Harvey Earl Pennington was my grandfather. (1917-1967). He was wounded in WWII. His family traces back to this Pennington family. He was tall, and had a very good, loving heart. He worked at the local school where he was a great favorite of the children. When he took to his sickbed before he passed away I remember his bedroom walls were absolutely covered with children’s drawings wishing him well.
I am a Pennington, and we have traced out ancestors back here. I would love to visit someday! Hello from Texas!!

Hello cousin. I am Catherine Mary Pennington. I am a direct descendant and I have relatives in Texas. I had my DNA done. It is interesting to learn about history that we most certainly didn't learn in school. The castle is built on Roman ruins.
Absalom Pennington is my great great grandfather. He was around 6 foot tall & slim. He married a Cherokee woman and ended up having a son named William Hickman Pennington who he rejected & put up for adoption. Nothing good was ever said about Absalom within my family especially after he gave his son away.
William Hickman Pennington is my great grandfather. He had black hair, dark skin and was 5’11 inches tall. He looked very Native American just like his mother (Absaloms full Cherokee wife). William was adopted by my great grandmother when she married A.J. Lockett.
William Hickman Pennington was my grandmas dad on my moms side. My grandma (Nancy Mchugh) has enough Native American in her to the point where she could live on a reservation if she wanted to. Also, she’s owned 2 real wolves throughout her lifetime which I always thought was cool. She ended up having 2 daughters from different marriages. Amie Michelle Jacobs (my mom) & Kristen Caswell (her step sister/my aunt). Amie had 4 children (3 girls & 1 boy). I was her first born child then Mahree, Shaylee & Kelden came along. Kristen (my aunt) had 2 children (1 boy & 1 girl) named Vaden & Linsey.
So yeah.
That’s all I know about my family tree so far regarding the Pennington’s but I would love to know more and visit the castle someday! ❤️🏰
Many Peningtons married Cherokees. I believe it was Daniel Boone's sister who married Daniel Pennington (that is if my recollection of his name is correct) who had a Cherokee father. A group of Pennington family were friends and follow Daniel Boone westward from North Carolina. This happened a few years before Andrew Jackson force marched the Indians on the trail of tears to Oklahoma. My part of that family went to Alabama around 1823. Some stayed in Georgia. Some are in Louisianna and Texas. Most all of the men were tall 6' or more and very handsome. Some were very blonde with blue eyes, some were dark haired, and a few red heads. I attribute their height and good looks with the mixing with the Cherokees. Many of the Cherokee men were really tall and very handsome. The men 6'4" or more. The dark-haired ones looked like Li'l Abner.
As a Pennington I would love to go as the first member of my branch to have been to England since the mid-1600’s

This is my family’s castle. I am a Pennington.
My son in law told me about his family castle but I never really paid much attention. His father later told me all about this castle and the family ghosts. The Pennington family have some very good stories. I hope when my grandson decides to get married, he will decide to have his wedding in his family’s castle!
