mix especially the Costain. Motorsports definitely ran in the Costain blood as it was Frank Costain’s brother Mike who teamed up with Keith Duckworth to form the legendary engine builders Cosworth.

    Wow what a great turnout and wow a Costin too. Frank Costin was a pioneer in the art of using plywood as a structural material to build cars such as the early Marcos cars and the Costin Nathan GT. Just wow. Also hats off to the restorer he's done an amazing job on an unbelievably rare car. Id have equally been as geek ridden as you were Ian as those cars are just not seen. its like the time I saw a Lancia 037 or a Matra Murena, rare as hens teeth in the UK. such a great video thanks for great content as always from you both and thanks for sharing

    That's a good show, and I'll comment on a few. The early VW Kombis, when I was growing up in the 60's, were oft referred to as Hitler's revenge, as they were rather terrible in the first place, and became more so as they wore out. That's pretty funny considering what they are worth now! On the TR4A, one good thing about them is that their popularity makes Vanguard ownership a whole lot more viable, as many parts being remanufactured for TR2/3/4 are perfectly compatible with Vanguards. You picked the 49 Ford in the end. This is the full sized American Ford - their first truly postwar design and their first to have independent front suspension. On Armstrong Siddeleys being named after aircraft, there are exceptions, these being the 2 models of ute they produced based on the Hurricane. They were the Station Coupe and the Utility Coupe, the Station Coupe being a twin cab. They were made in the UK, with most but not all going to Australia. I'm afraid that I always thought the Hurricane's styling a bit unfortunate. Cheers.

    • @davidwelch6796
      @davidwelch6796 18 дней назад

      And while we are on the subject of Armstrong Siddeleys we should not forget the post war Sapphire range (346 and Star both large and elegant, while the 234 and 236 were much smaller and blessed with less elegant coachwork but both had excellent performance and handling for their era) which were named after the Sapphire jet engines, also made by Armstrong Siddeley.

    Please pass on to Miss HubNut that I too went to the now-defunct Penscynor Wild Life Park! A few times, in fact. First time was when I was about five year old on a school trip. Then a few visits later on where I was old enough to ride the bobsled. They also had a few motorised ride-on vehicles, also for children. And an attraction where you could control radio controlled cars. I know there were animals there too, but nearly every memory of that park is of it's vehicle-based attractions! lol

    DVLA prohibit the use of a number plate with year identifier being used to make a vehicle appear to be younger. ( You can however use a plate which makes your car seem older legally). That one owner Capri will be a 1971 model and not a 1969 model as advertised. Just checked both DVLA website and GOV.UK websites to confirm this.

    • @HubNut
      @HubNut  21 день назад +1

      That's the rule now, it wasn't the rule back in the 1970s. The identifier would simply be the year it was first registered, whether delayed for some reason or if the car was imported.

    Ian, wonder if you can help? In the late 80’s I lived in Pembrokeshire and was once passed near Cardigan by a 3 wheeler that looked like a Citroen Dyane, but with a single rear wheel in the middle. It definitely wasn’t a lomax or similar, as the whole body was too standard looking apart from the tapered in rear. Any ideas, as I’ve always been puzzled by it?

Baby Bertha runs a chevrolet v8 but its original Repco I think is in a chevron racer.
