- This, ladies and gentlemen, is footage of the very first Chuck E. Cheese Road Stage in history filmed in March 1991. It was installed in 1990 as a test stage while other opening locations still received the Rocker Stage. Before we get started I would like to say that I do NOT own this video it was filmed by Angel Vixen and I tried while editing to get more footage of the animatronics and less of their family being as this is a public account with a lot of subscribers and I don't know how comfortable they are with having a lot of people view it. I also made the video widescreen so I hope you guys enjoyed the wider view 😊. The songs playing in the video are Whoops, Wow, Who, Me? , Chuck E's Place, A World Of Ways To Say Hi, and the beginning of Treat 'Em Like You Wanna Be Treated which in case you didn't notice features the same instrumental as Havin' A Party. All of these songs are from the January 1991 Show which was the last show with all the PTT va's. Also featured was Birthday Extravaganza 1988 (cool how exactly 20 years later they made another Birthday Extravaganza except it's an entirely different song of course lol). Included in the video are views of the amazing early 90's showroom and some views of the ball crawl, showroom walls, and some of the games and stuff in the restaurant. Springfield, PA opened in November 1990 with a brand new test stage that we obviously know was the road stage. Their stage was awesome from the cosmetics and the unique stage setup, it looked really cool! Not to mention Springfield has a really unique layout and the store from the outside looked like a house minus the CEC sign and awning. They unfortunately replaced this cool test stage with the newer 2-Stage a few years after this footage was taken but it was still a great stage with great animatronics in great shape. The store remodeled in the mid 90's (not sure but likely when they got the 2-Stage or around the same time) and remained in the same physical shape for the next two decades. The store announced they would remodel in 2012 but then we found out it was much more than a remodel. They were demolishing the entire store and building a new CEC in the same spot a few yards back by the end of the year. This was incredibly sad news because it was such a unique and cool Phase 3 store with a great stage and this was back before we even knew they housed the first road stage so that would've made it even worse when we found out it was closing. The old store closed on April 16, 2012 and the new store opened on November 14th of the same year with a COL stage (with bot bc this was right before they started removing bots from COL's). Even though this store is literally gone now, at least we have memories and many videos on RUclips of the store throughout the years, like this one. Update June 2022: It was confirmed this store opened in December 1990 which means they are NOT the first Road Stage since Jonesboro, GA opened before them.
so if this is not the first roadstage then why does it have like a test stage thing

Oh! So that's why it's called the “Road Stage”. It had a road decoration and the plastic box stands the band are on were supposed to be buildings by the roadside. I honestly never realized that till now. >.

Well if the stands that the characters are on are supposed to be buildings the how come the buildings or stands are small and the characters are big

fact that both Springfields old and new had prototype stages: Road Stage (old store) and the Circles of Light (new store).
its kind of a shame that there are very few road stages left back in 2018 i went to two different road stages in two different states and both of them were in disrepair
I really like the look of this, the road reminds me of innoventions at Epcot a little, my only complaint is that the animatronics seem to be on the floor, there is no raised stage, making it easier for kids to get at em, other than that, I like it a lot.

It was cause they dimmed the lights in the showrooms, they don’t do that anymore to cut costs

looks like whoever filmed this did so while it was still being installed, (notice the valance above the stage hadn't been installed yet. I noticed on a video filmed a few years later they changed the stage to a 2-stage.

Levittown opened with a Rocker and I don’t think they ever had a Road Stage tbh. (They have a newer wink as well)

Some fans just say things bc other ppl said it one time and so they assume it must be true. It doesn't make sense to me they opened with a rocker, got the road stage the next year, and then the 1-Stage 2-3 years later.
Also Glen Burnie opened as a Showbiz Pizza in August 1990

Yeah ikr! During the early 90's a lot of stores had the old PTT cosmetics and hand setups for Munch and Pasqually. My local store that closed in Union, NJ had that hand setup and PTT cosmetics until 1993 or 94!

Cool! Both those stores have closed now unfortunately (Springfield demolished this store and rebuilt it in 2012) but they were both really cool classic looking CEC stores when they were opened

Mississauga has the first final version of the road stage (that still has it to this day) and Springfield PA had the first prototype Road stage (then it was a 2 stage, now is a circle of light with animatronic)

If you do ever go the road stage is great the animatronics at my local Chuck E. Cheese la marada are in perfect shape.

It didn’t. The road stage didn’t survive, the 2 stage didn’t survive, and they relocated in 2012.
They didn’t relocate they demolished the whole building and rebuilt it in the same spot and opened
