    I've always been an android person but seeing how many people that use or have used their iPhones for streaming and recording content definitely says something about the quality of the camera on the iPhone. Great job on the video bash.

      I must admit that iPhones are very convenient for content creation! It’s been a game changer for me since I upgraded my phone this year. You could even get away with not having a “real camera” and just using your phone to film and shoot things. It’s wild

    Great video I especially like the camera tip! It's crazy how far the phone cameras have come. My old G7X that I used to use for vlogging died years ago when I made videos regularly ( I don't much anymore ). I never replaced it though because the iPhone camera was just as good in most cases but a whole lot more convenient because it's always on me. I do use my mirrorless though now for work calls with a camlink. The picture quality just blows away any built in camera.

      so true! I filmed this on my G7x Mark ii (mostly just out of convenience lol) but the quality of my new Canon camera is unmatched. My phone camera produces photos and videos that are 100% comparable to what I'd get out of my G7x

    I tried streaming on a Macbook Pro, the fans go crazy as soon as you use OBS, and even moreso when you connect a 2nd monitor. Maybe its fine for desktop, but compared to a similarly sized Windows laptop, there's no contest.

    I use a script I modified to use my phone as a webcam when I really need it, it adds a dummy video device and starts ffmpeg to stream from my phone (it needs an IP camera app). If I knew there was an easier way... Though I guess this way was more interesting.

    Hey bashbunni. Love your stuff, actually just found you out from TJ's channel. I'm a linux dev too and I wanted to ask you, how was the actual beginning of your streaming "journey"? Did you just show up on twitch? Did you pass your social medias around? Like how is the very beginning of that stuff?
    Thanks in advance, hope you're doing well

    • @bashbunni
      @bashbunni  2 года назад +1

      I did just show up on Twitch! I was an active viewer on twitch (very active chatter/member in a fair amount of communities) for about 1.5 years before I started streaming. It helped me be more familiarized with the Twitch culture and I had people who I had spoken to quite regularly joining in on my streams which was really cool. I created my other socials shortly after if I recall correctly and they took a long time to grow. I started networking with other streamers on Twitch and via Twitter and making friends which also helped. Prime raided me my first week of streaming which was huge and really made my viewership jump. I was only able to do it without an existing online presence because I was streaming in such a small category tbh

      @@bashbunni that's awesome. Thanks a lot for the time to reply. I sent the same message on insta, so don't freak out if you happened to read it haha. I then realized that you don't do dms and messaged you here. I'll take that advice and am really thinking on jumping on that train as soon as my Phd starts. Who knows, maybe we cross paths again. Linux devs that use tmux + neovim, go and love nerdy stuff isn't that huge of a market. Wish you the best, for real :)

    good stuff, this made me consider uploading a youtube video or 2 about a programming tool trick I have.
    just curious, are you wearing makeup in this video? I see clips in this vid of other vids where it looks like you are. do you feel that women in society (and online) feel the pressure to wear makeup? I find makeup to be superficial since it's adding dye and coloring on top of your face, it's like a fake mask you wear to change how look in front of others. with men I never notice them wearing makeup but women regularly do. do you find the concept of makeup superficial?

    • @bashbunni
      @bashbunni  2 года назад

      I don't think makeup is superficial. I'm not wearing makeup in this video, honestly it just depends on how I'm feeling that day. Sometimes I enjoy the process of listening to music and doing my makeup and other times (most days) I prefer to wear little-to-no makeup because I find it more comfortable. I think it's fine for men or women to wear makeup, I remember when I was struggling with acne it was nice to be able to cover it up and not have people comment on it

    • @hubertjoneshappy
      @hubertjoneshappy 2 года назад

      @@bashbunni Many people commented that you have acne? I find that odd because it seems like a issue everyone has experienced. Maybe if you had a lot of acne then I guess some people might give tips on how to treat it.
      3 more questions:
      1. Say there's no acne. Face is healthy and clean. Don't you think makeup is like a fake mask then, that adds artificial dye to change how you naturally look?
      2. Given that your face is clean of acne, makeup changes how you look. Do you agree that people change something only if they are not satisfied with it, and therefore makeup is used because people are not happy with their natural face?
      3. Do you find it odd how commonly women in our society wear makeup while men generally don't?

  • @blackpolygon9306

    Tbh, I dislike the idea of telling people that they need a camera to stream. For most (not all ofc!) streams the focus is on what's happening on the screen and a facecam display is not really needed. If you want to show yourself while you stream, that's perfectly fine and many, maybe even most, people prefer watching streams where they can see the streamer.
    But plenty of people don't want to be on camera and also plenty of people have little to no interest in seeing a facecam, but what's happening on screen.

    • @bashbunni
      @bashbunni  2 года назад +1

      For sure! I was more-so saying that if you want to grow as a streamer, it will be VERY hard to do so without a cam. There are examples of successful streamers who stream without a cam (Corpse, Ottomated) but generally speaking it will help with growth and engagement. Even a keyboard cam makes it more interesting to watch
