first off, I want to say thank you for adding that context to the "...a transgender" comment. while I personally didn't take any maliciousness from her statement, I was *lowkey* annoyed she didn't just say my sis or something like that. but the added context helped me out a lot, personally. I look up to you as an elder, no shade, so I genuinely took that correction in love.
that being said, I think a lot of this has been kinda blown out of proportion, mostly by cis ppl who don't believe we should ever be able to speak let alone breathe frfr, b/c I think most of us *knew* she wasn't being malicious. where I think it's ok for some to have been quick to "correct" the statement is b/c if you give cis ppl an inch, they'll take a mile when it comes to addressing us properly. I'm not talking about Monique, but the cis people who were quick to use your words to silence those with what I'd consider valid concerns.
I actually really like that she pretty much immediately responded to the criticism because that reaffirmed to me how important her feelings were for making sure that ppl aren't being unintentionally hurt by her words or actions. she wanted to make sure that semantics didn't take away from the moment, and I love that. especially when so many others would have just doubled down.
lastly, I really wish we had more space to have some of these conversations offline b/c some of the messiness of this was fueled by the inherently hostile nature of social media imo. I think some misunderstandings could've EASILY been avoided in a more personal space, but we don't have that luxury too often, especially with a conversation like this because it happened on a public platform.
I personally try not to see people as representation for me b/c we are all so very different, even when we have similar backgrounds or lived experiences. I don't think that's fair to someone to be lifted up as an idol of representation b/c I'm not you and you ain't me, although I do aspire to reach even some of what you've been able to accomplish thus far in your life and career. when I started doing that, I began to be able to truly appreciate who each person is and how they move in their life. real talk, no shade, there have been things you (and other trans women) have said or done that I KNOW I wouldn't have addressed the same way, HOWEVER, I'm so glad that you have the space to just be yourself and thrive while doing it.
ultimately, that's what I want for *all* of us. to be able to be our authentic selves, whatever that looks like, and prosper and flourish in our lives, through all of our endeavors. and you truly are the blueprint for living that life to the fullest in my eyes!

I am transgender I am not a fan of Monique’s. Let’s make that clear. It has nothing to do with her saying transgender, because I really don’t give a damn, but I will say it was not offensive for Monique to say transgender, that does not bother me. What bothers me when people know that I am transgender and miss gender me on purpose. Yes Madison, I am proud of your accomplishments. I am proud of your goals, but God has those for all of us. Also, I’m doing well and I do not have to be in the media. Some of us choose not to go that direction but we are. We are still successful. We have transgender surgeons we have transgender doctors we have transgender everything people just don’t know. At 64 I really don’t even waste my time explaining to people anymore it’s not important. What’s important is that you were here and you are alive.

I feel like what that trans woman was getting at with "scraps" is the fact that prominent figures in the community will be so overly grateful for being just acknowledged by one of "them" that you expect the community to withhold their critiques about how ppl address the community and what language they use. All Mo did was acknowledge your loyalty and integrity. Acknowledgment, something that is so bare minimum that some would consider scraps. It's not going overboard by telling ppl the correct way to address you, especially considering the constant disrespect trans women have to face.
