Stan Survived a rare cancer called CDH1 that was responsible for taking 25 members in his family..they both beat cancer. Stan is originally from New Zealand but moved to Australia at a young age due to a new change of life. Stan Sang in church and changed his life, and auditioned for Australian idol, where he won (2009), couple years later Stan returned back home to New Zealand. The tattoo his mum got is called the "Moko" it's a Maori tattoo. The Maori people are the Native Indigenous people of New Zealand. The moko has many meanings, I'm sure someone with more knowledge will be happy to inform you in the comments. 🙂
A moko kauae is reserved for the wāhine (women) of Māori descent. Its a long journey to even receive one and is done on your Marae (meeting house) where your journey first starts, your roots if you will. We have traditional tattoo called tāmoko that represents your family,where you are from and where your journey is going.

He's Māori. Native to NZ Aotearoa. So he will forever be from here. He and his family moved to Australia. He moved back to Aotearoa.
