Mormons worship a god that is an 'exalted man' with a body of flesh and bone, that came from another planet, had to work his way to godhood, lives near a star named Kolob, had sex with his own spirit daughter 'Mary' to conceive 'Jesus' and practices polygamy.

God probably has more than one body, he is not a body of flesh and bone, but has a body of flesh and bone, many latter day saints believe his body is physical, but at the points and progression of exhalation, it's in the form of human body, but made of completely different infinite energies of power that are physical and spiritual. We are spirits having a human experience, God has a body perhaps a few we don't know, but he is also connected to every single atom and particle and inkling of every universe and living thing in their purest holy forms. He is way beyond our comprehension and it will take eons and eons and eons of millions of experiences and time to become even close to the the Father or mother in heaven, in the spirit world we saw their glorified infinitely connected universal bodies and we marevled and wanted to be like them, but first we had to go through hard experiences like they did in a body after somewhat the likeness of God's body somewhat. This is a human body. But God is way beyond a body but has a body, like we are spirits but can have this form of a body right now. God is both everything, all of the collective consciousness of the universe, the great I am, and has an infinite body of power also and his own unique identity. All of the God's consider themselves to be called "GOD" they are very united and consider each other though different the same consciousness as different indivuals and unique people's that are united creating that being or way of living which is called God. Lots of latter day saints believe Kolob is a metaphor, also many believe Kolob is a place of far superior knowledge and strength to the point our minds can't comprehend, like in a sense how we can't grasp infinite very well, God and the place he likes to dwell often in his physical body loves to live in the heavens a place that could be called a planet or a star planet, or pure Power connected to the infinite source and power of the universe. He was always God in a sense that babtism washed him from his sins or mistakes he had to go through to become God, and therefore didn't sin, while still going through experiences, he's seen as perfect cause he too had a savior perhaps. God was always God but had to realize it in a sense, once God did and become who he knows as himself the infinite source of creation like we can all realize however eon longs that can take with the savior's help, knows no time or space, and thus can easily say he is perfect from the eternities forward to the eternities backwards. Sinse he exists in this place of eternity and also of this temperal and horizontal time frame of space and existence. When Jesus gives someone power or a preisthood blessing is given to someone from their head, it is a kind of connection, but it is not sex. We don't go around telling people preisthood blessings are sex cause they are not, their hands being placed on the head of the individual endowing or gifting or giving blessings. Mary was blessed in this manner the gift to have a child, and not just any child, God allowed it to be Christ if she wanted. If you were to live multiple lives throughout all of the eons while growing into a God living millions of lives if you wanted, you'd probably end up marrying alot of people, and the God before would never want to Seperate you from the ones you love. Thus I that sense God could be seen as a polygamist. The same way if we were to live multiple lives and marry different people in each one, we could reunite with all of them in heaven if we wanted.
@@cripmo425 I went in December of 89, and in January of 90; They were two different ceremonies. The full impact of that didn't hit me until years later. @@beesonmf I think o have ptsd from that- I had forgotten but when you brought up the people touching us through the shield, I remember. What a nightmare.
The ceremony has not really changed. It is a much abbreviated version from 1844. Same with the washings and anointing ceremony. We know this from historical records found in members' journals and books of remembrance. The moves may be due in part to the length of original ceremonies. Members recorded endowments taking well over four hours. There were also bathtubs in early temples for full body washings. I think the secrecy and not talking about what goes on in the temple is part of the problem. I had no temple prep class. I had no idea of what to expect for the endowment presentation. I did not even know about the washings and anointing. And I went before the 2005 and 2009 changes, so it was an interesting experience to say the least. A missionary told me to bring cash for the garments, and that was all the prep I had. Overall not a bad experience. I learned more when I went to the temple with a temple worker each week. I would do 3-4 sessions over a long day.
@@beesonmf Correct. I didn't mean to say that Lucifer's apron was green. But the green apron the participants put on, they put it on at the command of Lucifer, a badge of self-atonement. And there it stays forevermore, for the rest of the ceremony, thru the veil, and into the "Celestial Room." Amazing, the gullibility.
@@KendraAndTheLaw No five points of fellowship, no Protestant preacher, no disemboweling, throat cutting, or long sermon at the veil. Plus the two recent changes in 2019.
@michaelparks5669 , You're so full of it. You have no Idea of what you are talking about. The phillistines were worshiping Baal, and they passed their children through the fire. The Hebrews offered an animal sacrifice to the most high according to the law, which was not done away with, but fulfilled in Jesus. Gentiles cannot offer sacrifices, or they are sacrificing to a demond. Our only path is through the Messiah, Jesus Christ. The law shows us that we cannot be perfect like God.
Smith's problem was HE didn't know the sexual meanings, to explain the silhouettes of the penalties, OR their Due-Guards. He never figured Masonry out, because he wasn't very smart at all, never separated from his Ego, AND had less than noble intentions. The spiritual controllers of Freemasonry decide who gets what knowledge, based on their personal intelligence, and good nature. All go through the same Physical rituals, but only the Ilu recieve the full spiritual information and energies. So many have judged Masonry too complex to unravel. It's not. Vegetarians almost always make it past the others. If ANY initiated3 person doesn't inform you about not hurting animals, they're not even close to the last Arch and final altar. 2 things come with liGht, the liGht itself, and the shadows created by the liGht... ... .
Giving argumentation from the perceived intentions and perspective of another long dead person is disingenuous. One, because you couldn't possible glean that knowledge from a reliable source and two, because that judgement may be entirely founded on personal bias.
I find it odd that so much of Mormonism would be open to interpretation or eligible for revision, if these were really divine offerings from God to Joseph Smith. I find it odd with all Christian religions, but especially odd of one that was created so recently, and by men of such character as Smith and his cohorts. Actually, I should be honest... I don't just find it odd, I find it pretty much unbelievable that people can maintain a true belief in Mormanism, despite being exposed to its major criticisms. But then again, it was created that way; your family, your friends, your whole life is built around the faith. Very few people can just walk away from that.
Depends on ones own perspective. I have no problem with a religion born on the American continent. Masonic influence obvious. First five Profits were masons. To much true history and context lost on desenters. Every religion out there was started by mankind.period your rub is it's new compared to older creations of man in persuit to worship his God. Let us all worship God. To me its the three men I admire most. The Father, the son, and the holy ghost.
I don't know about Temple ceremonies, but the Deseret News carried a story about the early Mormon practice of "blood atonement." Brigham Young taught that certain sins required the sinner to submit to having his throat cut, and the spilling of blood on the ground "and the smoke thereof" would appease God and admit the dead sinner into eternal bliss. This was done at least once. And there was an elderly bishop who invited a young woman to become one of his wives. She and her young fiance stubbornly refused until some of the other faithful brethren overpowered the young man and gelded him. She then submitted to joining the harem. The young man lost his mind. Some protested against the bishop's behavior. When Young was called in, he "sustained" the bishop.
“If it was revelation at all to begin with, why would it change” ??? Excellent question. But In so asking it with the implication they want it to carry showcases a serious lack of understanding of how the Lord works and how revelation works.
@tapir rider Again. Yes lol A serious lack of understanding. Everyone wants the Lord to be this crystal ball of absolute clarity. As if all of what we want to happen and for it all to mean is supposed to fit within our world view. It’s not a hard copy of FreeMasonry. Are there similarities, absolutely! But there are stark differences too. Free Mason get their start from a guild who were thought to be the Stone Masons who built Solomon’s temple. As a temple people Joseph and other prominent Latter Day Saints ( and many Founding Fathers) were masons. I’m more than happy to share more if you’d like. Rest assured if you really want to know and are genuinely curious, it’s a cool journey. But if your only goal is to argue with ignorance as your guide then yes… go ahead and keep believing that Masonry and Mormonism are a copy of eachother. If you ever chose to do what was necessary to develop a relationship with Christ that would allow you to enter one of His Temples you would quickly see that Masonry and Temple Worship carry similarities but are starkly different.

Washing and anointing today are abbreviated from the Nauvoo temple. The temple endowment was live at Nauvoo and took over 4 hours to complete. Today it's 1 h 35 m.
And you allowed not to be naked and have people wash you and put oil on your naked body. Not that many decades ago, I have friends who went through the temple ceremony and it was the official ceremony to reach into the open sided "robes" and wash and annoint their bare body.
@@SaffronHammer And there is nothing wrong with that. The washing was not the 1846 version but it was unusual when I had it done. But there was nothing wrong with the anointing. Men anointed men and women anointed women.
@@scottbrandon6244 you say nothing is wrong with it. Others do feel violated and just about no one knows what will happen during the temple ceremonies are entirely unprepared. But that is cool if you want some dude to put oil on your naked body. That doesn't mean there is nothing wrong with it for many others.
@@SaffronHammer I don't know if you ever went through the temple. I think members have different reactions to their first endowment and initiatory. I had no preparation other than the missionaries telling me to bring money for clothing. I had no temple prep class either. So I went in expecting nothing. I had no negative experience. The oil and water were only small drops placed on a few parts of the body. Nothing perverted. They were blessings given by the Lord and the words were wonderful. Today the person is clothed and most of the initiatory is symbolic. As for the endowment, it was odd to say the least. I once again had no expectations since I went into it cold turkey. I knew nothing about the ritual or clothing involved. But it too was a wonderful experience.
Has anyone here done a deep dive into studying ancient temple ritual? Things would not seem quite so problematic if you understood the temple in the context of ancient ritual (which members of the Church believe the temple ceremony is). There is a lot more to study and learn, than just from our own reactions to things that may be different that how we are used to learning in our modern world. The LDS temple experience wouldn’t seem so “weird” or culty if you have a knowledge, background and understanding of that. It’s pretty cool actually. Tradition is steeped in the beauty of ritual worship. Even the modern day Catholic Church has very unique ceremonial rites and rituals, that would seem out of place in our modern world and way of looking at things. Just because it’s unfamiliar and different doesn’t make it cultish. You can even see parallels in our modern world that almost everyone here in the US participates in that no one sees as “weird or different”. During high school and college graduations people wear robes and unusual hats. There is also the ritual of switching the tassel on the hat from one side to the other to show that the person has progressed or achieved a certain “degree”. But I bet you have never batted an eye at that or called it “cultish” even though it’s a group of people following kind of an unusual ritual, that no one outside of our education culture would understand. Have you ever wondered about where graduation rites came from? That’s an interesting thing to study and research too. Hmm. We’re going to be able to watch the coronation of King Charles here in a couple of months. It will be filled with ritual involving clothing and crowns and exchanges and other things that might seem “weird” and unfamiliar to some of the world, but have you ever wondered about the roots of the coronation ceremony? Where and how and why did it come to be? Studying the history of these things is very interesting when you put it in the context of the LDS temple ceremony being from ancient origin … from before the beginning of time actually. When studying the Old Testament last year, and having the opportunity to visit a replica of the tabernacle used in the times of Moses opened my eyes so much. The similarities between the temple then and now are remarkable. Seeing the parallels was more than faith strengthening. Things may not be exactly how you see them. There are more things to study that anti-LDS rhetoric, that broaden and enrich our scope of understanding.
The Hebrew temple was about animal sacrifice and the everyday devout Jew did not enter. The modern LDS temple rituals are a variation of Masonic rituals developed in the 15 hundreds.
@ blittlefield3864 but it’s not ancient. The Jewish temple had completely different practices. The Jewish temple was about the ritualistic slaughtering of animals and burning of a few different plants. The Mormon Temple ceremony was invented in the 1830s and has changed over and over for the past 190 years. There’s nothing scared about it, there is plenty aspects of it that are plagarized from masonry and plenty aspects that are just abusive. You claim that it wouldn’t appear, so Kilty if people had more knowledge about it, that is one of the cult things about it is that it is very secretive and people aren’t able to know exactly what happens in there until they go in. They do not have prior informed consent before performing the ceremony, and then o are terrified when they actually get to the ceremony. The Catholic Church does have some interesting ceremonies, but to their credit, none of them are actually secret. The one comparison that there is between the Catholic Church and the Mormon church is that both extort 10% of the income of their members even when those members can’t afford to feed their own families and both are notorious for abuse of children.

@@beesonmf it was not a test of his loyalty and obedience? The symbolic nature of the temple rite described is to emphasize spiritual, not physical death -- which is considered far worse than physical death by any means. Even without the symbolic gestures indicating kinds of death, such as is now the temple ceremony portrayal, the violation of sacred promises is still just as serious. The repercussions of deliberate covenant violation, after making covenants with full knowledge of what one is doing, is a very serious matter with eternal consequences. We are careful about casually discussing temple rites with anyone, temple worthy or not, outside the temple. This is so even though anyone can get on the internet and see the whole endowment in video. It's a matter of integrity.
Yeah, no. I went through the temple in the 80's and it was very clear that I was told to make a motion to physically slit my throat and physically disembowel myself while the words "I will suffer my life to be taken" were intoned. Thankfully I left and found the true gospel and Christ.
I went thru for the first time in 1987. It DID say and show you cutting your throat and disemboweling yourself. I did it and went thru those sessions. So, It sounds like the Devil will make people say it didn't happen. Interesting, huh? Devil has nothing to do with it, it's was all created and made up by Uncle Joey who created a secret society to protect his kingdom of secrecy. It's like secret combinations. Sorry, it really did happen that way in the temple.
That’s because they changed it. The temple ceremony has changed many times. The throat cutting was taken out because of how much it scared people, so they caved to the peer pressure and took it out. The ceremony isn’t sacred, it’s just a copy of masonry, especially the tokens/keys to enter heaven.
Except they don't tell you what you are going to do before you get to the temple... The first time usually family and ward members come from states away just to go through with you... And the only out they give you is the first 2 minutes before anything even starts.
Cloudpiler is a good story teller, but the stories are resinant of the rest of the bs stories that Ive heard in the Mormon Faith. If you want to know about the temple, then go to the Bible, and learn to divide the Bible rightly (meaning, Who is the Bible addressing at the time, and what is the purpose of the lesson). I was talking to a Native American acquaintance who explained the belief about theft. He stated that it is acceptable to steal, but it is shameful to be caught. This belief system was reinforced by other Native Americans that I spoke to. When you look at the Snake worship, and other belief systems, there is only one conclusion about the Natives and Christ. There is no Christ Jesus in ancient Native Beliefs. If you are searching for our Lord our God Yeshua, Jesus Christ, you will not find him in the Brother Jesus Doctrine of the Mormon Belief System.

And if I did not do them I would not be allowed to get married in the Temple, which I was scheduled for right in the next hour after this. How would you like to have to cancel your wedding and disappoint all your family members suddenly? It was not a good experience. And they took those cutting rites out sometime around 1990 or 1991. Apparently they took them out because too many people felt the ceremony was wrong and blatantly showed them it wasn't of God. My grandmother told me it was even worse when she went to the Temple for the first time. Much more violent words were said then. And she also had to promise to pray for the destruction of the U.S. Government. Please stop telling people falsehoods, because what the woman is saying is TRUE. I know. I experienced it.

Did it change because it was of man, and not of God?

Yep... I got to do the pre 1990 endowment.

It’s not a hard copy of FreeMasonry. Are there similarities, absolutely! But there are stark differences too.

Rest assured if you really want to know and are genuinely curious, it’s a cool journey.
But if your only goal is to argue with ignorance as your guide then yes… go ahead and keep believing that Masonry and Mormonism are a copy of eachother.
Why confusing? Both ceremonies are about Jesus Christ and his role in the salvation of mankind. Not confusing at all.
The Hebrew temple was about animal sacrifice and the everyday devout Jew did not enter.
The modern LDS temple rituals are a variation of Masonic rituals developed in the 15 hundreds.
It is all from the Freemasons, Joseph Smith was a Freemason.

@susanpixley4100 Of course, they’re not going to say they heard about it, because they swore to secrecy about it. The throat sliding was literally the penalty for divulging what happens in the temple. And furthermore, they also don’t want to make the temple and the Mormon church look bad, that’s why it was taken out of the ceremony, because it scared people away. Just like putting oil on peoples groins under a bear poncho was taken out because that also scared people.
Did you know that allowing people to wear that "shield" (what you call a bear poncho) was actually an improvement? My dad told me that when he went for his endowment in the Salt Lake City Temple he was required to stand there completely naked in front of a strange man and let the man touch him all over. @@timmiestabrnak
Well Susan, all I can say is either you're having memory problems or you (and the people you are friends of) know that you are under oath not to reveal it. However, since I have since learned this is not of God, I will reveal it.
I am a witness that the cutting of throats motions and disemboweling yourself motions were required. I had to do them. My own mother was right next to me.
Government.

Her words are just evil lies!!!
@Lizmarie1965.
If you went to the temple pre-1990, then you already know that she is not lying.
However, if you did not go to the temple pre 1990, having been born in 1965, then you are not following your faith, so what does it matter to you? Are you paying your tithing? You can't go to heaven without paying 10% of your Gross income. That's why they have tithing settlements. Get paying and get to the temple, so you have a right to defend your faith, and get to heaven.

If you choose to follow Christ seriously, you are willing to leave spouse, father, mother, or son for Him. You are willing to be skinned, beheaded, and even crucified for Him, as the primitive Christians did. So, if it is too much for you to make a covenant with Him where you promise that you prefer to die (symbolically have your throat cut) rather than give up His sacred name for money or for the things of this world, just like Judas did; then, to carry the name of Christ is too big for you.

Mormonism mocks the High Priesthood of the real Lord Jesus, and the sufficiency of His sacrifice.
@@KendraAndTheLaw you're correct...I finally realized it a few years ago...still in for now
@@user-bw3fl7fj9w When you are "in Christ" you inherit _everything._ Mormonism adds Aaronic priesthood, Melkezidek priesthood, washing and annoint in the temple, temple endowment "keys". See Galatians 3. "Put on" or "clothed" is from the Greek enduo (where we get "endow") which means to wrap around like a robe. When you're "in Christ" it's AS IF you are Christ himself as from as the inheritance goes. You've got it all! Nothing left to "get".' See how Mormonism's priesthood mocks the finished work of Jesus? It implies being simply "robed" with him is _insufficient_ to get the full inheritance.
@@beesonmf your not the one doing the according in the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints, that is Jesus Christs role to help us with, we cannot raise ourselves, that is why salvation is need and Jesus Christs Grace, we cannot earn our way into heaven no matter how hard we try, only Jesus Christ can do this for us. That is salvation. Isaiah is talking about salvation, one cannot lift themselves above God, especially without God's help, we can become equals if God wills it through Jesus Christs atonement. Exhalation is learning heaven not earning heaven, Jesus Christ enables salvation which is a free gift from God, exaltation isn't being denied by Isaiah in that qoute, salvation without God's help is being spoken of by Isaiah. Exhalation is taking upon ourselves the responsibility to do good with the Heaven we enter bought by the blood and body of Christ.
We can in no way raise ourselves above or equal to God without accepting Jesus Christs help, he is the master of matter, and knows all things, Anyone who says others whyse is going against Isaiah in that qoute. Heaven is not earned by us, Christ bought heaven for us, the different areas in heaven which gives one more power over elements in heaven require one to hold responsibility to go in certain areas of heaven, for without this law of responsibility, powers of heaven would be used irresponsibly and harm the intelligences of others more than benefit the intelligences of all creatures.

Wait a Minute. Have you gone to Gospel Doctrine Class? If so, then you know that the version of the First Vision is not even close to the first time that Joseph told it. In fact it didn't start to stabilize until about the 5th version that we have record of. Not to mention the final "what is it the 8th version"?
If you have sat in on that class, then you know that people have issues with conflicting information that comes from Mormon sources. If you can have that info in your head, and still tell the modern, sanitized version of the story, then you cannot tell me that you are not lying to someone. Maybe the person that you are lying to is your self.
@@beesonmf your telling me that you have always told the same event in your life exactly the same way to every person . I'm talking about a deeply personal story. You know you haven't. It depends on time, one how comfortable you feel, how receptive the person might be and other reasons such as the first time you told it to a person you respected and trusted they turned on you. Now all the different versions are not first hand accounts are they but some are second and third hand. But you dont look for the same faults in Moses or Jona, or how about Peter and his mistakes. You dont seem to be bent out of shape that the apostles can't get times and exact details straight with Christ's crusafixion. But your hung up on the fact that Joseph dosnt word for word tell the first vision story the same every time. If you want to find faults with people you sure can find them but if you want to see how God can work with flawed people you'll find that too. At the age of 61 I've read the nonsense and understand tactics of the anti's but I've found out for myself that it's true from God himself.
Well maybe so, but this sister is not lying about the pre 1990 temple endowment. That was part of the ritual. I went through in 1986 when the slitting your throat, plucking out your heart and disembowelment were all part of it.
