"Black Sheep" Pulling Semi's Insane Engine Explosion!

- Опубликовано: 1 окт 2024
- The craziest explosion we have ever witnessed at a tractor and truck pull! Brenda, the driver, was ok thanks to the safety cables throwing the block forward instead of back towards her in the cab. The explosion happened at the Curd Capital Fall Nationals in Ellsworth, WI in September 2019.

Some trucks throw a valve, some throw a rod. Her truck threw the whole engine.
It blew the head off
Shortblock still in the frame.
Probably 150-200lbs of boost.
The Lady has style!
The head along with the top half of the block after it split at the crank.
"And then the 'lost engine light' came on"🥴
I'm amazed that the lights all stayed on
The Chuck Engine light.

Needs a tuneup
A little JB weld, flex seal and duct tape it’ll be fine.
Maybe a handful of zip ties also
😂 😂 😂 that’s some funny shit
And zip ties
You forgot zip ties buddy😁
I am kinda curious what would happen, when u put flex seal all over the hood

Guess he never seen a engine leave the building.😂
I laugh even more when I watch fast and furious 1 now
When she blew, both front wheels came off the ground!

HA! So much torque the engine launched the hood 30+ft.
Lol😂 👍🏽🤘🏽
See the problem is he didn't slam his hand on the engine beforehand and said "that ain't going nowhere".
That's why it went somewhere
That works with loads on trailers too 😂
It's also acceptable to dust your hands off and say "There, fixed forever!"

Engine was like: we're not gonna make it so I'll just throw the hood across the line.
This is an underrated comment good job😂😂😂
@Speedstar He means that the truck with driver was not going to make it to finsih line but he/she said that the truck throwed his engine and like meant it will fly or roll to finish line
Haha 😆

haha... damn man that was hilarious
So did that pull officially end where the hood landed?
Alas they mark it from the rear tyres.
Hahahaha
Guessing from your 1st reply we can tell who didn’t get this joke xD
@@cudwieser3952 So... about 30' from a NEW World Record!?
i don't think that hood ever landed
This is what happens when you don't regularly service the muffler bearings.
Probably low on turn signal fluid too
Sure it's muffler bearing and not the blinker fluid?
i almost died laughing!
He didnt use enough elbow grease
Looks more like faulty piston springs
Removing a cylinder head normally takes a lot more time than this.
They were going for a cylinder head swap. I thought she found a different motor and wanted to do a motor swap. Looks like a quick and dorty version!
;-)
DubEntendre, she took the shortcut. Lol
Looks to me like the engine is upside down and you’re looking at where the crankshaft used to be before it blow out the bottom and flipped the engine over when the bell housing broke.
😂😂
Bad news we have a engine problem good news half the work is already done 😎
😂😂

First comment on here to make me laugh. Lets get it to the top 😎

0:25 so that’s what the extra bolt was for. Damn.
Lmfao facts
MagnetOnlyMotors THAT was FUNNY😂😂😂😂😂😂🙏
If that official didn't wave that flag when he did, she would have driven right over the engine. Good save!
Lol
She wouldn’t have been able to move another few inches anyway, and that’s if she ignored the obvious explosion of the engine blowing the hood off.
Lmao
He had one job to do, and he did it!
Whoosh
Engineers: how much torque do you need ?
Driver : yes 😅
Engine : *no*
Engineers: but, the engine will...
Driver: Listen pal! If my truck doesn't turn into a damn twisler every time I rev it you're fired!
Shortblock: "Look, this just isn't working. I need my space."
Induction: "FINE."
Omg that's priceless comedy right there
🤣🤣
Yup this the best comment on this whole video! Thanks for the laugh
I never could remove an engine that fast
😂
🤣
I've seen it done quick in Harlem lol
Same incident happened in Bowling Green, Kentucky where a truck named Jacked Up blew it's motor out of it's chassis. Not like Black Sheep which blew it's head off.
Never in my life . .black sheep spit it’s own heart out just like the new world order crack bar jokes too soon too bad so sad 😭 suck it and lump it .
Now that's a "Run Away" Diesel! 👍
Didn't run far though. XD

@@truckertriesfarming9792 uhhhh of you insist but I’m gunna be alittle late.
That is just crazy, never seen a whole engine pop out like that.
It looks like the head blew off or the block sheared right in the middle. 2:37 looks like one of the stewards is touching what's left of the top of the block.
You can find video after video on here of truck and tractor pulling engines being destroyed like that..
It wasn't the "whole engine" (3406 Cat) .... it was the upper 3rd of the block, cylinder liners and head.
European Maid IH Super Stock did it in Europe years ago.
Engine: "F this I'm out."
Peace
I'd love to know how much force it takes to make a 12-14 liter diesel engine block jettison that far. Glad she's safe.
Alot
Exactly that amount lol
Pretty sure it's just the head.
It’s half the head in one of the pictures the cam bearings were still in the other half sitting on the block
jimmy 2b2 pixels just exactly where is that mark on the gauge.... Oh wait I know just past the high end peg.😉
There’s something about this that the primal side just loves.
It is strange seeing one of the rarest trucks not being stationary in a private collection/museum but instead throwing out it's engine in a pulling contest
Blows my mind what cylinder pressures were when the block gave out.
Awesome close-up video of the aftermath. The force required to split a block clean in two is hard to imagine!
Not for this engine..
That there is the visual demonstration of torque. That was insane.
Thx God it's not cab over engine. I cant imagine the whole cabin thrown.
Usually it’s a lot harder to get a engine out of something, but that looked fairly quick and easy. Might be a little expensive tho.
Insane, would have loved to have seen this in slo mo on a high frame rate camera
Before race : We probably don't need that fastener.
After race: that couldve helped😅
A massively heavy Diesel engine BLOWN up and out of the frame! With the amount of energy needed to do that, it's a miracle the driver survived!

its just crazy how sudden it happens. like everything seems fine then it pops like a jack in the box
I think exhaust smoke color changes just before they blow...
@@midlifeparty no, smoke has nothing to do with this. Engine just rips itself off the mounts due to crazy amount of torque and falls out.
The problem started from the get go you can see stuff from the start falling out like metal slag burning
I had to go back and look. You're right. Poor thing was doomed from the start. 😥
He’s right
Those sparks/embers can be just flakes of oxidation/rust coming off the exhaust.
What you see sparking at the beginning of the pull is actually the clutch being slipped prior to full lockup, they start in a higher gear then normal so they can have the tire speed and ground speed, therefore need to slip the clutch at the start.
...."hey Bubba...did you remember to check the oil"?
Is pulling an engine was this easy mechanics wouldn’t have a job
Oooooouuuucccch!
Throwing the red flag was kind of pointless, after the BOOM.
He might support red flag laws
its a habbit
This gives new meaning to the term blown engine
How does an engine pop out like that?
Engine mounts shear : restraining straps should catch it.
Also means all the bellhousing bolts must have sheared as well.
I know the boost and tune in these means a lot more hp than stock, but heck.
The head separated from the block, if you look closely while they tow it away the block is still in the engine bay
@@X-i-l-e-n-t nope the block snap in half you can see the sleeve on the part that on the floor
Stock hp for a semi is roughly 450-750 with 1400-1700 ft/lbs torque. (Don't quote me, variables are endless). Some professional sled pulling teams are reporting 3,300 hp and well over 6,000 ft/lbs torque in their competition trucks. I couldn't find turbo psi, but stock is probably 35 and these guys are running over 100. It is INSANE the numbers that they can get out of these engines.
@@JBisaPEDO You're looking at well over 4,000 hp and over 200 pounds of boost with some of these teams.
I noticed the wheels stopped spinning when the engine popped out. lol
So that was the problem! The wheels stopped, the engine just wanted to keep going! :-) Yes, if the final drive jammed or failed there is are a lot horses and they have to go somewhere. The torque must have been mind boggoling.
Truck: welp that’s it for me I’m done.
Engine: adios amigo
That’s a wrap!
Adios amigo
The truck wanted a KTA so badly that it projectile vomited a Cat, lmfao
Ha good one
Winner! Winner! Chicken dinner.
You wish
The concussion through the firewall must have been like a punch in the guts!!!!
That woman was lucky that the engine didn't go through the windshield
Some trucks use to throw more smoke, sometimes even throws fire, but here they wanted to do something unique so they throwed out the whole ENGINE😂🤣
Ejecto engine!
cuz !
A wise man on road kill once said, "we can just zues it right back together"
Which episode was that from?
I dont remember it.
Man that was wild. That motor paid for a front row seat and it was hoping out to go sit in it.
Awesome way to dispere 15 gallons of oil!!!!
Glad she was ok. Bet the concussion was brutal!
Look at Brenda when she gets out of the truck and comes around to the front. LOL.
Knowing the tractor pulling community it was fixed and ready for the next round. I grew up around them. They all help each other out when something like this happens.
WOW, a semi with catapult motor :) .
Engine: “If it ain’t Boeing, I’m not going”.
It was bowing alright.
"So Dad, I took the truck out last night and...." That's the expression she had after exiting from the passenger side from not being able to get the driver door open. That would be a phone call by the way, you don't stand directly in front of a parent with that kind of news.
Imagine how high it would have gone without the hood being there
Instead of “holy crap” it would have been funnier with “she gone!”
I hope they got those doors fixed on that old truck, she had a hell of a time getting out of there, seems like a safety hazard to me.
Go big or go home. I loved the look on her face when they finally got her out and she saw the destruction.
When a diesel goes they go BIG! No conrods coming through the block. No that would be a tiny mishap. Damn man!
The Caterpillar just got up and left the party.
I feel bad for her. That got real expensive, real quick.
0:23 and it was at that moment the head said to the block CYA on the flip side 🤣
That’s what happens when you forget to close the driver side hood latch lol
That's one expensive, automatic hood opener!
Man that's a insane explosion to lift the motor out of the truck! Lol
Does she get credit for distance where the engine landed ?
May as well try for where the hood landed!
Reminds me of some of the stuff my wife has done to a vehicle. If she lives to be old enough to loose her driver's license the automotive industry will collapse!
Me: How much PSI in that turbo?
Truck driver: YES
Thank goodness the flagman was there to tell her to stop.
Hooolllly crap dude!! Awesome footage!!
This is what happens when you don't screw on the radiator cap tightly.
KA-BOOM!
Somebody didn’t tighten the screws on it.
Cylinder head be like, i can't take this no more, too much pressure! Am outta hea!
didnt kno there was a eject button
Anyone got a link to more detailed photos? I'd be curious to see the extent of the structural damage to the head and short block. I'm curious as to how much can be salvaged.
EDIT: Tracked them down to their facebook page. The engine (Caterpillar C15) split the block.
facebook.com/blacksheeppullingteam/photos/pcb.2594184514012846/2594184397346191/
That lower block took a serious beating too. Just a big pile of scrap metal now. I wouldn’t reuse anything that survived
1.53 I laughed when I seen the size of firemans extinguisher ..."its ok I got this guys" lol
Wow she was very lucky that could have ended far worse
Man that's a hell of a lot of torque!
we wasn't looking for this video, we just happened to find it
How much boost you running this pull
ALL OF IT
Just some zip ties and flex seal will do the job :)
That was the top half of an engine came off.
I guess the top half was feeling claustrophobic.
Typically about the bottom of the actual cylinder bore, the block just splits!!!!
@@tomcline5631 Yep, them cat engines usually split right along the the length of the block where the cam shaft runs. 80+ pounds of boost helps to.
That's sad tbh the blokes pride and joy no dobt put thousands of hours into it and god only knows how much money get well soon black sheep
