I feel like Sean Astin nails every role he's given. I also love how this show goes out of it's way to bring in every 80s/90s actor and actress they can get just to make it even more authentic. It really helps add to the 80s vibe that they pull off so well.

I wouldn't actually say Eggos are at that level of synonymity - El just really likes Eggos specifically haha. Like it would be weird if I said "got any Eggos" when I'm visiting my parents and feel like waffles for breakfast. But yeah they are easily the most popular and instantly recognizable waffle brand in the US imo.

You just made me realize (7 years after first watching this season) that the script is actively contrasting the parenting by the two characters with kids in the most danger: 1. Joyce being terrified of letting Will out of her sight but accepting that that’s what he needs and working to let him go/grow up. 2. Hopper being terrified of putting El in danger and keeping her in seclusion for her safety (and unintentionally affecting her social development). (Not a dig on Hopper at all. I totally understand his decisions in this season. It’s just interesting to compare.) … and then there are the Wheelers who … nevermind.
My brain couldn't accept the first season was seven years ago, so I checked. And wow, I feel old now. And also realised nearly the entire cast are older then I realised. And felt incredibly ancient.

Stranger Things is indeed the guilty pleasure series we never knew we wanted to watch ! There is something magical created here with all these adorable lovely kids that keep wanting us to come back, the 80s vibes, the mystery, all the scifi and horror film influences and of course the bad ass Sheriff. What's not to like?
I think you misunderstand what “guilty pleasure” actually means. It means watching something that is arguably bad in quality, but still enjoying it despite that. Like ‘Twilight’ is the perfect example or something goofier like the ‘Scary Movie’ series.
Those are in the realm of straight terrible unwatchable for me , so not really.@@Sebas.504 I don't think I misunderstand its more that it makes me slightly guilty just as the 80s cult horror movies did, that era was filled with this genre and it was indeed guilty pleasure in many ways. You actually know that the script is not a masterpiece or anything but its still the perfect popcorn-have fun casual thing that you prefer to watch when tired over other things. Its inexplicable but you know it. It fits well and all the tropes from those films are there too. :)

Does that make sense though? From what I remember from the Season 1's flashback scenes of Hopper and his daughter, she was way smaller and younger when she died compared to Eleven in this season.
I think she’s mostly wearing Hopper’s old clothes. But also, it was much easier to buy things anonymously then as most people used cash and CCTV wasn’t a thing. So he probably did buy her the clothes that sort of fit. He just has no taste.

A lot of people, including myself, would likely say this isn’t the strongest season. But it’s necessary for the greater plot of the story. So like while some Marvel MCU movies are better than others, they’re all necessary once you get to Endgame. So keep that thought when you’re making up your mind about this seas as a whole, it’s part of a larger story. A story that’s really only been set up for the future, even now... cause you might get to where we all are, as an audience, before the newest season is released to watch...
I know you didn't watch any trailers for this, but Season 2 had a teaser set to Michael Jackson's "Thriller" that is honestly one of the best teaser trailers I've ever seen for a TV show.
