    THIS WEEK’S FEATURED WATCH
Rolex President Day-Date ref. 228348 Green Dial
Find the Rolex 228348 for sale here: www.bobswatche...
ABOUT THIS WATCH: The Rolex Presidential came to market in 1956. In addition to featuring the jump date mechanism invented by Rolex, the Presidential was also the first mechanical wristwatch to display the day spelled out in full on the dial, never abbreviated.
The iconic President bracelet with semi-circular links also debuted that year alongside the Day-Date and has largely been exclusive to the collection, save for a few women’s models.
The Day-Date has always featured a yellow gold finish and a 36mm case from day one. However, it has since expanded to include other precious metal options and elaborate design elements.
    THE DAY-DATE II
Rolex experimented with larger case sizes within the Day-Date collection in 2008 via the Day-Date II. Featuring a 41mm case and the then-new caliber 3156 perpetual movement, it was unlike any other model in the Rolex catalog at the time. As always, there was plenty of room for improvement.
    THE DAY-DATE 40
Fast-forward to 2015 and the release of the Day-Date 40, the Day-Date II’s predecessor. It swapped the 41mm case for a more refined 40mm diameter and introduced the Rolex catalog to a new movement, the caliber 3255.
Ref. 228348 debuted in 2015 alongside the then-new 40mm collection in a handful of classic dial colors, including black, champagne, and silver.
However, the example we have here sports the legendary Rolex green dial.
Featuring a factory diamond bezel, a solid 18k yellow gold finish, and a vibrant green dial, this model is the epitome of luxury and class. It has a bold presence on the wrist yet is still somehow elegant and sophisticated - perfect for the modern collector.
The sharply faceted Roman numeral hour markers reflect the light beautifully as the wrist moves and are alternated with the stick indices to keep the dial cleaner and more symmetrical. The lack of luminescent material allows the dial to embrace an ultra-dressy aesthetic to match the gold and diamond design elements.
Outstanding design aside, this Day-Date is a testament to Rolex’s technological prowess. It boasts the next-generation caliber 3255 Perpetual movement with the Paramagnetic blue Parachrom hairspring, Paraflex shock absorbers, impressive 70-hour power reserve, accuracy up to -2/+2 seconds per day, and Double Quickset for the day and date.
We hope you enjoyed unboxing this absolute masterpiece with us today.

Wore my 1976 Datejust today. Beyond that, I would DAILY wear that Day-Date just because I could. I try to rotate through all of my watches, especially my Rolexes, but it would be hard to NOT stick with that one because it is such a standout piece. I have ALWAYS liked standing out from the crowd in everything I do though.

Love the vintage Datejust on your wrist today! What a statement on the Day-Date as a daily -- "Because I could." 🔥🙌

Welcome back, Emily. I thought the King Midas was your grail. Love the dial on the Day-Date, but I'm with Justin: I couldn't see wearing that with the diamond bezel. At the moment I'm wearing my Grand Seiko "Katana", but just today I ordered a GMT-II, with the Coke bezel. I told you in a prior comment why that bezel is my favorite. I am super excited to get it tomorrow. As an aside, I never saw my Day-Date ref 18078 in the new arrivals section of Bob's website. Does that mean that someone had it on their wait list and it went out the day it arrived at Bob's? I also thought that Emily might wear it as a wrist-check watch on a What's in the Box episode. Regardless, I am sure someone is enjoying it now.

Hi Jim! It's so great to hear from you! The King Midas is in fact Emily's ultimate grail-Great recollection! We love to hear the Katana is still going strong on your wrist. But we can't ignore that you're adding a GMT-Master II "Coke" to your collection TODAY! Your personal Day-Date is in service. We've been waiting for a part for it since December. Once it's serviced, it will make its way to bobswatches.com. Have a wonderful week!

@@bobswatches Received my GMT yesterday and it is awesome! At 40mm, it wears smaller because the bezel takes up a lot of the space. I've had a Jubilee and President bracelet before and this is my first Oyster bracelet. I have to say that it's just as comfortable as the others. I'm curious to know what part my Day-Date required. As far as I know it was fine.

The President is certainly stunning, but (no offense) not my style - just can't do the diamonds. That said, the gold/green is really a great combination. I am a stickler for accuracy, but the hands on the day/date and datejust have square ends; I prefer hands that come to a point that point directly at a minute marker, e.g. the sport watches. Cool Omega on Justin's wrist. Today I again wear the '59 Omega Geneve w/date and crosshair dial. Glad you're feeling better Emily. Cheers!

It's great to see the Schumacher 'Speedy', not a watch that I'm that familiar with but it's interesting that the running seconds is on the right sub dial where it is on the left for the regular 'Speedy'. Maybe I'm missing something but I am happy to be educated. The Santos looks a treat on Emily's wrist although I'm not a fan of the diamonds. ON to the Day Date, I'm not a fan of iced out bezels but I do like the green dial with the Roman Numerals and it suites the gold case as well. I think the Schumacher is the treat for today with the stainless bezel by a hair.

So glad you called out the racing dial with the running seconds sub-dial being on the right instead of its typical left-side configuration. This is reflective of Schumacher's Omega Speedmaster models. So glad you enjoyed seeing and learning about it this week!
