We've thought a lot about moving to Seattle b/c it's about as good as the US gets for cyclists, urbanites, etc. But we've looked strictly at Fremont, Ballard, Phinney Ridge, and Green Lake. This video is probably a pretty good representation of why we feel the way we do, while many others probably feel just the opposite way about Seattle.

Seattle is actually not that great for biking if you intend to bike to get around. It’s really only good for cyclists who bike for sport and stick to a very strict route that doesn’t really interact with commercial space.

I ride those streets in the South. And sometimes the ones in the North.

Yup. And don’t even think about biking on Rainier Ave S!

I've done it once for one block. Never again. 😂

Oh wow that's such a huge difference! Is there a particular reason why in the north you get (at least some) great bike infrastructure but the south is (seemingly) lacking?

It's related to who lives there and how much political power they have. The north of Seattle is mostly wealthy and white. The south is majority black and latino. Not a great situation

@@samwiserowe1834 oh yikes... soulda known that some form of disparity in th US is somehow linked to racism. Wish it wasn't like that.

At least the street is nice and narrow mostly where there's no protected infrastructure in the south!
