Lyrics:
Box on a desk
Next to a castle of glass
That they bought from the airport
The price on the back
Shelves overflow
With photographs and bones
A museum of someone
That will never be known
Pennies for thoughts
That cost a mountain of debt
Rusting in bottles
They’ll never come to collect
They’ll never come to collect
And you were sure that you could keep it all
Off in a tower where there’d always be space
And you were sure that if you read it all
You would eventually come across your own name
Daffodils hanging off a rearview of lies
You keep your foot on the pedal
And you can’t see outside.
Boxes of novels
Fill all the seats and the trunk
There’s barely room for a driver
In this treasure chest of junk
And the tower is crumbling
And you are thinking of running
From all these years of commitment
To keep this dead garden growing
To keep this dead garden growing
And you were sure that you could learn it all
And if you did than you would always be safe
And you were sure that you could use it all
To build a fortress they could never take
It’s got to be around here somewhere
Maybe you’re really going mad
Maybe it’s buried in the old school
Maybe you never really
And now you’re starting look
A little like someone in a book
You’ve tucked yourself inside
Your body pressed and dried
Fairies and princes
And the story doesn’t change
He keeps slaying the dragon
She’s still chained to the cage
And it’s time to retire
But you can’t give up the title
As the head of collections
For these dead letter files
As the head of collections
For these dead letter files
And you were sure that you could keep it all locked
And all the nice dark things would never get lit
And you were sure that you could keep them out
And you were sure that you could keep yourself hid
It’s got to be around here somewhere
Maybe it’s under mom and dad
Maybe you wrote it in your diary
Maybe you never really
It’s got to be around here somewhere
Maybe you have it to your son
Maybe it’s time you just admit that
Maybe you never really had
A past worth passing on. - Видеоклипы
my mind trips on the elegance of your metaphors.

Evelyn Evelyn and Icarus *_*
This song came out the week I had moved into a new apartment after my boyfriend had left me 8 months prior. We grew up together, thought we were going to get married and have a kid someday. I will always be grateful for the spectacular timing of the release of this song when I needed to hear it.
oh my god these songs are so beautiful i'm crying
This one is my favorite so far. Btw, the illustrations are simply marvelous ~
Oh my. Amanda, I can never thank you enough. Truly. This song only just appeared to me now, just exactly at the right time. You always do. Thank you.

This song really reminds me of the WKAP era and I love it
Wonderful.
This reminds me of a desperate attempt to find my past life.
Amanda your just awesome
Awesome!
my life
:-)
This is not one of my favorites, but I will say the lyrics are pretty good the vocals need fine tuning and I understand that this is a demo so of course it will be worked on. This comment is in no way hate in any shape or for just an opinion of mine and Amanda understands not everyone will like this song.
sorry but this singer is pitchy all over the place, its hard to enjoy it to ears that are in the know.. its not professional music
It's pitchy because she is not a robot. It's pitchy because it's raw and passion. Which is personally my favorite type of music. Close your eyes and feel it. It's lovely when you get past what the radio is telling you is right.
If you enjoy her performance, that's all that ultimately counts, (Fyi, i never listen to the radio ever.) But I've been a studio producer and musician for 20 years and so my ear has been fine tuned to understand that it is not the reasons you mention whatsoever. If it were, that would be to say that any "good" singer who sings on pitch is automatically "commercial" or "radio friendly" etc. etc. No. A good singer is not synonymous with computerized commercial,or "shallow" music.. a good singer simply sings in tune. That isn't to say that a pitchy singer can't move or communicate, or be enjoyed nonetheless, it is just to say that a good singer can sing in tune without being pitchy.
I can certainly appreciate rustic raw music (which is why i like Jason Webley) but that doesn't mean that all raw music must have pitchy singers. As well, if i watched a radiohead concert (which is of course live), id hear Thom York singing pitchy all over the place, but it suits his live attitude, his style, its almost a "rebellious" feel.. in a nutshell, it is pitchy in context. It works. But Amanda's voice is not pitchy in context, she's really trying to sing, and its precisely because she's trying to sing that i notice her pitchiness and you can feel her passion which is all great.. but it would simply be even greater and more enjoyed if she was able to be as passionate and simply sing in tune without being pitchy all over the place. She sounds like an amateur.. palatable yes, but i must have expected more.
Wow. I really appreciate that comment, and now that you point it out...I definitely agree with it. Although I do still enjoy her music, haha. But thank you for that.
Mark Jabbs if lyour ear is so good, why can't you hear how pretentious you sound?
i made this post 4 months ago.. and just now you read it. So according to you, anyone who has a negitive (albeit true and reasonable) opinion is therefore "pretentious". So i should either only say good things and lie if i want to say anything at all, or not say anything at all and science dissent.
No, this isn't me being pretentious, its me being truthful. Funny how people like me are also called "pretentious" by people like you when we break down an artist in detail, although in a positive way!
Maybe i just know what I'm talking about and I'm not blinded by celebrity worship.
