I agree that we need to normalize platonic, genuine friendships between people of diverse orientations and gender identities. The problem with THIS particular person Shannon is now friends with is the person's character, not their sexuality. He outed Kerry Rhodes and ruined the man's career. That's not a person whom anyone, gay or straight, needs to befriend. Shannon doesn't need to befriend what's his face for the same reason you shouldn't have befriended Sidney Starr or Tasha K. If they'll double cross others, they'll do the same to you. Orientation or gender identity has nothing to do with the problem in this particular scenario.

Here is my Oprah and Tyler Perry story.
I am a self taught playwright, A close friend who works with Tyler Perry studio asked me a few years ago to submit my play because he was looking for new talent well a few months later I received a letter saying Mr. Perry doesn't accept anything from other writers.
Same thing with Oprah I was told to enter my play and three weeks later was sent a rejection letter.
I looked up to both of these individuals and after that I stopped writing for years and even questioned myself and my ability.
That's too bad. I hope you are writing again 🙏🏾❤
Yeah maybe those people who told you to submit something was just hopeful, or maybe just pulling your chain. Don’t let that stop you, keep writing if that’s what you do… also, nothing wrong with paving your own way. If Tyler can do it, you can too
I found Tyler's website back in 2007 or 2008. I wrote my first screenplay back then. That's when I discovered he doesn't accept outside work. From then, I heard he doesn't like to pay a fair wage. There is a reason he's become a billionaire while there are other producers that have been in the industry a lot longer and I don't hear about a lot of them being billionaires. Tyler is selfish and self absorbed. I'm still writing and I guess my door will open with white ppl.
