Presumably they are ladies based on specs such as shaft length and so on but there would be nothing to stop a shorter male from using them if suitable in every other way. When I was a teen I used ladies clubs rather than junior ones.

Nice attempt with the wall shot, Pete. As someone who actually used to practice those (was a lonely teenager) I feel like it's easier to control with a straighter club because you know the ricochet will add loft and take away speed. So an eight iron cracked into the wall will lob onto the green a bit like a gap wedge minus the spin - easier to control as the shorter, easier swing doesn't give the brain any warbles as the downswing begins with the wall fully in view.
I love RAM golf clubs. One of my favorite "brand?"-name clubs. My problem with ladies clubs is that the grips are quite slim. The shaft flex I can deal with and slow down with (or play the curve) but the thin grips are my problem. Edit: just yesterday I lost my neon green golf ball in the rough on hole 18. It really got to my head.
Love it Peter - always wondered why any clubs are labelled as women’s or men’s. Just goes to show whatever colour the branding is, it’s all about what you have in the skills and ability bag!
Started playing golf 10 years ago with a set of RAM clubs bought second hand £50 for a full set (except driver and putter) including bag. Used them for 6 years and got down to a 20 handicap , then purchased a second hand set of callaway clubs off ebay and got down to 12. Treated myself to a new set of custom fit mizuno irons at the back end of last year, enjoying them so far.
@lawbinson managed to get down to single figures in 2022 but unfortunately crept back up to 10 last year though did shoot my lowest round ever (76 on a par 73 course). Feel like I'm hitting my clubs better than I ever have, especially for this time of year, so fingers crossed for some consistent conditions during the main season to get the HI down again. Might have a look at the woods this year as think the shafts are a bit too wippy for me now.
Loved this because I just bought my wife these clubs from Amazon, well the same RAM clubs but with the graphite shafts. She's worth it! And the results for you using them means she has no excuse LOL

I was wondering how you could fail to see that shocking pink in the rough, but if you're red/green colourblind I imagine they would be pretty hard to spot.
This is the perfect video to show someone who is thinking about golfing and is scared about the pricing. My first set was a Kmart Ram set about 15 years ago they're not bad starter clubs.
I played a couple of rounds with my youngest daughters Cobra Baffler XL irons. They are mens length (she is tall) but ladies flex. They have an over sized club face, lower cg, and heavier head. And are easy to hit. I slowed my swing speed down a bit to hit them and it actually worked out pretty well. I made better contact that way. Did lose a bit of distance, but my dispersion was tighter. I would totally game them. Prefer them not to be light blue, but hey if they work, they work, who cares whet color they are!
When I bought my Ping Eye 2 black dot clubs so many years ago, I bought my wife the Ping Eye 2 orange dot clubs. Each spring (after a long cold Chicago winter with no golf) I would use them rather than mine. Always played great with them.

I bought a women’s 5 wood before I knew enough to know it was a women’s club. It’s been in my bag longer than every other club. 200 yards straight every time. I love it!
I just got a dirt cheap 11 club set of Ram Cubix clubs second hand to Try & relearn golf with. Their a little odd shape (square) but all in great condition only thing i need to replace is the bag strap but it's still fine for now just will likely rip after a while. All hit well enough for me as a total beginner to at least get playing again. I absolutely suck as i haven't swung a golf club in over a decade but improving a little with each session. I was initially worried I'd go with a cheap set of clubs & regret not spending an extra $60-$80 for some better mixed brand name sets. But now feel the money saved was better spent on a glove, range balls, Fee's, etc.

My dad is a 61 year old wee man (5'5") and has bad shoulders from years of hard work. He switched to "ladies" clubs 2 years ago and his handicap went from 20 to 16 as a result :D
Based on the recommendation of a PGA pro, back when I was a young kid, I played a set of Ladies clubs, all the way up to my mid teens. I got my first “man” set around 16 when my Dad gave me his Callaway x-16 steelheads. I was certainly a few years overdue but I would guess having the soft flex shafts helped me with keeping my swing rhythm in check while growing as a golfer.
I like the pink golf balls, especially in hazy or cloudy conditions... much easier to find than yellow or white. Nitro Extreme Distance, 85 compression, surlyn covered polybut ball (like most)... 7 bucks a dozen.
My first set of clubs was a ladies box set my dad got my mom to get her to play with him. I hit them fairly decent until I spun the head on the 9 iron on a swing. Felt like a walk down memory lane. Great vid!
My first set of clubs was ladies Rams as a junior golfer. I still have the gap wedge in my bag 17 years later. My swing speed is too fast for it but it is the most reliable club I have ever hit by far.

I am a shorter male (1.57 meters) and looking to pick golf up. I was looking for a boxed set. Being that I need shorter clubs, I thought I only had 2 choices. Ladies clubs are shorter (and lighter). Maybe I will have to consider them?
There are 2 ways to go about this really. Are you an athletic person? If you are, then ladies flex clubs will probably be terrible for you. Pete can make them work, but he's a great player. However, there are some light steel/graphite shafts in Regular flex out there, for cheap, if you go with some old stuff.
Entertaining as always, thanks Pete. Great wrap up too. Marketers have a lot to answer for, don't they? I'm a 15 handicapper with an 'average male amateur' swing speed of 85-87 mph with a 6 iron. I have 3 sets of clubs at home - my 30 yr old 14.10 ss cast cavity backs with R flex steel Apollo shafts, my current set of TM PSi irons with DG S300 steel shafts, and my wife's 30 yr old cavity back clubs with 'ladies flex' steel shafts. Sadly, but honestly, the ones that feel the best to swing (and give the best contact) are ... you guessed it - my wife's 'ladies flex' clubs. Like the ones you played, they do not feel whippy or soft, just lighter and I could absolutely play them by simply taking a club less loft on each shot (they are shorter length and traditional lofts). I'm seriously considering taking them out for a round on the course but in any event will be looking at replacing my current shafts. Not to 'ladies flex' though, oh no. But if they re-labelled them to something like "Lite & Fast", then take my money, they're mine, in the bag ;-)
My irons are a ladies set of Ping G2Ls, a little short and very flexible/floppy, but I kinda like the way it feels. Not bad for 3 wedges and 4-9 irons for £40 and that included 2 trollies.
Ram have always made some half decent budget clubs. I would happily play pink balls on the course. And have used some out of curiosity when my ex played. Yes they do oddly enough vanish in the rough. Rather than referring to L shafts as Ladies shafts, it would perhaps be better referring to them as Light shafts. The stand bag actually looked okay for a budget bag.
Just further proof that “It’s the Indian and not the arrow or the bow.” Or maybe “It’s the squaw and not the skinning knife” since they’re “Ladies” clubs? I couldn’t score that well with a perfectly fit set of Titleist clubs and Pro V1s. Nice play and great vid. Definitely enjoyed the ricochet shot off the wall! 👍🏼

I shot 5 under once with my Mum's RAM clubs (still my best round ever). Since then I decided I don't think the equipment makes much difference really. I love RAM.
New to golf so after much looking around on the web I came across the men's Ram EZ3 clubs. They looked nicer than Slazenger/ Wilson and cheaper so got them. Haven't used them and have nothing to compare to it but its nice to see a review (of sorts) of the brand.
RAM.. still around... That was the first kind of clubs I had when I started playing.. was fine for me back then, good beginner clubs.. only the shaft on driver and wood where veeeery soft in shaft flex 😁
Hi Peter, Great content, smashing the preconceived ideas of how things are instead of how they should be. :) The problem with ladies' clubs for us guys is that they are often too short. So it is not often the stiffness of the shaft, it is the length of the shaft that is the problem. Great work keep it up
As a man I use a ladies impex 7 wood, originally I thought as a rescue wood however the strike & distance from the ground is unbelievable I honestly eagled a par 5 488 yards, 2 to the green with a short steel shafted ladies 7 wood which Nick Faldo says a good 7 wood is equivalent to a 2 iron which also shocked me until the eagle. For a slower speed swing or elderly they have advantages.
I accidentally put my wife's bag in the car a few months ago when playing, I tried them out and had a surprisingly good game. It forced me to slow down and concentrate on my tempo. Also, pink balls, impossible to see in the sun!
As ya got confidence, you swung harder --- creating twist in the shaft, rather than it being "whippy" ? The front 9 showed movement back to the left ... then not so much. I'm guessing here (just a few more yards, right!?! Still not bad on adjustment! If that's what ya had to play with -- they'd suffice!

I have a theory with the pink thing! I have a similar problem finding the pink castle tees in green grass. Not surprised the pink ball disappeared in the rough. Colour spectrum frequency, I think! 🤔
Loved the description of the set and the pink balls! Always good when it says "Premium Golf Balls" on the box, then "Dual Titanium" on the side... Only one of those descriptions can go at once, not both!

Put a ladies 40g shaft in my epic flash just for a laugh,, results faster swing speed ball flying further plus felt great,, even some kids stopped to watch,, ps I'm a senior,, just ordered a ladies 7 iron,, see what happens,, 🤔💪😎😂
Hmm, Pete you should give yourself a 2 stroke penalty if you can’t find you ball. If you were to to back and hit a new one, you would be hitting your third stroke from that position. I know it’s not the correct way, but it’s closer. Nice video btw, I always enjoy your positive attitude 😊
Srixon has a green golf ball. I played one hole with it and have never played another since. Worse ball to try to find Doesn’t matter if it’s in the fairway or the rough
We’ve been loosing white balls in the light rough , all seen where they went , bounced can we find them nope 😥, club had left rough about inch and a half longer though

Nice video ...... interesting, to say the least. Too many variables though; wonder how this would have worked out if you used your regular ball. That would have provided a more accurate assessment of the clubs.

I accidentally put my wife's bag in the car a few months ago when playing, I tried them out and had a surprisingly good game. It forced me to slow down and concentrate on my tempo. Also, pink balls, impossible to see in the sun!
I had a similar experience with my daughters clubs. Kind of just let the club do the work. I didn't get the distance but was more on target.
If this were my video and my wife recording when I said how much those clubs cost, it would have ended with a gun shot. You're a brave man Pete!
As ya got confidence, you swung harder --- creating twist in the shaft, rather than it being "whippy" ? The front 9 showed movement back to the left ... then not so much. I'm guessing here (just a few more yards, right!?! Still not bad on adjustment! If that's what ya had to play with -- they'd suffice!

I have a theory with the pink thing! I have a similar problem finding the pink castle tees in green grass. Not surprised the pink ball disappeared in the rough. Colour spectrum frequency, I think! 🤔

Peter, would you be interested in doing a video with these clubs with modified shafts? For example, X100 in irons and Mitsubishi Diamana/Project X HZRDUS for 3 wood.
Put a ladies 40g shaft in my epic flash just for a laugh,, results faster swing speed ball flying further plus felt great,, even some kids stopped to watch,, ps I'm a senior,, just ordered a ladies 7 iron,, see what happens,, 🤔💪😎😂
Hmm, Pete you should give yourself a 2 stroke penalty if you can’t find you ball. If you were to to back and hit a new one, you would be hitting your third stroke from that position. I know it’s not the correct way, but it’s closer. Nice video btw, I always enjoy your positive attitude 😊
Srixon has a green golf ball. I played one hole with it and have never played another since. Worse ball to try to find Doesn’t matter if it’s in the fairway or the rough

Good video Pete I am an 18 h/c with ping clubs and still wouldn’t match your score with as you said its the player not the clubs 👏.
We’ve been loosing white balls in the light rough , all seen where they went , bounced can we find them nope 😥, club had left rough about inch and a half longer though

Nice video ...... interesting, to say the least. Too many variables though; wonder how this would have worked out if you used your regular ball. That would have provided a more accurate assessment of the clubs.
