It would have been a better ending if when Alice lets the unicorn drink the water, she lead Alice to the garden and it's the unicorn that makes it bloom. It would show by kindness and compassion, you have the power to be a princess. Kind of like how they did it in FIM.
Yeah
Yeah, but this was before that, so yeah
I actualy found quite clever how a chess piece wants to bring order and rules when chess is a game that only works when you follow the order and rules of it strictly.
MrKlausbaudelaire that's not even let the Christian religion says in the Christian religion you don't even have to do anything all you have to do is accept Jesus. or so I've heard.
That would be extremely clever, if they had the testicular fortitude to actually call him the Bishop.
@@nickmanzo8459 [gasp] The Bishop!!
@@nickmanzo8459 Or if his name was Bishop, because that is a thing
I agree
And somehow, despite all the inconsistencies and radical differences from the source material... this movie still manages to be both more entertaining and truer to the original than Tim Burton's sad attempts.
I like the rapping Cheshire Cat, now he can rap battle with the rapping dog from Titanic the Legend Goes On!
Did u get that from Nolstalgia Critic?😀😁
Yeah
Plus the cat almost sounds like the lizard from Ferngully.
He was thicc, like a Biggie Smalls.
It party time!
As much as I love the Care Bears, I can totally see why people would find this bad. Mixing the Bears and Wonderland together is like putting Transformers in Equestria.
EDIT: 1/6/21: I'm psychic or something, I swear.
Graphite Tail Grace Yeah... I used to enjoy this movie when it was chopped up into a 3 partner for the Care Bears cartoon... but now all I can say to this movie as a grown man is... blech.
+Kenneth hill
Power Rangers in Mortal Kombat actually sounds like a good crossover movie/game so does Harry Potter in Call of Duty. Quick write a script and send it to Hollywood!
Actually, there's a story on FimFiction of the Transformers in Equestria I read a few years ago and it was actually brilliant.
DON'T GIVE MICHAEL BAY ANY IDEAS
Or putting the power rangers in the land of oz
How bad is it to when the idea of Old Man in Wonderland sounds like a better movie. That could bring forth some Good Times.
HEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!
CWDTrixie No joke, I would love to see Old Man in a Care Bears movie.
CWDTrixie
Old Man in Wonderland would be the best adaptation.
I heard they once did make a movie, but it got wet
So it was completely useless!
Bob, if you're locked in your own room, meaning that the lock to your room is on the outside, then that's some pretty shitty house-design right there.
Welcome to Britain, where Locks lock you in _and_ out!
Actually, Bobsheaux, it's true that when you starve, you lose your hunger impulse. Your stomach just stops trying.
I guess that's when you're about to die
That and he probably has some... Reserves
I think that's happened to me before and my stomach is like "You know what I give up if you want to die than die"
The Big Macs are on their way.
@@parker-boy98 Its also what makes it easier to do fasting as time goes on, I believe.
I don't like every media portaying Queen of Hearts as some furious woman. She was supposed to be easily angered, and stupid, but not rude, or evil.
What irks me more is when various adaptations think the Queen of Hearts and the Red Queen are the same person. They're not. They're two very distinct characters with very different personalities.
The Queen is more of a chaotic neutral character. And the phrase “Off with his/her/their head(s)” was canonically stated in the first book to not be a literal threat and a reminder of how nothing in Wonderland is ever what it seems. The Queen wasn’t even that mean to Alice in the Disney version until the Cheshire Cat appeared and ruined everything and she thought the Cat belonged to Alice. If anything, the “villain” of the Wonderland books and Disney movie is a conceptual idea that pure chaos is not a good way to live and that Order is necessary for life in general.
Pretty sure regardless of that, she'd be yelling "Off with his head!" With the evil sorcerer. Esspecially at the end of the movie
@@KingdomHeartsBrawler mmm it took me a while (and research) to find out Disney combined two characters both times
those marks on their butts are actually a trademark of sorts for the care bears toys and done so as there were many knockoffs when they were big.
I believe there's a line in the rap about them actually
Easy way to achieve whatever goals you have that require the princess to be absent: Just demand the princess test over and over. She HAS to do it whenever you request it. So you could realistically just have people sit there and request it over and over again.
This place is beautiful
This place is wonderful
This place is wonderland
This place is MEMETASTIC
This place is bizzonkers!
What if he invented that book on the spot and they just believed it? That would be Wonderlandy
The hatter doesn't consider himself to be the owner of any of the hats he makes. The one he traditionally wears has a size tag and price tag because he's wearing it as a display to sell to any customers who might want to buy it.
And the reason he's always having a tea party? One time he was at a party at the Queen of Hearts's castle and making it a quite lively one, the queen said "He's just _killing_ the time" and Time took this to mean the Hatter was literally attacking and trying to kill him, and thus cursed him to be at 4:00 PM eternally. Always tea time, never time to clean the dishes, make more hats, go to bed, or anything else...
Nathan Karr Sounds like a metaphor for people who turn their hobbies into a career and figures of authorities in their lives saying their wasting time, only to then overwork and decline in quality with the muddle of emotions eating away at them.
Interesting. Thanks for the info.
I didn't need to read this while working in the field was once my hobby as a child.
It's just an interesting observation of the character and not everyone is familiar with. It's always nice to find other people who read the book and understood that part of it.
Sorry, I was looking in too deep into such a good explanation in Nathan's research and analysis. ^^; Please don't be sad...
"I'm not a brony, I just think the show's OK."
Has a Pinkie Pie plush and a Cheese Sandwich figure just behind and to the right of him.
Lol
Glad you noticed my noticing of Bobsheaux's Irony.
@@ilikecurry2345 And I'm glad I noticed your noticing of his noticing of your noticing of Bobsheaux's irony.
Well of course Bob’s going to love Cheese Sandwich. Weird Al voiced the character and we all know Bob loves Weird Al.
My teacher told me that the hat the Mad Hatter wears is made of dangerous chemicals. So that's probably why the hats gave them weird personalities.
That's exactly what it is because hat makers used to use mercury to make hats which the fumes would drive them crazy
the princess in this movie looks alot like peach
Okay, I can see it, sort of
Who knew Bobsheaux would make the connection between George Orwell, The Thought Police, and the Care Bears?
"Time is punishing YOU!"
And the rabbit hole goes deeper...
Who else would like to see Bobsheaux do a review with either Phelous or Nostalgia Critic?
Keaton Jones I do!
Keaton Jones *hand goes through roof
YES YES YS YES!!!!
Genius!
This has aged well. Seems Bob has a greater moral character than Doug, though Phelan seems likable enough.
6:55 oh my god. I choked on my own spit. That’s freaking genius and the visual is perfect. 😂😂😂
Man, the editing in this video is top-notch. 10/10. Also, the 2009 TV miniseries Alice correctly calls it Jabberwock!
Finally a Care Bears movie. Thank you!
The Wizards voices sounds like a strange combination of Vincent Price and Tim Curry.
Jacob M. Keene AKA Dr. Pepper King that’s the bad guy from that awful My Pet Monster VHS tape that every kid in the 80s rented.
Maybe that's what they were going for
@@parker-boy98 and it works having the Guy do an Impression of 2 of the Greatest Horror Icons for the Wizard
And that's a bad thing?
@@SitaraAleu I don’t think it’s a bad thing personally, I just wanted to point out something, and the previous replies don’t seem to indicate that it’s a bad thing either.
Nostalgia Critic reviewed it, now you get too as well! This should be fun!
Giovanni Orellana funny cuz bobsheaux reviewed the third animated titanic movie before the NC lol
Giovanni Orellana My absolute favorite joke from the Nostalgia Critic Review of Care Bears in Wonderland is when Grumpy and Swiftheart are in rabbit hole:
Doug as White Rabbit: You might remember this from the much better Disney movie!
Doug as Grump: Oh, you mean the one with Johnny Depp?
Doug as White Rabbit: No, the MUCH BETTER Disney movie!
Hmm yeah, oddly i've never seen anyone review stuff like Care bears in the Land of Joke a lot" or whatever it called.
Maybe the reason for it is that it's twice as Bat-shit insane as the movies
Now your picture depresses me. Also, I'm glad Nelvana stopped making movies.
Actual-Lee, the Jabberwock is really just called that, the "y" is for the poem. It's a real monster in Pathfinder RPGs for example. Most movie adaptations like the 2010 Tim Burton one simply got it wrong.
Tobe Fair, it's only one more syllable and most people wouldn't know the difference anyway.
7:16
Fun Fact: 'The Care Bears Adventure in Wonderland'
came out in 1987, 'Aladdin' came out in 1992 and was pitched by Howard Ashman
in 1988
"Alice, you are as special as you think you are." But she doesn't think she's special at all, so...?
Dunno if this has already been pointed out, but as a pedantic nerd I feel compelled to answer the heart tattoo question: The toys had a heart on their bum with 'Care Bears' written on it; It's their universal symbol.
11:43 Because he is a cat, and no cat anywhere gave anyone a straight answer. :)
According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way that the jabberwocky should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The jabberwocky, of course, flies anyways. Because the jabberwocky don't care what humans think is impossible.
Some Random Guy I’m fairly certain Wonderland operates under different physics. Faulty science is tube least of this film’s issues.
@@nickmanzo8459 Bees don't break the laws of physics at all
Parker Green but there’s a bee on friend bear’s nose...
@@nickmanzo8459 Say what?
Parker Green I was testing to see how much of a nerd you work. That’s a line from the very first care Bears theatrical release
Mad Hatter: "Ya like hats?"
Me: Ya like Jazz?!
Swarm of Beas! HAH!
Also do the scripts to films like this not get proofread? "Our villain is a creepy viejo, spying on an underage girl."
A creepy "old"?
that'd be the literal translation, but it *is* used to mean old man.
Viejo can be either noun or adjective. Same for all adjectives in Spanish. For instance, una vieja means "an old woman".
Same rules for French and Italian adjectives.
I mean… he’s supposed to be the bad guy, is he not?
Then again, it’s probably not for the best that *this* villain was spying on an underage girl, since he’s supposed to be about rules and order, and him doing morally heinous stuff like that might send a mixed-at-best message to kids.
Bobsheaux in Frankenstein the book the monster was name Adam.
The really maddening thing is that Nostalgia Critic broke his Movies I'll Never Review list for this, but he hasn't yet reviewed the festering fever dream that is Toys.
He actually put the Nutcracker movie on that list since it wasn’t a theatrical movie, but he did end up reviewing that one years later.
5:47 Okay who let Ringo song write again?
What’s wrong with Ringo Starr?
@@MovieFan1912 Nothing. His songs just tended to sound the trippiest
13:02 Because they have the Heart Stamps on the Plush Toys too
Actually, I think the Hatter was an attempt to replicate Wreck-Gar.
Fun fact: throughout the 1980's, one of the many children's record series, including the Care Bears, were almost entirely made by none other than Flo and Eddie from Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention.
If you don't recognize them from that, they were previously the two front men of the 1960's band The Turtles, best known for their hit single "Happy Together"!
I sort of have a soft spot for the rapping Cheshire cat, I kinda like that old school sound he's got despite the decidedly kiddie content. Neat design, too.
Weren't flamingos used as croquet mallets in the book?
Terry Gilliam's Jabberwocky called it Jabberwock. Was that really the only movie to get it right? Interesting.
It's not a movie, but American McGee's Alice also got it right.
I love this movie, I love your review of this movie!! I laughed so much, thank you Bobsheaux!!
Also the rapping Cheshire Cat is amazing.
Maybe they have hearts on their butts because they refer to toys, who usually have some stamps on the same spot, maybe a copyright logo.
4:17 woah...ya went all Twin Peaks on us for a second there, lol.
ruclips.net/video/MMr8zKbGvzI/видео.htmlm
this version of wonderland is actually a lot more disturbing than what i'd expect from a "care bears" movie.....
as always, thanks for the amazing video(s)! they always perk me up after a dreary workday lol. instant and hearty subscribe!
P.S. The hatter without his hat looks like "pinocchio" from the magic riddle (BARF).
24:27 that's the Walrus and the Carpenter. as ONE CHARACTER.
So....The Carebears are insanely aggressive Phantom Thieves from Persona5 that can change people's mental state/cognition/heart with bright feeling laser beams. Huh.
I might be willing to make that comparison in this movie in particular, as they're fighting an Order-extremist.
I always knew that least two Care Bears and Cousins were female with Cheer Bear being the most obvious female Care Bear And Treat Heart Pig being female due to her few appearances in the cartoon series. And then there’s Grams Bear and Baby Hugs Bear.
Before review: deep breaths, hoo boy this is uncharted territory for me. I'm a huge care bears fan, one of the biggest you'll ever find, and I've steadfastly avoided watching any reviews of care bears in my life for fear it will shatter that one piece of my childhood that I still hold on to dearly and ruin my ability to be a fan and even to try writing. But I trust Bobsheaux over the nostalgia critic so I might as well have some faith... maybe...
Update?
Apparently Swiftheart Rabbit is sometimes male, sometimes female. So genderfluid, I suppose.
On that note, Funshine and Secret Bear are trans
Lots O Love Elephant is also trans as one of the shows has them as female while a majority of the franchise’s history says they are male. Togetherness Bear is canonically gender fluid.
Swarm of Bea Arthurs? That's perfect.
omg you have a pinkie pie plushie!!???? so does this mean you are gonna do bad mlp flicks?? i would love that
Samantha Crespo I have a plushie to, I like seeing RUclipsrs with one
There's also Cheese Sandwich there next to her
Also, I admit, I haven't read Through the Looking Glass in a while, but last I checked, Tweedledee and Tweedledum weren't evil. Granted, they weren't exactly model citizens (I mean, they're waxist (i.e. racist against wax figures from how they describe them (Note: This is mostly a joke, and not meant to be true detriment)), and are actually kinda messed up in the head as evidenced by their Walrus and the Carpenter story), but hardly dangerous to Alice.
joinmarch76 The tweedle joke was in reference to last week's review of the comic book.
Oh, I knew that, I was talking about them working for the Evil Wizard of Wonderland. But thanks for replying, Miss Raven. Always nice to hear from you. ;) Incidentally, I applaud your boyfriend with this mystery. As they say, 'Curiouser and curiouser...'
If I recall correctly, they were bosses in American McGee's Alice.
First they were portrayed as cannibals, and now as the minions of the villain of the film.
What’s with the beef with the Tweedles?
I guess people don’t like being eaten
the robots look like they made by Dr Eggman from the sonic series or Zomboss from Plants vs zombies garden warfare 2
7:14 liked your editing with the song it was funny and creative, also nice to see the Care Bears showed us what a Acid trip looks like.
Swiftheart Rabbit was called referred to as a male sometimes in the show, but referred to as female in the films & a few other times in the shows. So that led to a lot of confusion for people as well. I guess it depended on who wrote which episodes.
The bunny at the end is so cute! He should appear for special reviews like Wolfabob and Dogsheaux.
I think he had a vest in American McGee's "Alice"
I don't think he did because I remember his chest being like a furnace or something.
@@jblask2 yeah bit he has a vaguely vest shape metal around that furnace. So he seemed to be aware of it
I have a soft spot to this movie because I liked it as a kid.
Alice meets the Decepticons ? Where is Shia LaBoeuf when you need him ?
Now for a tale of disappearing bears. Who appear to have landed in the trippier regions of California.
Everybody knows To be a princess is to always look your best
The wizard’s version of ‘normal’ is still madness and all kinds of madness can exist in wonderland
Your swarm of Beas had me laughing very hard! Nice!
the mad hatter is tf2 in a nutshell
I will give them credit where it's due. The main female lead has more personality than most female cartoon characters of the 80s.
Alright. Now that both you and the Nostalgia Critic have reviewed this movie, it would be great if you both could review Alice Through the Looking Glass.
With only 25,000 subscribers, I think Bob is still a bit away from Senpai noticing him (as awesome as a Bobsheaux-Nostalgia Critic crossover would be)
17:43 Not long ago i saw "Alice" movie, and there they played using flamingo gardes figures and needle cusions. Then for some reason flamingos turned into living chickens, while cusions turned into hedgehogs
.... Why are Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum clones of Beastly from the Care Bears Nelvana series? :U
Did anybody else notice that?
I kinda did... when the movie got chopped up into a 3-parter for television airings on YTV and Treehouse TV in Canada. I also noticed that the Princess of Hearts (who's never given a name) bore a striking resemblance to Princess Peach.
you mean Tweedle dip and Tweedle shit
Now that I think of it, they do look and act similar to Beastly. Hell, Tweedle Dee (or Dim) and Beastly are both voiced by John Stocker.
You'll also notice that the Bishop guy was also recycled, I believe used in either Care Bears 2 or Care Bears Nutcracker (or both).
Wonderland came before Nutcracker, so while I highly doubt that the latter is the case, the former is more probable. Or Nutcracker recycled from Wonderland and not vice versa.
11:12 HE'S SO COOL WH A T
13:49: 'Oh, did I forget to add that the plumbers are Italian?'
18:46 the cage is hanging from the ceiling, so if the Princess DID walk through the bars, she'd fall to her death!
I WILL say....this version of the Alice in Wonderland story is MUCH better than the Tim Burton version. Especially in that it has a more creative conflict, better animation and more interesting characters.
I have been waiting for ages to see you review this film. XD
As I've said before, any time you and Wonderland cross paths, there's some fun in store. And I love the running stories in your Themed-Month-Arcs; this one's turning out ESPECIALLY interesting. I can't wait to see where it all finishes up! :)
Blimey! I haven’t seen this in years and I still remember it as though as it was yesterday. Thanks for bringing on old memory back Bob :)
17:26 I'm surprised no one brought up the fact that this Flamingo has an Australian accent for some reason
dude, if you can, review black butler: ciel in wonderland
I never noticed the vest on the classic illustration of the Jabberwock until you pointed it out.
I watched Nostalgia Critic's review before this and now I'm reminded again of how hard I cringed at the credits song.
They have heart on their butts because that's what the toys look like. It's like the yellow tag that build-a-bear teddies have on them or beanie babies have their ty hearts. It's also to show that they are authentic
I like how the Cheshire Cat has a smooth jazz voice because you call people in jazz “cats”
Out of curiosity, I actually listened to the Galaxy Song in comparison to the Wizard's song in this.......and YEAH, the Nostalgia Critic was right! They OUTRIGHT STOLE THE EXACT SAME MELODY AS THE GALAXY SONG! All they did was put their own lyrics over it! And for the record, that song was originally from Monty Python's The Meaning of Life from 1983, FOUR YEARS EARLIER! How did they not get sued over this? And NO it's not a parody like what Weird Al does, since NOBODY this movie was aimed for would be old enough to SEE anything Monty Python related!
It's not that the laws were nonexistent, it's that they were so nonsensical that bothered the wizard. How does a princess climbing a mountain for a teacup of water prove her mettle as a queen?
4:28 he figured out how bites the dust works
I think Jabberwocky is actually a dragon 🐉.
Still a better adaptation than the Burton films.?
It’s only impossible for bees to fly according to the rules of fixed-wing flight… which bees do not use, since they flap their wings. Stan’s got no excuse, though. 🤪
Ok this OS one of my favourite reviews of yours,
I'm being Brutally Honest about two Things here
1) I know somebody who reminds me Grumpy Bear called Brandon
2) I used to be Terrified of The Care Bares as a Kid! But for some Reason I loved Dragon Ball Z a Cutsey thing Scared me yet a Series with Brutal Deaths I loved it....
Blade The Bear Being scared of Care Bears yet being okay with some of DBZ's more messed up moments (like Imperfect Cell absorbing that guy in front of Piccolo), that's pretty far out, man.
Reapermaskhybrid That Scene Creeped me out! But I understand how that scene shows Cells Terror
Blade The Bear Totally. Also, I think that brief moment where this film's baddie made that freaky face would certainly justify your fear of Care Bears.
Reapermaskhybrid True. Another Scene that Creeped me out Was From The Super Android 13 Movie where 17 kills Gero and his blood Drips through the Floor
Blade The Bear They even had that scene in the Abridged version done by Team Four Star, still as messed up as the original.
While on the subject of messed up shows, might I suggest Jojo's Bizarre Adventure? Sure it has a lot of music references, cool fight scenes, and arbitrarily cool characters, but it also usually likes to dip into the horror genre whenever the story feels like it.
While it’s not as good as the Tim Burton version, it’s certainly got some creativity in the world of wonderland.
I sent supplies to your P.O. Box to hope you survive wherever you are...but I doubt you'll be able to get to them in time. Or they'll be stuck in a different part of the strange world you're stuck in.
Also, the flamingos are pretty cute.
That movie actually seemed better then I thought it was going to be. I'm quite curious to see where your little plot is going!
They actually differentiate the Jabberwock from the Jabberwocky in Once Upon A Time in Wonderland- it's not the same difference, but, they're different :P
I always assumed the red heart near thair tails were in the cartoon because they were always on the toys
THIS was in theaters!?
Yes.
“An army of empaths” ? Deanna Troi will be out of a job. Is Lwaxana Troi a Care Bear ? A Star Trek/Care Bears crossover could be very interesting.
Grumpy sounds like a Hobbit.
how dare you, Dwyane Johnson IS a princess
I'll ignore the fact that the nostalgia critic reviewed this movie and say that this review was really well done with some good jokes
