This is definitely my favourite game in the series. I know it is the least advanced gameplay-wise, but I think the atmosphere was just captured perfectly through the environments and the soundtrack. A brilliant review, you did this game justice!
I have great memories of playing this game in 96. At the time, other than Mario64. There was no other game like it. It really became the blueprint for every action adventure/puzzle solving game after it.

this was the best review for the best tomb raider game ever made , i still remember that i was 14 years old when i first played this game and it took me 2 months to beat it but it was worth it i'm really happy that i lived in that era when every great game in history were made back then thanx alot for refreshing my memory you just made my day.

The controls are outdated of course, but at the time being able to control a third person character in a 3D world was something new and we forgave the controls, plus we didn't know any better. What similar games were we going to compare it too? Other than Mario64. Bubsy3d? lol!

cool review Katie but i noticed that the screen was small probably from the way you render the video so a tip here..try to output the video to 1280*720 that way the video will be full screen :)

I played this game only this year and i was expecting the big boss to be hard. Managed to bring her down with just pistols and didnt even use any medi packs..the pillar bit was harder to get past, not to mention the amount of times we all flung lara of the scion room to hear her funny scream

Aw that review brought back memories, it really did. I played this game right to the end and even though it was mind-numbingly difficult at times it would be such a great feeling when you advanced past a difficult part of the game. Consider yourself subscribed!

If you haven't already, check out badassgamez's channel: he's done walkthroughs for Tomb Raider 1-5, Anniversary, TR 2013, and is currently doing Angel of Darkness, Unfinished Business, and a TRLE level, Tomb Raider Redemption. He narrates as he plays and covers all the secrets. He's also very funny (he named the changeling in the TR: Chronicles Ireland levels "Fred"). You should totally check it out!

Great review Katie. I grew up with TR and have been playing through the series again recently. Forgot how hard the originals were! For those having problems with getting TR1 running on Vista/7 32/64bit visit this site tombraderhub and download the setup for your OS type It is the original game set up with DOSBox and Glide, the best way to enjoy TR1 in my opinion. You'll need the TR1 disk in a CD drive to play though, or image in a virtual drive ;)

I was kind of disappointed with Natla at the end! I was expecting a huge boss fight, but she was very easy to kill.

When i first played this it blew me away awesome...happy days.

Love the level Atlantis love the way Core Design created it. My favourite part is the Atlantean version of Lara, very cool

I just beat this game for the first time a couple of hours ago. One of the toughest games I've ever finished. I feel like I accomplished something.
