Just to remind us of this legendary sword belonging to viggo: “Viggo saw his sword as being the key into his character, and as a result he didn’t really want to go anywhere without the sword. I know there were restaurants he’d go and eat at the end of a day of shooting, where he’d carry his sword, put it by the table as he was eating. He wouldn’t drive anywhere in his car without the sword being in the back seat…”

Fantastic interview! Viggo is so cool. I love the Road, I love LOTR, that Cronenberg movie he did was straight up crazy. Jake was perfectly professional as always, but frankly, the interviewees were just so damn interesting this time. These two felt like very legitimate artists. Excellent answers to Jake's good, thoughtful questions. Smart, funny, humble people. Bravo!

I’m in the same boat where I don’t typically enjoy westerns, but as soon as I saw the trailer for this movie, saw the set up, and got some glimpses into the character that Viggo is playing, I immediately fell in love and knew I wanted to watch this movie

Kevin Costner is making "Horizon: An American Saga" and Viggo Mortensen this film "The Dead Don't Hurt". Glad to see westerns as an active genre!
In 2022 director Walter Hill (quite famous, search him up if you don't recognize the name) made a movie called "Dead For A Dollar" with Willem Dafoe and Christoph Waltz. That could be worth a try as well !

LOVED this movie! It wasn't flamboyant or having some country western star in it. Nitty gritty and basic, the characters were realistic, and you feel for them and what they go through. We have so few westerns like that anymore. The climax I had no idea how it would turn out until Holger takes out the knife. After it was finished, I felt, yes, that was the right way to end it. Thank you, Viggo Mortensen.

A slow burner which wisely takes it's time telling it's story.
Got the feeling watching it that Viggo and this direction by influence by John Hillcoat who he had worked with on The Road and the westerns directed by Clint Eastwood. A filmmaker who focusses on the characters first and foremost which this movie also does.
