Hello dlow! I have been watching your videos since I was 12yo (have been watching u from 2019 swissbeatbox solo battles), and I absolutely love you dlow , u are a role model for me and an inspiration to be a beatboxer. Thx bro!!
Didn't want to clarify on the no touching rule? It's pretty ambivalent stuff obviously, if even the judges don't know what to do about it despite it being a rule. Afterwards River said on social media that Abo Ice was toxic here, but then said Ice apologised to him so now they're cool... I remember Footbox G saying battle tactics are cool as long as they are respectful... but who gets to decide what constitutes that and what does not? This is obviously slippery stuff.
It's not as slippery slope as you think. If two friends battle and they touch each other, (sometimes accidentally like Footboxg's punch against River) then it won't be noted much. However, when somebody is very clearly uncomfortable, makes the sign to give him space, and still the opponent touches him, that should be a sign that it's something wrong that's happening.
Any kind of touching is clearly out of bounds because it can risk messing with your opponents performance. If they know each other well and clearly don’t mind it can be overlooked sometimes, but it’s always better not to.
One thing I don’t enjoy about rivers battles is that when his opponent is battling him he just faces forward ignoring his opponent, it could be a battle tactic but I find it ignorant ignoring your opponent. He seems to expect the opponent to face him but doesn’t give the same courtesy back. Then when the opponent tries to get him to look it’s the give me space vibe. Just something I don’t enjoy from Rivers side. I understand the no touching but its odd the situation.

AboIce has an energetic nature. Abo wanted to beatbox and have fun in his round. but River was cold towards Abo as if he was in a fight battle. River acted as if Abo wasn't there. River seemed to isolate himself from the battle while Abo was beatboxing. so Abo wanted to pull River back into the battle and soften the mood. so he made a little touch. River, overreacted to this touch. River showed the same cold attitude towards Momimaru. Momimaru reacted to River with a beat during the 2nd round. I also remember Zekka's touch to Colaps in gbb21. Zekka had overstepped his bounds. But in gbb23, when River was cold to most of the contestants like that, the other contestants couldn't hide their reactions. so I found Abo's touch normal. After all, beatboxing is an art for friendship and fun. It's sad to see this kind of cold behavior. I'm actually a big River fan. When I was watching Gbb23 live on air, when this encounter came up, I wondered if they had problems before. but now that I reevaluate, I think River was unfair to Abo.
That was fair points and if you talk about that i can understand about 'touching' part. If you remember when tomaz battling codfish, coldfish gave a cold attitude to tomaz, and tomaz here doing more smart approach so he said "it's battle so look at me" it definitely get the battle point that u didn't need to do such touchy approach (in my opinion). After all, it is a BATTLE not a talent show, and the battle aspects are nothing personal, you can see Abo going for the hug right away after they are done.
I wonder what would happen when dlow with his skilllevel now would enter the battels again :D I think he would destroy every single cell out of his opponent :D
Abo Ice was more aggressive and he definitely had cool beats but his antics ended speaking more than his music tbh. If you strip back antics (which I don't think counts for points???) and purely based on music, River's skills did the talking for him. More variety, skill, and better execution. Not to say Ice wasn't original at all, because it's still a close battle but it becomes clearer when you realize the tool box he has vs River. Ice in terms of structure and style was like 2021 Inertia. Very unique sound, very unique beats, but comes short in musicality. Music school graduates might understand this but it's like watching a less technical, but more musically expressive musician go up against an opponent with amazing and fast technique but they play technical stuff like Flight of the Bumblebee.
I feel like Ice was a bit too much, his beats were sick af but they had no story behind them, at least that's what i felt from them, River had much more control of the battle itself and of himself for not overreacting at Ice for touching him lol
Many people don’t understand, but it just my opinion that abo ice in round 2 just doing a same thing / a same stuff like before, like the tempo / technic or effect at the same time. And also we know river always bring a musicallity, but in every round he always bring something new that can be surprising and unexpected for everyone. So yeah, river deserve this. But abo ice is a beast 🔥🔥❤️❤️
And with some manners. If you need to harrass your opponent on stage and don't get along only using your skills, you should not be competing in beatbox battles...
Imo the touching was justified as River was just standing in the front middle of the podium limiting Ice's movement and potential communication with the crowd. This is a smart move but this part of the stage should be from the one whose turn it is, thus River complaining about Ice slightly pushing and touching while obstructing himself and, as visible in the transition from Ice to River, not moving an Inch is unjustified imo
@@stanleyf9923 what im talking about is my observation.....agree, disagree, don't care. I just see it's become more competitive, which has taken away some of the love they used to share on stage. Not saying that's such a bad thing as competition helps beatbox progress, just a different vibe out there now.
XD I thought of that as well. Idk how the rules are worded for no touching or whatever. But I think they should be allowed to act like it's a battle,it's entertaining. However, they should be mindful of their competitor and if they aren't into that vibe than they should just dial it back a little. Seemed as if ice was trying to provoke him after river was clearly uncomfortable which honestly made me dislike him. Although I think River was being a tad dramatic about it all as well. Pretty cringe overall imo
@@davalph970It hurt B-Art apparently, because he had some medical issue with his head. (Also apparently why he wears a cap). But DLow did it as an entertainment rather than to provoke or harass the opponent. Plus I assume DLow didn't know about B-Art's issue.
@@coryallen2863I think River was being dramatic about it, because River and Ice don't know each other. It's the reason why he let Napom touch him and didn't bother too much with the Footboxg punch. He knows them, and so knows they don't really mean to make it antagonistic. Same as Colaps v Zekka initially where Colaps laughed it off, but when Zekka held his head too hard, even Colaps got pissed. So even as an acquaintance there are certain boundaries and undoubtedly as a new stranger, you keep more boundaries for them.
I thought this was the best battle of GBB 2023. I would have had them even but now hearing your judgement I can see why River won. I wish they went one more round to let it all go but River had better musicality for sure. Ice just made me feel the tension and energy which was more battle vibes. Guess that why I thought it was even.
Yes no one said river didn't deserve it, but to be honest this is the first time for Ice in GBB and he is top 4 , so GG for both I think next year it will be more fire on the stage , see you guys there
Because Ice touched River, I was no longer focusing fully on his incredible rounds, but his stepping of boundaries. He really shot himself in the foot there imo. Obviously getting close and personal is fine btw (it’s just the touching that makes the battle vibe quite odd)
For me, as you said, it’s like shooting yourself in the foot. Like, you don’t want to give the judges any reason to not give you their vote. In the heat of the moment you can’t help yourself but those votes against you are the consequences.
@@nxmmsOMG HE PUSHED HIM OMG HE PUNCHED HIM Instead of reaching the bs that one day such comments might reach, all physical touching that is very clearly uncomfortable and not accepted by the other competitor must be acknowledged
Fully agree, I was taken out of the fun energy instantly. For me, any time a battler lets the aggressive energy spill over into invading personal space and touching, they immediately lose points. I know it's called a "battle," but it's a "beatbox battle." Let your music and your techniques fight for you, don't be a meathead.
I posted this already under the original video and I do it again here: No means no. Everything else is harrassment. I do not understand, why Abo is not critizised more by the community for this missbehaviour. River made clear, that he doesn't like that. Abo neither apologized nor stoped behaving like that. And also his insecurities when his opponent is battling. I really don't get it. Zekka at least apologized and posted a statement. It looks like Abo simply doesn't care. The fact, that the community doesn't care, doesn't make it better. So here a question for everyone, who ignores this: What is wrong with you?
That was a one time thing and the opponent didn't indicate that this was a problem for him. Obviously, you shouldn't be doing that neither, but comparing this with what Ice did is really not justified at all...

Guys this is just a hunch but I feel like d low might participate in the next gbb
Hold up hold up.... we still have to get through Wing or Napom? Oh boy...
what was the sound at the end there mate
Hey D-Low, when you said, that touching isn´t allowed during the battle, how do you feel about the battle against B-art in 2019?
XD I thought of that as well. Idk how the rules are worded for no touching or whatever. But I think they should be allowed to act like it's a battle,it's entertaining. However, they should be mindful of their competitor and if they aren't into that vibe than they should just dial it back a little. Seemed as if ice was trying to provoke him after river was clearly uncomfortable which honestly made me dislike him. Although I think River was being a tad dramatic about it all as well. Pretty cringe overall imo
it was his cap 😁
I don’t think D-low would do the hat thing again in a live battle.
River second round Dlow style❤
abo iceめちゃくちゃ好き
Face to face, insane
I love you d low
Well Dlow said something about touching isn't allowed. Back in 2019 dlow against B-ART where he used the cap from B-ART
8:58. When ALEM gets in the RIVER.. 🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊❤❤❤
Pause
river touch napom's face in final!
and still winning
@@MTSz_14coping?
River and Napom know each other and so know the limits. Ice was a stranger to River.
@@AbhishekNair2k ya thats a good point
@@darkknight3037copium?
gbb is okay, but can we also talk about wesley vissers winning the arnold classic to ramon dino🤑🤑
you should analysis stitch vs napom in haten beatbox 5.0
River just really said the tagalog swear word Ta*g-in*-m* XD
I thought this was the best battle of GBB 2023. I would have had them even but now hearing your judgement I can see why River won. I wish they went one more round to let it all go but River had better musicality for sure. Ice just made me feel the tension and energy which was more battle vibes. Guess that why I thought it was even.
Did when ice touch rever you change your mind with the choice?
Bros Ice kill it and his sounds are more punchy, Unique and Tasty for battling
river is more complex and cleaner 🔥🌊
@@florianstreb5145 ice is a more common choice
@darkknig Ice is terrible compared to River. Discord Beatboxer vs World Champ lol
@@wooshbait36how can you even say that, given the closeness of the battle we all just watched?
Yes no one said river didn't deserve it, but to be honest this is the first time for Ice in GBB and he is top 4 , so GG for both I think next year it will be more fire on the stage , see you guys there
Angry D-low vs Abo Ice when?
5:21
yes?since when do we just ignore following the rules whatthefuck?why is this even something youd need to think about?
NEXT YEAR PLS COMPETE
Ice is crazy 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Because Ice touched River, I was no longer focusing fully on his incredible rounds, but his stepping of boundaries. He really shot himself in the foot there imo.
Obviously getting close and personal is fine btw (it’s just the touching that makes the battle vibe quite odd)
OMG HE TOUCHED HIM
For me, as you said, it’s like shooting yourself in the foot. Like, you don’t want to give the judges any reason to not give you their vote. In the heat of the moment you can’t help yourself but those votes against you are the consequences.
@@nxmmsOMG HE PUSHED HIM
OMG HE PUNCHED HIM
Instead of reaching the bs that one day such comments might reach, all physical touching that is very clearly uncomfortable and not accepted by the other competitor must be acknowledged
softies smh
Fully agree, I was taken out of the fun energy instantly. For me, any time a battler lets the aggressive energy spill over into invading personal space and touching, they immediately lose points. I know it's called a "battle," but it's a "beatbox battle." Let your music and your techniques fight for you, don't be a meathead.
Yoo Dlow Cod Fish is back please react to hit ❤
Greetings from Turkiye ♡
What about the fact of touching? Is that a penalty or disqualification?
Unwritten rule
@@kyanbeyrie4659 so the rule were broken for more than once in this battle
Please make a reaction video to codfish's new song D LOW
Ngl ices rounds sounded reall similar to his rounds vs andriode
I posted this already under the original video and I do it again here:
No means no. So here a question for everyone, who ignores this:
What is wrong with you?
look who is talking, you stole the hat😂
That was a one time thing and the opponent didn't indicate that this was a problem for him. Obviously, you shouldn't be doing that neither, but comparing this with what Ice did is really not justified at all...
